I pick up minimum one box of nickels each year since 2003. They fit into an ammo can and stack easy, but never searched. Maybe I'll search them one day, maybe not.... The 2026 coins may actually be when the composition is changed, yeah I know it's been talked about for 20 years- but the new designs may be the perfect time for this. Good luck to you!
Lot of change get's lost via car wash vacuums. I used to dig through vacuum's trap door for all kinds of change. We used to do landscaping for the In-n-outs that had car washes in Cali.
There are a lot of people these days who really only care about quarters, and they leave their dimes, nickels, and pennies behind or throw them in the trash. That blows my mind, especially given that so many people are sinking in poverty at this point, but it's true, nonetheless. I do actually keep any Nickel bullion that I come across in Canadian change. I have several pounds of Canadian nickels & quarters, as well as a number of French 1/2, 1, 2, and 5 Francs French coins...all of which are 99.9% Nickel bullion. Yeah, that War Nickel is worth $1.90 at melt. I don't keep those as a part of my Silver stack, but I pick 'em up whenever I see them for cheap and put them in a little ancillary stack that I use to insulate my core position in Silver from ever having to be sold off. I think at last count I had something like 108 or 111 of those little War Nickels. Usually, I try to do a total inventory annually, so that time is coming up. Pretty good box of nickels! Keep at it!
It just blows me away how people feel about change, and like you said. So many heaped in debt. Most couples are both working now, bringing in pretty good money, but they spend more than they bring in. Anyway, when I go to my banks, I check the coin machines, I look in the waste basket, and I find coins almost every time. I just deposit them with my other coin returns. LoL, it makes me pretty happy to find that free money. Several bank workers save the foreign change for me as well, so I get a fair amount of Canadian coins too. Every so often they will give me a silver one, that's always nice. Good to hear from you
@@kaprizovtolizardtokaprizov I get it... We all have our favorites... Because I have been so motivated by silver, I like the wartime. And I was just not getting anything with dimes or quarters.. but now in the big dime bags, I'm getting a little.
As a coin collector too, I wonder the value of these coins due to their conditions. Can you please let me know if this is worth doing for me? Where do you sell them? Do you have to pay a fee to return the nickels that you don’t keep? I bought a box of Quarters and after going through them, the bank wanted a $5.00 fee for my returning the ones I didn’t want to keep. Are other banks not charging this fee?
I have never paid a fee to purchase or return coins. One of my banks with coin machines started charging 3% after $33.00 so I mostly take my penny returns there . It's usually around 19 or 20 dollars. Try to find one bank to buy coins, and another one to return them. Even if it's the same bank, just different branches. I remember PNC wanted to charge a few, I never bank with them.
(13:36) it kinda looks like there might be a "light dbl strike" on the cheek of that 1976... ummm... i see the letter "T" clearly but with that shine, I can't say forfure or not if there are mote letters... Hold that coins "nose down" & look at the cheek... its too clear & no scuffing over or around the letter with that specific immediate area surrounding the letter being flat... thats too many factors for it to be considered "due to circulation..."
They are just low mintage like the 2009s, not sure why production was so low, but people are sure buying them up.... If you got lucky enough to get a full box of them, you'd make several thousand dollars. Pretty crazy. (I've only found 1)
If you're into stacking base metals, I think nickels are a no brainer. 0% sort time and you know exactly what your getting. Kyle Bass thinks they're worthwhile also. I think he's got 1 million $ in nickels.
Congratulations Gabby, nice finds , I found a 1943 Denver this week Keep Stackin Bro
@@bigo2032 cool, love finding the silver. Not only is it 35% silver, it's a cool little piece of history.
I used to go to the bank and get a roll of nickels in about 1961 to 1965. Every roll had on average about 5 buffalo nickels. Lot of fun collecting

Love nickels. Buffalo's and older Jefferson's, both.
I hope to get a nickel search in this week.
Unfortunately I don’t have two nickels to rub together, I do have one and four pennies, so close, can’t wait!
LoL, keep checking those coinstars machines, hopefully you'll get a few nickels for rubbing
Easy to determine if your 1946 Jefferson has silver. They sound very distinguishable when dropped around.
Good point. I need to drop a few of the silvers to get the sound in my ear

I am probably an outlier but nickels have to be my least favorite to look through. You can find some good stuff but I prefer other denominations.

You should be able to find a bank with a coin dump in your area with no fees. Coinstar can be used with no fees as long as you get gift card not cash.
