Have a Wrangler here in the UK and I love giving the Jeep wave. Passed a woman in a brand new JL for weeks on my way to work and no matter how hard I tried to get her to wave back to me she wouldn’t do it! Then, a couple of weeks ago she finally raised her hand to me and smiled! Guess it took her a while to read through the Jeep owners manual but she got there in the end and it made my day…and probably hers too!
I’m a new Jeep Wrangler owner and yes, I’ll let my head off the stair wheel with the excitement whenever I get my wave! so happy to be a part of the Jeep community. It’s Something special for sure. 😅

I just bought a Wrangler for the first time a month ago and had no idea. We were driving on the Tellico River Rd. in Tennessee, where there are a ton of Wranglers, and my Wife and I kept seeing the wave every 5 minutes, even had an entire convoy of Wranglers wave. She quickly Googled it and we've been waving ever since. The things we learn.
Entertaining video! However, I have 20 years in a wrangler and I’ll wave back to any jeep. No need to discriminate, some non-wrangler owners wheel more than 4 door wrangler owners anyway. Also, the wave was explained to me when I learned to drive and it seemed plausible... it’s an acknowledgement of a love for a vehicle despite its numerous handicaps (lack of trunk, tight back seat, rough ride, loud ride, no AC [YJs], etc). New 4 door owners enter and act like they’re the authority and that cool with me, but I feel they forget what forged the legacy of Jeep and created the wave... the 2 door! 😂

I've owned a cj5 for over a decade and never knew about the wave until just recently. I caught myself using the wave and now I understand why it exists. Anyone who has ever driven a worn out cj5 knows you don't let go of the wheel especially at speed!

Better when you’re in a CJ, YJ, or TJ Generally, newer wranglers are moms and people who have no clue and bought them to look cool but never do anything. Again, generally, I don’t wave to Wrangler JK or JL owners UNLESS they wave first. That’s because there is a higher ratio of ignorance to the wave. I’ll never stiff a wave though, even from someone in a different car. They may have a wrangler and forget they’re in their other car. Also, getting your deuces back and old glory in the background was brilliant.
i drive a cherokee kl trailhawk today and this other cherokee dude must have liked my set up cause he was sticking his whole arm out the window waving at me. that was my first wave, it felt strangely unexpected but i also felt tingly inside. But after further retrospection it could also be that he was throwing out a cigarette butt. im kinda 50/50 on that i choose to think it was a wave.

I just got my Gladiator last Sunday. Drove it Monday morning and got a few waves. To be honest I did not wave back as I did not know "it was the honorable thing to do". I feel so bad. From now on I will return the wave or initiate the wave myself.
I'm still working on my technique lol it's a natural reaction for my hand to leave the steering wheel. But I'm getting better lol I love owning my Wrangler, and getting waves from other jeeps always brightens up my day
I got a wrangler as a rental while visiting Pittsburgh I noticed pretty quickly the waves. I had to Google to see what was going on. Thanks to all the owners that made me a part of their world for that short time!

I'm a newbie, got me a 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited sport stick shift, soft top this past Saturday, I've been wanting a jeep for the last 18 years and my ex husband never wanted me to get one because according to him they are too noisy when you drive them and all that bs he could find for me not to get one, soooo I divorced him about a year ago n my new boyfriend loves jeeps so he pushed me to get it n so I did!! And I'm loving it with noises from the window hitting the soft top and all!! This morning when I got off from work I saw 2 jeeps and they gave me the 👋 🤔 mind you, I had no idea what to do but I acted like a lady and didn't take my hand off the wheel n waved as well lol, it felt really nice like if I was been welcomed to this new world...❤ ....she is a beautiful "Lady in Red 0IIII0" 😍

The wave began after WWII when veterans, now home, saw each other in the vehicle they drove during the war. It could have been a way for them to recognize each other’s service. 3. Off-roading for fun took off in the 1970s and it could have started then as a way to say hey to another adventurous spirit.
