    Good review. A couple notes: 1) The reason the alarm wasn’t working at first is because that final target was still in place. You put the switch into one of the alarm positions, then when the target is hit and the pillar is shot out, the alarm sounds. 2) You can put one of the orange missile launchers in that middle tower section if you just take the tower apart first. 3) You didn’t mention the FOOT PEGS! that are underneath the side sections so figures can stand on the outside when it is in the folded position.

      Also the gas hose nozzle isn’t the correct one. The correct one is the same green as the rest of the HQ. The hose also goes into the barrel

    You should do a new series on your channel as a Subscriber Showcase Series. Where your subscribers send in photos and or videos of their collections. Maybe a rundown of what we have collected, highlights of our collections, how we go about obtaining our collections and share our grails! As a way for the GI*Joe collecting community to connect and support each other. I’d love to show what I have accumulated over the years and I would like to see what everyone else has. Gooooo Joe! 🐍

    This is amazing. I always built my own bases but I wish I would have gotten this in 1993 or 1994 when I saw it discounted.
    It definitely goes to show that G.I. Joe was still able to produce quality products in 1992. This playset, along with original figure molds, attests to this fact and makes 1992 a good year.
    It was actually 1993 and 1994 where the vintage line started to go downhill.

    I had this one growing up, I used to have it the 'Eco Warriors Cobra Toxo Lab' and the 'Swamp Thing Transducer Playset' and I would plug them all together as one huge fortress swapping out the GIJoe Logo's on the fort for Cobra.... I miss being a kid

    What a huge start to 2020! My brother and I got this one for Christmas 1992, and loved it (despite the neon orange accessories). It not only served time as an HQ, but as spaceship, and as an orbitally dropped (not literally) landing craft/outpost. Hey -- we had to do something for all those Star Brigade figures!

    This playset was seen in the background of the original Jumanji! Weird as that movie was filmed after the toy was no longer on shelves

      It would have been filmed between late 93 through mid 94. Definitely not outside the realm of possibility it was still at retail.

    Since I was born in 1984 I didn’t really have the opportunity to own the original headquarters command center because by Christmas 87(my first Gijoe Christmas) that toy had been sold out for years. It was very exciting in 1992 to finally own a headquarters

    My cousin had that when I was a kid and it was rad as hell to play on. Also the vehicle spring missiles had enough heft and power to pop those spring explosion things, the hand held missiles never had enough oomf to trigger anything.

    I was able to get a 92 headquarters partially complete from a vintage toy store that went out of business for a great price. I have been slowly buying the missing stuff to complete it. I love the foot pegs and the playability of it. I also like the 83 headquarters but like this one better and I'm an 80s fan over the 90s. But love them all nonetheless. Thanks for this review , I enjoyed it a lot.

    I got this for Christmas 1992. I wasn’t a big Joes kid but this blew my mind. I don’t think I even had any authentic Joes to go with it - I think I was given a couple multipacks of Lanard “The Corps” figures to go with it.

    15:04 The orange wall was painted silver on the prototype which was depicted on all catalogues from 1992. I wish Hasbro kept it this way. Also, figure mission launchers are hopeless to trigger the barrel. Gotta use the large green missiles with the set for that. 🔥

    I had this base, ( incomplete ) I sent it to GI Joeburg along with some other 90s gems. They did the unboxing after they got back from 2018 Joe Con. It was really cool to see them enjoy it so much. Shorty after, my life took a turn for the worse. But still have my Joe's! One day at a time.

    My friend had this HQ and it was awesome!!! A lot of play value. We’d have Cobra launching assaults with HISS and RAGE tanks, since we each had two. Massive battles with mass destruction.
    I’m surprised it was only worth 5 Flag points!?! They were getting stingy with those at the end

    Congrats on reaching 10K! I noticed a shift in the audio at 20:02. I chalked it up to one of three possibilities: 1. Puberty; 2. Tom Brokaw agreed to narrate a section of the video; 3. You were suffering from a cold/ exhaustion.
    Also, thanks for addressing my questions about Star Brigade Roadblock in Q&A video. Looking forward to great Joe things in 2020!

