“Which is why all major health organisations recommend its use” 🙌 Whitney just know these videos are soooo helpful for me!!! I wish you were my hygienist! :)
THANK YOU!!! I was a guest on a podcast hosted by NHS surgeon (Dr. Karan) and I can't wait for it to come out! We talked about a bunch of evidence-based toothy topics!!! thank you again for your kind words :)
Hi Whitney, what is your recommendation about spitting out toothpaste after applying it to the teeth? - Should we be rinsing with water ? Love your videos.
doesn't matter either way! there's really not much research to show the benefit of not rinsing... but anecdotally many professionals believe it helps! so it's hard to say! I personally rinse with water because I dislike the texture of the toothpaste left on my teeth :) here's my video that further explains -- th-cam.com/video/kfl-2e1-o1c/w-d-xo.html hope this helps! and thank you for watching and commenting kind!
I would rather have strong teeth than tacky fake looking too-white teeth. Teeth match your skin just like hair. No one over 50 looks right with teeth the color of titanium dioxide which seems to be the goal for anyone with enough money to spend ostentatiously.
Preach. It's like people with brown eyes wanting blue eyes even though brown eyes are actually stronger. Not exactly the same concept, since one is *born* with blue eyes, unlike disturbingly white teeth, but you get the example.
I have more than a few white spots. This happened, not because i was eating toothpaste but because i was given too many fluoride treatments. They gave them to us in elementary school, i had them at the dentist, had a fluoride rinse at home in addition to fluoride toothpaste and fluoride in my municipal water supply. I have had to get veneers to cover my polka-dotted teeth and am NOT happy about it. This all happened to me in Houston, Texas. I mean....required fluoride in school?? I wonder if my parents even knew.
Hi I’m getting into trying to prevent tonsil stones, I know it’s not related to this video but I was wondering if gargle saltwater daily could be bad for me? It seems like a silly question but google isn’t giving me a straight answer. Also should I brush my teeth before or after saltwater? I watched your videos I just have anxiety about dental stuff so hoping to make check with you! Thanks if you read this
thanks for watching! I usually recommend to my patients they gargle with warm salt water before brushing when they are trying to prevent tonsil stones. but that is generalized advice and I always recommend you ask your personal dental provider for individualized advice. here's my video that further explains -- hope this helps: th-cam.com/video/qF5f-DrWYxI/w-d-xo.html
How does using fluoride toothpaste with unfluoridated tap water compare with using unfluoridated tooth paste with fluoridated tap water? When I say "fluoridated tap water", I mean it's in your supply and you drink, bathe, cook, clean, etc. with it.
Using fluoride toothpaste with unfluoridated water provides direct, concentrated protection during brushing, helping strengthen enamel and prevent cavities locally. Fluoridated water, on the other hand, offers continuous, low-level protection for all teeth and systemic benefits, but without fluoride toothpaste, areas prone to plaque buildup may lack targeted reinforcement. Ideally, using both together provides the best protection, but if choosing one, fluoride toothpaste typically has a stronger direct impact on oral health (especially for adults). Hope this helps as a generalized answer! Always consult your person dental provider for what's best for your individual mouth :)
The fluoride content in powdered or liquid baby formula is typically low, ranging from 0.1 to 0.3 milligrams per liter (mg/L) when mixed with non-fluoridated water. However, some formulas may exceed 0.3 mg/L. And yes -- when prepared with fluoridated water, the fluoride content in formula increases significantly. For example, powdered formula mixed with fluoridated water can reach levels of 0.7-1.2 mg/L, depending on the fluoride concentration in the water. In contrast, ready-to-feed formula contains consistently low fluoride levels, typically around 0.1-0.3 mg/L, as it does not require mixing, making it a lower-fluoride option. If you’re concerned about your baby’s fluoride intake, always consult your pediatrician for personalized advice. Hope this helps! I'm an adult and I'm eating toothpaste right now it tastes really good!. 😍🥰😂 LOL
There’s a LOT of fluoride in baby formula. Parents need to be aware of this - especially if they are mixing it with fluoridated water.
