It has a double ping. I hunt with the Nox 800 so I'm not familiar with the Nox 900 as the VDI numbers are different. But if you hunt by tones it seems to be a solid tone but I question the double ping... On a Nox 800 it could be pull tab or a bever tail! But I'd still dig it, I dig everything. :) But since you are using the Nox 900, it could be 2 targets together, and perhaps a penny .
Would you dig it - Bicentennial Quarter Really fun watching and learning about metal detecting from you Jim! Hope to see you sometime out at Sunset Beach☀️
I just got an equinox 900 and I’m having the same problem. All the iron sounds like dimes and quarters, and all the dimes and quarters sound like iron😂 I’m going to guess copper penny?🤷♂️
fun hunt there Jim ! Always a challenge to hunt good ole Sunset. Hope you went to Harbor House for breakfast. Always good eats there. Thanks for sharing you finds
Great day! I hope you had a good breakfast! I’m guessing it’s a silver ring, I would dig it Jim ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I felt so bad for Haley when she whimpered poor girl. 😞😞😞
the iron rich black sands mask targets, good targets can sound bad while iron targets can sound great. Sunset beach is a challenging beach to detect for that reason alone. Thank You 👍
What an awesome hunt you had! You sure found a lot of cool items! Yes, I would dig it. I think it is a silver ring and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am right! lol Great video, thank you!
Good video content !! I'm taking my Nox 900 to Panama City Beach tmrw, and this is the first time I've used it around salt water. You have any recommendations for set up ?
Always start in stock beach 1 in dry and beach 2 in wet, adjust sensitivity to highest stable setting you can. Once you get comfortable and if needed adjust recovery speed based on conditions, deep targets slow it down and trashy areas speed it up.
It depends on the beach, but for most part Beach 1 in the dry, Beach 2 in the wet. faster recovery speed when in dry sand and slower recovery speed in the wet, highest stable sensitivity and usually FE6 or higher.
Silver ring, thanks again Jim for sharing your finds, can you ask your friend that has the manticore what mode he uses at the beach and the sensitivity tya. Happy hunting everyone.
Hey Jim don't know if you know it but it looks like you made Jamie O'Brien the professional surfer from Hawaii's video when he was at the wedge recently. Check out Jamie O'Brien's recent video at the wedge and you are in it at 2 minutes 27 seconds. Lol swinging the detector. Hope you found lots.
Cool, I will have to check it out. I talked to him for a little bit along with the Skid Kids. I never want to dig in the areas they run their approach to catch the side kick wave that feeds into the big surf wave. I found a nickel to hit the cycle and maybe a dime otherwise the first few days of the first southern swell of the season was a bust.
Nice finds! Don’t know how you don’t go crazy with those inaccurate target IDs. Sold my equinox and manticore because the IDs are just all over the board, and you are never confident in what you are digging (especially when a good target hits as Iron). You should try a Deus 2 or CTX. I’m down in San Diego, with similar sand to yours, and those 2 machines lock on and give perfect IDs.
Seriously, you judge a machine by it's target ID capability? hmmm! You must be a fairly new detectorist then, as Pi's are best in black sand and have zero target id. I have detected these beaches for almost 40 years now, my first machine clicked and vibrated when going over metal, I found a lot of gold with that machine.
@@funwithjim Been beach detecting since 2008. I have a TDI, Infinium, and Minelab F1a4 also. I use PIs more than VLFs because of our black sand. Bottom line is when your machine tells you that a good target is iron, you may as well be using a PI, and getting better performance. Don’t know if you have tried a Deus 2 yet, but it seriously outperforms the Manticore/Equinox around these parts. Not trying to start an argument, was offering advice… but it seems that you don’t want any.
I do use the Equinox like a Pi as it is so much deeper than my Pi's and Sovereign. So I really don't care about Target ID I care about locating targets being masked by our black sands. No argument but you said "Sold my equinox and manticore because the IDs are just all over the board" because of that statement I assumed you were a newbie. I am sure you understand that!
Ngl it’s annoying. I used an AT max before I bought the equinox 900 and it was much more consistent on IDs. A piece of aluminum can can literally be anything on the equinox and it’s infuriation. It’s much more quiet at the beach though at least.
I am glad you like the Legend, that is great. I do not like it at all, I detect Bolsa and Sunset the most and the only machine so far besides a Pi is the Equinox. But I use the Nox like a Pi never trusting a single deep target ID. I am no expert with the Legend of course but I have a lot of friends that own them they will not use them on either of those beaches. Otherwise keep rock'n your legend and I will keep rock'n my Nox.
Just do it. Don't let fear keep you from things you like to do. I believe the beaches in So Cal are safe. Some are lit up pretty well. Go on an early morning during a full moon.
Yes, I dig everything! But it sound like maybe a a bottle cap LOL. But you never know because soil and other interferences around you can fool you! I see after you dug it that it was a dime.
Fun with Jim again and his e-bike - awesome 🌞
Nice hunt thanks for sharing!!!!!
Thank you 🤙
Great Video Again Jim! I think that this week's dig it is a wheat penny! Glad you found your dime for the cycle!!!

Hola compañero una pregunta cual es mejor detector equinox 800 o equinox 900 gracias y saludos
800 is my favorite machine, 900 goes deeper though but loves deep iron which can be frustrating. Thank You 👍
Nice hunt, Jim. Why do the clad coins come in as -18?
the iron rich black sands mask targets, good targets can sound bad while iron targets can sound great. Sunset beach is a challenging beach to detect for that reason alone. Thank You 👍

I hardly dig any iron with my 3 Legends.... It's such an amazing tool....
The legend was horrible at Sunset Beach, that is why I won't use one. Pi's are best on that beach.