  • @skylon83
    @skylon83 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great review! I had this as as a kid and a couple things: I feel like if the targets could have been triggered by the actual spring loaded missiles of the era they would have been like hair- triggers. As it was, getting the prison wall to stay in place was a pain and mine seemed to pop out if you looked at it wrong.
    Second, you got the wrong gas pump. It looks like yours is from the MCC. The original was green and looked a lot like a typical gas pump that you would find at a gas station. The peg that goes into the hose on mine broke, so I am not sure how that part did at surviving play.
    Lastly, I had no clue that brown part in the rear was meant as a vehicle service bay until I read about this playset online recently. Apart from storage for the missile launcher I imagined it as the generator/reactor for the base as a kid.

    Seeing this after FormBX's review helps cement his theory that this playset was scaled down from its intention. Especially that jail and service bay. If it was doubled in size, a lot of those issues disappear. But then you have something that a child can't fold up and take to their friends. Let alone, put away in a closet.

  • @RemyJackson
    @RemyJackson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I grew up with the 80s HQ, but being a reader of the comics, I knew it wasnt the actual PIT HQ, but a prefabricated base that could be delivered by helicopter and assembled in the field

    • @RemyJackson
      @RemyJackson 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @VT Alt it did, and it worked for the cartoon. In the comics, the Pit was so well hidden, the military base itting on top of it didn't even know it was there.
      I have the comic that featured the toy HQ. It was when the Joe's had captured Cobra Commander but considered him too much of a security risk to take to the pit, so they called in the prefabricated command center. I remember seeing and thinking "Hey, that's the toy!"

    • @RemyJackson
      @RemyJackson 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @VT Alt it does make sense though. GI Joe was like S.H.I.E.L.D in the secrets department. The regular soldiers having no idea there was an entire underground base under their motor pool, or why the Chaplain's Assistants high such a high casualty rate with names like Quick Kick or Thunder.
      Even Ripcord wasnt allowed to tell his own girlfriend his real name. She had to just call him Ripcord.

    My first GIJoe figure was 1983 Destro. I stayed with GIJoe through the years. My only “base” was the Battle Platform for years. I did get this headquarters in 1992 or was it 1993. I liked it, though I agree it has some bulky and hard to reach areas. I wish it did not use orange, but overall I did enjoy it. I rarely use the sounds. And yes, I still have it with my collection. I do forget which character was my last figure in 1994. I kind of felt 1993-1994, Hasbro was not trying.
    I wish Hasbro would focus on GIJoe instead of Star Wars, since Star Wars is not preforming as well (too quick for clearance, why bother?)

    Hello, my name is Martin and I recently watched your review of the 1982 Cobra Base, and realized the missile depicted looked like a real world proposed nuclear powered cruise missile from the 50s called a SLAM. I don't remember what the acronym stands for, only that it was supposed to be nuclear powered and capable of being used as a type of unmanned nuclear bomber. Also, it was noted that its exhaust was radioactive and could be used as a type of aerial "dirty bomb"! FYI

    This was a bit after my time, but after seeing this....i may try to add it to my collection. Colors & sounds aside, it looks pretty cool!!

    I noticed HCC that when you were showing the crane you said it swings just shy of 90 degrees when it’s just shy of 180 degrees. I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess it’s the limit of your toy review voice from doing so many figure articulation demonstrations lol. Not a mistake in my opinion lol.
    In all honesty I’m entirely joking there. I really love your channel and you are my go to channel for gi joe information.

    I'd be tempted just to buy that bunker section at the front. That would be a great playset in its own right.

    Great review! I didn't even know this existed! So cool & a great way to kick off the 90's year!
    Only one thing missing.... showing all 50 figures on the foot pegs foot pegs foot pegs!
