It's such a shame that Mike Leander's production genius has been buried by GG's personal life. 45 years later the bass end of these songs still sounds fantastic due to how Leander played the bass completely locked in with the drum parts ( that he recorded on most of the early hits) when you add in the hand claps on top of the snare drum, the saxes blended to perfection with the guitars and the technique of using a guitar with all the strings tuned to one note and played with a slide it adds up to such a unique sound even all these years later.

Glitter was a great front man. Of that, there is no doubt. Excellent visually, with his 'sudden moves' right on cue. Yes, he is guilty of terrible crimes, but so we're more than half of the pop world, at the time. I know that two wrongs, don't make a right. There are millions of people out there, that would hesitate to, "Cast the first stone" His band were Fantastic, in my opinion. They could get away with singing anything. But the beats were just the best. They created a wonderful, foot tapping beat. When all is said and done, listening to the band now, doesn't detract from their genius.

A few years back, well, 15 or so, I had this girlfriend who lived near Birmingham, in her youth she had seen loads of bands/acts etc at the NEC and she said to me one day "Do you know what the best band was that I saw"? Nonplussed I ventured a couple of names but no luck with them so I gave in, she told me "Gary Glitter!!!" She reckoned the whole place was heaving that night. He certainly had a talent but of course other things blanked that out.

Saw him and The Glitterband 5 nights in a row. Right at the front of the stage in the days, you were allowed to stand up at Festival Hall Melbourne. Great music. Gerry was my fave.

Luckily for some their skeletons stay in the cupboard until they are gone from the world and some never get out or publicised. The media gets fat on breaking peoples' asses. I would love to see an exposee on journalists.
That pounding beat was done by just two people - Gary Glitter and Mike Leander, most of it done by mike, Mike and Gary WERE the Glitter band. The Glitter band as you know it were thrown together for things like top of the pops they were a totally separate entity altogether, only sharing the Glitter name
Thinking about his music, Gary Glitter was great in my opinion. Seems strange listening to the radio in December and not hearing Another Rock and Roll Christmas though.

MIREN DESPUES DE VARIAS DECADAS, VUELVO A ESCUCHAR A ESTE FAMOSO GRUPO DE LOS AÑOS 70 , YO LOS ESCUCHE POR PRIMERA VEZ EN UNA DISCOTECA EN UNA PEQUEÑA CIUDAD DE ALEMANIA , LA DISCOTECA SE LLAMABA " MEETING" EN METZINGEN, AL SUR DE STUTGART , NO HABIA QUIEN SE DETENGA ESE ROCK IMPRESIONANTE, YO CONTABA CON 17 AÑOS., UN TREMENDO RECUERDO CON AMIGOS ALEMANES DE MI EDAD.
Saw him and The Glitterband 5 nights in a row. Right at the front of the stage in the days, you were allowed to stand up at Festival Hall Melbourne. Great music. Gerry was my fave.
THE GREAT GARY GLITTER HERO OF MY TEENAGE GROWING UP YEARS NO MATTER WHAT, HE PRODUCED GOOD MUSIC AND WILL ALWAYS BE PART OF THE BEST MUSIC ERA EVER THAT BEING " THE GLAM ROCK YEARS"

@@melgrant7404 HaHa! That it is!
ROCK N ROLL ROCK N ROLL IT WILL NEVER DIE IF NOBODY CONTINUES MAKING IT THE OLD STUFF WILL DOG THAT RAP CRAP!
this guy was quite a character , i think they need to make a movie about his life . even though we all know his failures.
Ay, nobody's perfect.
Luckily for some their skeletons stay in the cupboard until they are gone from the world and some never get out or publicised. The media gets fat on breaking peoples' asses. I would love to see an exposee on journalists.
Who knows maybe 20 or 40 years from now the legal age will be so low that Garry will be looked as a Martyr, Saint Glitter".
Failures? I think it's referred to as "statutory rape." What a character.....
@ Little girls..... Knobhead
Garry Glitter the best
so masterful. awesome! he'll always be my leader. and he's so gorgeous too.
Gary is the Glitter in the Rocks of the Galaxy's star! Very Sparkly!
So simple yet genious song
I saw him with this band singing a little boogie woogie at the Batley frontier show bar in the late seventies ,pretty good band
You Belong To Me is my favourite song.
Can't beat a bit of Gary.
I think people underestimate the input of the Glitter Band. Without that pounding beat Gary would not have sounded so good.
They were a really strong band, with GG as their vocalist. The studio production was great too.
Seems strange listening to the radio in December and not hearing Another Rock and Roll Christmas though.
this was actually innovative, that guitar sound, drums and chanted vocals. it blew me away back in 72. shame he then flogged the formula to death
I LOVED it. I was 11 at the time. That "formula" was what us kids wanted. Thats why he was so successful.
Love it. The 70 were great !!!!! 😁😁😁
This is an AWESOME collections of clips of songs. I play this regularly. Thanks for the upload.
ANDY thank you for that............ it was MY teenage music. we didn't know who/what he was. and we didn't need to. the music was/still is OURS
awesome rock and roll.
Супер трек душа разрывается кайф от музона ! ! !🙂
The music will live on forever. We love Gary. Don't be too hard on the old tosser. What he did is nothing compared to what people get up to that we don't know about.
Amen your so right some of the shit that goes on today
Are you really gonna fucking tell me that attempted rape, sexual abuse of children and having hardcore child porn is a minor crime? What kind of disgusting fuck are you?
THIS BAND WAS F--KING AWESOME ....70'S FIGHTING TRACKS
fantastic !
Thanks for the clip Hector...totally brilliant
gee now I remember college partys ,in the 70's LOL
Can we stop talking about the people and just enjoy the music.
The music is bigger than the people.
The creations are bigger than their creators...
Hate the bloke for what he is but loved the music , sorry I can not erase my youth !
understandable
..tf is he?
Concur. I remember dancing to this at school discos when I was 13/14/15.....not much luck with the girls though! Now have grandsons at age 14 but that is life.
@@joycesanders4898 Gary and Tom Hanks are the same kind of guy around children.
