As a big fan of the Republic Commando games and books, I think I might pick up both squads. After the side-by-side comparison, I think I will look for a version that has the bulkier armor to set them apart from regular clones.
Always great to meet another Republic Commando fan. Especially someone who loves the novels! They are some of my favorites in the expanded universe! It's great to be able to buy them from other distributors since LEGO doesn't make them!
@@JoshtheBrickworm I'm not sure that it would work for the Omega Squad commandos because the slimmer ones you showed use black for their armor while the bulkier ones use gunmetal grey for their armor. It would work for all of the other commandos, though
Clone Army Customs and many of the other brands use official LEGO minifgure parts for their heads, torsos, and legs. They print onto the LEGO parts and then have some custom molds for weapons and helmets. These are entirely non-LEGO made from LEGO competitors.
personally wouldn’t have them displayed next to my real lego figures, but I wouldn’t mind having fake lego in my collection especially for the detailed prints
I just recently got my first customs from cac during their sale and its some pretty good quality. They aren't cheap by any means but their is quality there but personally you should really only buy during sales. Good review though!
Picked these up recently and really do enjoy them! Picked up a few others as well like the P1 Coruscant Guard, P1 Spec Ops and that huge Clone Wars Battle Set. J's has some really good stuff, quality might not be on point with LEGO, put still acceptable. You mentioned that these figures weren't too good for stop motion, well I may just have to test that out. For a while I've been wanting to make a Clone Commando stop motion of sorts, so I may go ahead and give it a shot. Really enjoyed this review!
Excellent way to build your clone army quickly without spending 5- 10 bucks per figure! If you give stop motion a try with them, let me know how it turns out and maybe we can figure out a way to collab on an updated review!
@@JoshtheBrickworm Definitely great for army building! When it comes down to stop-motion with these knock-off figures, they tend to be very stiff and hard to move at times. Going to try to work around this and loosen them up a bit, which should help out quite a bit with the movement of the figures. I'll make sure to update you once I get around to it!

Some of the larger custom printers would definitely benefit from using replica pieces rather than official LEGO to keep prices down but I understand it's a different market. Great video!!!
It does seem that LEGO still has some secret that keeps their minifigures a tier above all replicas. Go - Bricks is challenging them for building material quality, but even the very good replica minifigures that I've reviewed still seem to be a grade below official LEGO. So I can see why custom printers would shy away from using replica pieces. They want to maintain a standard of quality for their own brand too. They would potentially improve their profit margins though.

A lot of custom companies have started out in the last decade of two and LEGO has had the time to make a few more mistakes and closer refine their craft. The fact LEGO is putting top level figs in cheaper sets is going to make it a lot harder for companies trying to start out and needing those early profits. LEGO know exactly what they're doing 🤣
It does confuse me that LEGO doesn't try to put out molds like Clone Commandos which would definitely bring the customer base back to them. I guess it is an interesting balance between catering to kids and adults. I wonder which market is more lucrative for them.

CAC is expensive! Definitely the industry leader in terms of custom quality, but you pay for it.

Touché! I was thinking of just a traditional Republic Commando mold though. The bad batch are in the P2 style.

What about a separate display for the fake LEGO instead of mixing and matching?
