In my experience shiny JK and JL drivers wave like a cast away on a tropical island past their dash full of ducks at any wrangler shaped item on the road. Other TJ and YJ drivers actually smile when they wave back. Guys with cool XJs seem really grateful to get recognized
OMG!! This was sooooo SERIOUSLY FUNNY!!!! Please JUST FKNG WAVE!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 GREAT POST! I’m a fan and I’M WAIVING AND FOLLOWING!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 THE DELIVERY WAS EVERYTHING AND BRO YOU ARE A BAD ASS!!!!😜💪🏾‼️💯 NuffCed.
Ther Jeep wave is in fact a V sign, V for Victory (2nd world war). it was back in WWII when soldiers would wave to each other while driving Jeeps on patrol or for transportation.
The people that buy new jeeps are not Jeep people at all, they don't wave or have a clue what it is to drive an automotive icon. Been driving Jeeps since 1978, when every Jeep waved back !
Currently driving a 2018 and sometimes I forget to wave but I’m in a city where white bmw drivers started buying wranglers. Also had a yj and a tj so I’ve been waving for 20 years
Couple things you missed: You failed by not mentioning a couple points: - that the Jeep Wave is not exclusive to jeeps (hell even runners wave to each other) even though you are now getting people who think everyone else is copying Jeeps when that was never the case. - the two finger wave was pushed early in the TJ/JK days in a video that Chrysler dealers would have customers watch on things like removing the hardtop, etc. Before then it was just a wave.
This was a great and entertaining video. As a newcomer to the Jeep community with my new to me 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited does this apply to me as well? For whatever reason it seems only Wrangler owners do the wave to each other. Why is this? Are other Jeeps not considered “real Jeeps”? If so that seems a bit irrational as for many people, myself included, a Wrangler would not fit the type of vehicle I am looking for. As someone who works in the airline industry I need a vehicle that will get me to work regardless of the weather and toad condition, and is still comfortable, and has some off road capabilities as about once a year I do actually hit some trails, do some outdoor camping, and drive off-road. The reason a Wrangler doesn’t work for me is I only do that type of activity occasionally so the Wrangler is a bit much for what I need, Does my decision to get a Grand Cherokee instead of a Wrangler make me a lesser Jeep owner, and I don’t get a wave? Could I wave to other Jeep owners anyway? As I new Jeep owner I would really like to know the answers to these questions. Thank you.
Ahh good question! Back a few years ago (before jeeps became like the "cool car to have") the jeep wave wasn't necessarily reserved for just wranglers but any jeep. Most of the time it was just wranglers but if you saw a Cherokee or something that looked like it was built for off roading that would definitely attract a wave from all of the other jeeps. Now most people just know the jeep wave as pretty much a wrangler wave. The old school people might still wave at an off roading Cherokees but I'd say that you would probably have to initiate it. I'd say you would have some luck with some old 2000 jeep with huge off road tires but I wouldn't expect a wave back from some 45 year old soccer mom with her 2021 all stock jeep.
The wave is for all jeeps,, the wave has been around a lot longer than the wrangler which come out in 1987 and is no CJ in any way. The first time buyers and midlife crisis wrangler group needs to learn this , Cherokee 1974 , Wagoner 1963 our brand of jeeps been around longer, we could go back to 1948 with the S jeep pickups and wagons, none the less if it has the jeep badge it's parr of the family ✌🦆
@@HaydenTeteaki drive a 97 xj or a cherokee sport. it’s built for trailing and i usually get the wave. is yeah even today the jeep wave seems to be mostly for really old jeeps or built jeeps. nothing stock
New Jeep (Compass Latitude ) owner, have seen zero waves around here, must be a wrangler thing, or there's just no culture in the bay area. I've thrown a wave and 9x out of 10 the driver appeared to just be going through the motions of driving a vehicle that just happens to have the 4-letter badge on the hood, and did not look like the type of people who wanted to interact with fellow commuters. I did just get "duck'd" though which was a fun surprise :D
Unfortunately JK and JL drivers are more worried about lining their dash with stupid ass ducks, that the new buyer is going to have to deal with when the initial "coolness" of the Jeep wears off. Once they get tired of the rough ride, wind noise and lack of space, they all sell them off. See it constantly
@@joekrafft7125 haha I've had a Jeep since 2000. In this order, An '86 CJ7, a '97 TJ, an '84 CJ7, an '89 YJ and my current '03 TJ. Added to that list, I've had 4 XJs. The last thing I'm hoping for is that someone with bath toys on their dash waves at me.
I've had my 1997 Jeep Wrangler IRicart for 10 years and I love it and have really appreciated the Jeep Wave but I've noticed since the Jeep went expensive upmarket to 4 door and truck only 50% of these rich a holes wave!!!! So I would like to give them the finger on here and ban them from ever owning a Jeep because they are obviously not Jeep material!
Jeeps are too common. There are so many where I live in northern California. It's not like it's some exclusive club of rare truck owners. I get tired of waving constantly. I could see it for Samurais since there are so few of those. I owned two Samurai, and though I like my TJ, I enjoyed the Sammy's more.
You are lucky, where I live all the Samurais have about rusted away to nothing. Not like YJs and TJs are far behind, though. Funny that the new jeeps ended up being the true "yuppie" jeep!
@@luwist12 Yeah but gatekeeping is what is wrong with the Jeep community and you sir are one of them. The wave is cringe but so is the superiority complex you see from other jeep owners.
Funny I don't see many real jeeps anywhere anymore. All I see are expensive pieces of crap that are expensive to fix. I take my rear wheel drive ranger off road than most people that have "jeeps".

This was hilarious, I like the part of about the exuberant wave. My kids still laugh at me when I wave to other jeep owners.
The exuberant wave never fails to make my day :)
I have been waving to people like this my entire life, its just how i wave, like a combo between salute and wave honestly
I got a jeep and I had no idea till I heard about it! I’m excited to wave at Jeep’s now haha

Agreed. I give 2007 and newer Jeep owners the 🖕🏻out my window when I KNOW they saw me and didn’t wave. 2006 TJ was the last true Wrangler
