This might be one of the most important breakdowns on editing on yt. THIS iconic video being broken down by its editor is unreal! Like imagine in the 80's having Lucas breakdown beat for beat Star Wars.
This was so fun to watch! This video changed my life 12 years ago. Because of it, I found out about Casey and later decided to start my own TH-cam channel. Thank you, Jack and Max - I was smiling the whole way through.
I frigging love the damage this channel has done to my algorithm, the amount of interesting creators I see after binging your content and then following all the creators is amazing. Thank you.
This was so cool to see. I love how intention some of it was. It took me over a month to finally watch this and imagine my surprise to see my little comment opening the video. Thank you both all that you do. Stoked to be a little piece of this one. :)
Phase three - I’d love to see links to the two other ‘normal’ commercials they made for Nike. So many layers! Really enjoy taking in Max’s humility and honesty and integrity of process.
Thank you so much for making this video. Max -- so grateful to see your work on TH-cam. Please keep making and sharing cool stuff with us. You are such an inspiration.
This is such a privilege to get the chance to listen to a breakdown like this. Thank you so much! Sharing his passion and seeing him talking about the goosebumps he still have many years later about this creative process is just amazing. So precious!
Well now I’m hooked and I either need you two to start a TH-cam master class channel together or no there is no or I need you two to break down all the best videos, movies and techniques of film making.
Thank you so much Tony. It was so refreshing to see someone so honest, raw, even vulnerable. I really appreciated the whole video, and your transparency. No matter what you’ll do, I wish you the best. Take care
One of my favorite filmmaking videos I've watched in awhile. So cool you guys did this to bring Max on (and cool that he came!). Seriously is like the English class having a poet come visit to tell you what he really meant by certain lines. Incredible stuff.
Amazing to dive even deeper into this video, it’s such a memorable TH-cam video and its awesome to peek behind the curtain - and especially seeing how Max gave over his song but then also learnt that sound transition trick he used in his feature. Loved this!
Yeah, if there's someplace where you'll find commenters sticking up for the editors... it would be on the Digital Spaghetti, with Jack. Love it. Favorites coming together again to form Voltron.
I think Max invented a tool for the moviemakers toolkit with that sound trick. Let's just call that sunken cruise liner _Battleship Potemkin_ as a wink for Max.
Great video as always! Can we get one on Colt Kirwan? He has such a unique and interesting way of video editing and I would love to hear you both discuss it!
Great to see you guys own up to this! It's also interesting to note that the Nike wrist band didn't last that long on the market for some reason. Btw, can you make @GawxArt a regular guest on this show? He continues to put out great videos that I have so many questions about.
If I said it once I’ve said it a thousand times. Max Joseph, Oscar Boyson and Casey Neistat are the holy trifecta of the short documentary format on TH-cam no one on the planet holds a candle to these 3.
So many things are not intentional. I also put music on my videos. music inspired me to a videos ideas. When I have the song different shot ideas come to me. I think that Casey works like that sometimes too.
I really enjoy these videos, but I don´t understand why you are all saying ´like´ all the time. I thought that was a teenage thing and you are obviously not teenagers.
This is the textbook definition of how to right a mistake. Jack Conte, you're a real one!

Have to have his wife there.
@@TynesStudios and it would be incredible
Agreed

Bo Burnham’s Inside skit on a youtuber reacting to himself on an endless loop is actually manifesting
😅

Thanks for your comment Justin!
Who else feels like we need a podcast from Max Joseph? His perspective and knowledge is bar, none and would help the culture at large.
i wish this was 10x longer! I want to hear Max talk through more of his editing!
he said my name 😭
So smart to turn this into a bonus episode!
Max, thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to talking with you someday.
Incredible that you brought Max on and brought this back. This got me into filmmaking
Phase three - I’d love to see links to the two other ‘normal’ commercials they made for Nike. So many layers! Really enjoy taking in Max’s humility and honesty and integrity of process.
Thanks for the shoutout @maxjosephdirector much appreciated and thanks @Jackconte for the updated breakdown
Max is the GOAT!

