The problem here is people think that having one celebrity client trumps your day to day bread and butter - everyday people. She ruined it for herself. Makeup artists biggest referrals come from word of mouth and other people. She ruined an opportunity where she could have been referred to do other women’s makeup. I would hope it’s a lesson learned for her.
I hope she got a lot of money from that celebrity, because I dont know anyone who would take the chance on a makeup artist who could cancel on one of the biggest days of your life last minute because of someone they perceive as more important than you
God’s not going to lead you to be disloyal to people. That was a test to see if you were going to be loyal and she failed.. now this is the consequence to her disobedience. Will God forgive her, yes BUT this is still the consequence honey.
That MUA is psycho. Never known anyone to try and diss someone in the name of god. And she just rambled to convince HERSELF she was okay... ma'am clearly not. She also just could not stay off social media. Don't you need to value people to have a successful people-based business? This would have been unprofessional (to say the least) for a baby shower, let alone a wedding day!
She could have just laid low and tried to do better next time. As a Christian I am so mortified at the total misrepresentation of God’s unconditional love with no discussion of personal accountability of your poor decision-making.
A client forgoing basic common sense because they REALLY like someone's work and REALLY wanted them, specifically, as their MA isn't a "red flag" on the client's part. It's just basic stupidity and naïvety. A "Red flag" means behavior that is actively toxic or harmful, inappropriate, abusive etc, and actively causes damage to another individual. Let's stop acting like the client's naivety and stupidity is in any way the same- or on the same level- as the MA's inappropriateness, unprofessionalism, general bad business practices, use of God as a cudgel and deflection, threats, etc. The two are NOT the same.
i agree. I don't know the age of the bride but the lack of contract or lack of a website could go back that naiviety of not knowing how predatory the industry is. If you don't know, you don't know. She knows now but she also is already married and likely didn't find someone to sign a contract within one day of her marriage either. Hopefully moving forward she'll talk things out with her partner and learn to steer clear of scenarios that might cause headache.

I think sometimes business owners, do not think or plan for longevity & stability for their business. making bad choices, for money they can make now, not thinking how this is going to affect your business in the long run. Was that quick cash grab worth it??
