Wet the perlite bucket so you get no dust

I have found that when I'm propogating is that some plants prefer one type of material where other plants prefer another. Syngonium are great with water only, most of my philos prefer fluval stratum, and hoya love perlite. I don't know why they are like this! But it is definitely fun to get to know my plants in that way :)

Hi Emma, I have been propagating in PON with such good results. Looking forward to your results. Great video, thank you.

cool video! I love these propagation experiments. Can’t wait to see the results.

i’ve been experimenting with vermiculite propagation, and it’s worked better than anything for me.

I think the Fluval Stratum will work best. Look forward to the results. Love an experiment 🪴

Have you ever tried propagating in Lecca?

Oh, vote for the moss and perlite for the wet sticks and stratum and perlite for cuttings….

i tried my first alocasia corm in fluval it was a bottom chop off my friends variegated frydek and i didn’t have high hopes for it as it was pretty small and seemed spent but i’ve gotten 3 growth points and some baby roots after a couple weeks!

Perlite is my fave. Pretty much 100% of my props (touches wood) are successful in just perlite alone in a humidity tub. Keen to see the results.

Still experimenting with different methods. Looking forward to your results. Just testing the water with semi-hydro, so far so good. Have lots of vines that need to be propped.

That's such a cool idea! I too was thinking about switching my moss prop box into a perlite one, but one of the main reasons is that I just have far too much perlite 😂

I would be curious, too, to know if there is any difference in the overall success of the plants once you move them to their permanent substrate. For the no-moss props, if you don't have to pull so much at the roots to remove the moss before potting them, would that make for stronger plants?

    I love a good plant experiment :D
I have most of my plants in semi hydro and therefor like to propagate in water or perlite. currently I´m also experimenting with fluval, I mix a little perlite in with it, as fluval gets mushy fast, this was a tip from a plant friend, but my mix is more fluval heavy than yours. And I also want to experiment with pon+perlite, same plant friend does this with her baby alocasias because pon is so heavy and the baby roots are so delicate. And I have a vermiculite prop box with some philo brasil right now, thought I give that a try, but I think it´s too wet, my wetsticks molded, the cuttings look good so far.
I´m afraid moss does the best, but I hope it´s perlite+fluval.

    Sphagnum and perlite.

Fluval perlite is my go-to for anything other than monsteras, so that's my vote.

What do you do differently for monstera? I recently moved and had my entire adansonii in fluval for about 2 months until I got around to repotting.

Hey I always love your content and it's so much fun to experiment! I am struggling to understand the String of Pearls right now, I just got my 3rd, I really want to have one. My string of hearts props are taking off nicely after my Tax tried to eat the plant like spaghetti. My string of turtles is finally starting to bounce back from the learning curve when I got it. Do you have any advice on the String of plants? Growing in central Louisiana lol it's going to get hot & humid very soon.

    My guesses...
Wet sticks: moss & perlite best
    Leaf cuttings: stratum mix
