    Wow, you know what they say, "the early bird gets the worm 🪱" . Great hunt Jim thanks for sharing. By the way, I found my first black tungsten wedding ring at the dunes last week. Always love fresh drops there.

      Sweet find, congrats! I know you will find many more just keep hunting. I always say Tungsten is Surfers choice but the dunes, so Paddleboarders choice. Lol! Thank you!

    I've seen several detecting posts from HB.. That beach gets pounded... It's not unusual to see about a dozen others all the time...A fresh drop is the best hope you're gonna be finding anything at all on that beach.....

      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually conditions are everything, yes I have detected HB my entire life. Dry Sand is about fresh drops but a great ground swell can really make it a rewarding day! Thank You!

    Jim the first time w that new Coob scoop at my beach off the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia bagged a King George the 3rd. Salt water had worked the copper thin but identified it. Good to see your CkG Is working for ya!

      Awesome, that Coob scoop is tough and handles that rocky beach with no issues. I do love having a dry sand scoop that is so much like my old rusty. 👍😎

    Hi Jim, just wondering if you have you have you're phone with you and it's on and if you do I reckon you don't get interference on you're equinox?

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My phone is always in the pocket and never have I had an issue with interference on the Nox. I do believe that noise cancel feature has so many available frequencies to choose from it would never be an issue.

    Hey Jim wouldn’t it save you more time by checking the hole after you scoop instead of dumping the scoop and then checking? You seem to not shake your scoop much at all!

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to throw targets out of the hole first then scoop and shake in the dry sand, I am sure your method would save time but doing the same way for 30+ years the habit has been effective. Lol!👍😎

    This reminds me of the early bird and the worm. Or is it more like the second mouse gets the cheese? Joking a little.
    Thank you for the video!
    I miss the ocean!

      This early bird worms his way to the cheese and hopefully before Mickey gets it! Lol! Thank you and I bet you do miss the Ocean, I know I would! 👍😜🍻

    Hi Jim again, the reason I asked the question about the phone I'm about to buy an equinox and never had a problem with my garrett

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know anyone who has had that issue at all with the Nox, I do know you will love the Nox as if can do so much and easily customized.
      Good Luck and I hope you find a lot of great stuff.

      From my experience, the equinox can be sensitive to cellphone interference, and EMI in general. Turning down the sensitivity helps, but I usually put my phone on airplane mode if I carry it with me.

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still have never witnessed cellphone interference on my nox, now EMI caused by hot ground yes. That is a major weakness to the Nox and the reason I usually also carry the Sovereign with me.

    Andrew and I did a 6am hunt with one of our buddies who was a first timer to Huntington Beach today. We all did well! Both guys got one ring with clad under $2. I however tied my best ring record with a total of 4 rings ( 1 stainless, 1 copper and 2 sliver wire wrap) and $3.60 in clad.

    It’s good to share the typical hunt so new detectorists can have reasonable expectations. I like finding a ring in the wake of a “hit n run” hunter and know that I too am not perfect. I like to think I tread water not Walk on it!😂👍👍👍

      Over the years of hunting dry sand I know that every foot step can move a target that at one angle can be detected but another you get nothing. Sound like a good Tutorial Tuesday topic at some point. Lol! Thank you!
