Dude that simple "This is what it SOUNDS like to see a solar eclipse" is so powerful at reminding us to appreciate the moment. You've got a great mind man.

When I was in school for audio design we'd always say "sound is easy, you just have to listen"
Being present really makes you appreciate the world.

A friend of mine once said as we were on a camping trip, someone had pulled out a small speaker and was going to play some music, he asked for him to put it away, and he said, "we as a society have lost the ability to enjoy the silence". The rest of the trip, we did just that, went about doing activities and ENJOYED the silence! It was a great trip and helped me to realize that there are times we need to stop and do just that, enjoy the silence! ✌️

Not only did I hear one yesterday morning while walking the dog, I spotted the little guy. He was alone on a branch, singing his little song. I had a similar nostalgic experience, flooded with memories of playing outside and having fun. I realized in that moment that I can't think of the last time I've heard one of these fellas.

they haven't gone extinct, we just stop listening to our surroundings! music, friends, and the stress of life is what keeps us from sitting down and decompressing life and just listening to mother nature and the life she has given us!

Thanks! I've seen one total solar eclipse so far, in Germany 1999. It was just as amazing as in this video, down to the insects chirping like crazy as the sun went and the birds starting their dawn chorus a few minutes later.

I love how you're able to bring a memory from the childhood alive together with all of the VHS footage and the story of the Morning Dove. I think now, more than ever, it's important to what we pay attention to, and I'm very happy that you're using your skills as a filmmaker to communicate the importance of that. Of what we consume. Of being aware of our habits. Really well done Jake. Thank you 🙏

Jake you have no idea how amazingly touching and specific this was to me. As soon as you mentioned the mourning dove I knew EXACTLY what story you were telling. The way you described your relationship with its song is word for word the way it has been a part of my life as well. And I too had been wondering where it went. omg this made me cry... I think life is so, so, so beautiful and so full of so many things, feelings... so full of life, of moments. And we just miss it. We actively choose to miss it by ACTUALLY PAYING ATTENTION to everything, but to our sourroundings. I'm so sick of automatically thinking about putting my headphones on whenever I have to do something, it's so messed up that we have to be so aware of not being distracted by something nowadays. I remember the times where boredom was just something we had to get used to and we, trying to escape it, tried our best to get ourselves entertained. Now it's backwards. We have to now purposely choose to be bored or else, we will always be with our phones, headphones, thinking about work, studies, but never about the present. The real present. Right this second. Literally right now that you're reading this message. You, right now, are actually distracted. Again. And so am I.

Crazy brother , I always love this morning dove singing , it reminds me of my Nani’s place ( grandmother ) back in days in summer I go to visit her and I get to listen to this sound.
It’s almost 20 years now, I really don’t go for so long and may be I don’t pay attention in my short trips to Nani’s place.Everything is so chaotic and and we don’t focus and pay attention to things where we are at present.