I feel so much better now knowing that he sat for 2 years on that music before using it!
All stars aligned for that video
Thank you so much Tony. It was so refreshing to see someone so honest, raw, even vulnerable. I really appreciated the whole video, and your transparency. No matter what you’ll do, I wish you the best. Take care
Wow what an interview. I loved every second of this!
One of my favorite filmmaking videos I've watched in awhile. So cool you guys did this to bring Max on (and cool that he came!). Seriously is like the English class having a poet come visit to tell you what he really meant by certain lines. Incredible stuff.
This is the kind of content we need right now - Thanks for being an inspiration for my own channel :)
Max is the absolute best. Love hearing him talk process. Just incredible. Thank you.
Amazing to dive even deeper into this video, it’s such a memorable TH-cam video and its awesome to peek behind the curtain - and especially seeing how Max gave over his song but then also learnt that sound transition trick he used in his feature. Loved this!
this dude is a genius
And we need WAY more Max editing content on TH-cam. Do it Max!
Oh so much learnt from this video! :)
Thank you guys! I was wondering about the editing of this video back when it was new! ☺
This channel is now my favourite on youtube. Amazing likeable humble and experienced host with amazing guest. Im in heaven. Keep it up ✌️
It is one of the defining videos in TH-cam history. I'm happy I was around to see it....
( I missed the Model T....and WWI & II...)
And this is exactly why we love you so much.
Please make the videos longer - they are so valuable
Shoutout to the Sears Silvertone amp photobomb.
This gave me so many editing ideas. Thank you!
Yeah, if there's someplace where you'll find commenters sticking up for the editors... it would be on the Digital Spaghetti, with Jack. Love it. Favorites coming together again to form Voltron.
Of course you guys did this video!! Well done. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You need to have Max back and go through all his films.
So great. Really have learned so much from these last two episodes
I’ve not watched the original review but how did you not know that Max edits this 🙈 great to see you fix it tho, love your channel 🤙
I think Max invented a tool for the moviemakers toolkit with that sound trick. Let's just call that sunken cruise liner _Battleship Potemkin_ as a wink for Max.

Masterclass in editing 👏👏👏. I added some tricks to my bag with this one 😉
This is super cool to watch and that even though I knew he was the MAN. He is very good. P.S. from a editor and filmmaker from South Africa
I wish you also asked Max if Casey had any inputs/notes or something regarding the editing.
wow, a reaction video to a reaction video. next video should be Jack reacting to this video.
Make it count is so iconic. Does anyone remember 'Move' by Rick Mereki that came out the year before?
I'm usually not that early to a video! Max is the best 🙌
He didn’t have to wear a bright orange bum bag, but he chose that it was part of the mes on scene. I guess u gotta respect that vision
Learned the definition of zeitgiest today lol

OH MY GOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!111111
If I said it once I’ve said it a thousand times. Max Joseph, Oscar Boyson and Casey Neistat are the holy trifecta of the short documentary format on TH-cam no one on the planet holds a candle to these 3.
Max is to Casey’s editing as Tom Sachs is to Casey’s making. You can clearly see the thumbprint left.
Amazing 🤯
so interesting!!
Not meta enough. I now need Casey to react to this video.
The “classic indiana jones shot” predates Indiana jones by about 40 years.
look Tomar, it's you!
hi, the text on the new thumbnail is to small to read on pc
So many things are not intentional. I also put music on my videos. music inspired me to a videos ideas. When I have the song different shot ideas come to me. I think that Casey works like that sometimes too.
Now that i low key hate casey, this is excellent. Thank you!
epic!
Anyone know what headphones there are using?
why fanny pack sitting naranja
Reacting to reacting
I really enjoy these videos, but I don´t understand why you are all saying ´like´ all the time. I thought that was a teenage thing and you are obviously not teenagers.
blah blah blah... their 10 minutes is all accidental.
casey deserve his own podcast
