True, there's too little innovation in mainstream guitar world. Will Gelvin came up with a really groundbreaking pickup design, but it went nowhere, sadly. Should have been the default in all guitars in the world, if you ask me.

i think itd to an extent lose its ease of use by doing that, while having more tone capabilities is great, you also gotta take into account , this was most definitely made for those guys who just wanna load a high gain amp and hit the strings hard LOL
The mix sounds fantastic, but outside the mix you can really hear how tight that low end is. But the star of the show is how well it picks up the high end frequencies. The harmonics and open high strings you can really hear in a compressed way. Very nice.
Glad you did the proper 3 coil sound. LOL! Fluff did a video on this like the next day. Openly said how to activate all 3 coils, but never used them with distortion only clean. I was beginning to think this was some sort of TH-cam wide Troll of the fans.😂
You should rethink the clean demo. That tribucker makes a massive tonal shift when played clean or edge of breakup. The good Dr. Andre Fludd did a demo and the tonal difference clean was killer.
Clearly these resonated with guitarists because I put in my order for one in October 2023 at Sweetwater and it finally shipped today (2/13/24)...that is the longest I have waited for a guitar. You are right...if you are buying this guitar, you are buying it for the Tripocalypse pickup. I suppose you could center a regular humbucker in the bigger route but it would look kind of weird. You know there will be someone who does that down the line. Frankly, I have found most of Schecter's USA pickups to be quite good. Great tones...looking forward to mine in a few days.
Kudos to Schecter for doing something different. Personally with a triple coil pick up wouldn't bother with extra single pickup. Just do a 3 way toggle. Humbucker, triple and single. Throw that into an SG style guitar and would buy it.
Is there even any point of pickups with greater than medium output these days? No modern metal amp should need that extra voltage from the input to chug happily. And it is an active drawback since you have to deal with clipping and loss of dynamics.
Fun fact (not 100% sure on the way it works so if it’s wrong don’t be afraid to correct me I encourage it): The normal humbucker pickups were invented as a way to cancel out any feedback that came from any interference as it pickups use a sort of electromagnetic field to transfer sound from the guitar from the pick ups, from what I read the way it works is essentially by having the two pickups interfere with each other you would cancel out any other interferences in the way. Idk what a triple would do tho, other than amplify the interference between the different coils idk what else there would
I love their instruments, I am a bass player and walked into a pawn shop locally just for kicks and hanging on the wall behind the counter was a Schecter Daniel Firth Hellraiser Extreme-5. I quickly said to myself "wait" and looked back at it...yup! I asked how much it was and while the guy was telling me I saw next to it a Carvin 5 string fretless bass!?!?!??! Bought them both for less than the price of the Schecter new!!!!!!!!! The lever position issue was just an accident we know it Andrew!
What about 60 cycle hum? No humbucker effect with 3 coils, 1 and 2 cancells each other and the third one is alone... in theory bad for high gain sounds. One of the coils must be a mini HB to avoid the hum noise
What is the point of a triple humbucker The point of having 2 coils is to wind them in opposite directions to reduce hum bc one current flowing through both coils will naturally tend towards zero since the magnetic fields generated oppose each other
I hate 5 was selectors. I get that this is a new things for them though. Really curious how this evolves or if it gets dropped. The Sunset 7 string line in general seems really good.
I think the coil just adds a lot of low end woof to the tone. It works in some styles and would kick ass for leads, but for rhythms I think I'd rather just stick to the classic humbucker.
It would’ve been cool to hear the triple coil with some lead playing. I really like using the bridge pickup for leads, so if the triple coil just fattens up that tone then I’d be really interested.

Hm not sure I like the triple coil. Definitely seems like something to pull out for a section of a song, but I don’t see why I’d choose that over just a normal humbucker which to me sounded much much much better. I think this is a guitar where I need somebody to write a track and we do side by side mixes of how it differs in moments. Cause beyond that, I’m not being sold on this at all.
Don't care for your tone at all, way too muddy, not enough clarity or definition. That triple coil sounds like it'll sound kickass though with some proper EQ. Has tons of natural bite and attack, almost like a natural, built-in boost pedal. The idea has potential.
Of course you wanna do clean tones, mate! Check out my Aussie bro, Plini. His music has HEAPS of clean tones as well as plenty of other Gent genre bands.
The triad pickup both tempts me and scares me. I wonder if instead of guitars growing in the number of strings, they grow in the number of connected coils. Like now we have insane guitars with like 15 strings on it, and in the future, insane pickups with like 7 different coils.
