My dad was a body man and when I was young would not watch him repair stuff and just go in my room and listen to music and play guitar. When the first big repair job came and it was $600 ($1235 in today’s money), I went and bought a Haynes manual. I consulted my father who had a bunch of tools at home and not just at the shop. I also had him to guide me even though he wasn’t a mechanic. I never looked back and here I am decades later getting old and still doing as much as I can. The more technology the more barriers to jump. I’ve had all the surprise difficulties that make a 4 hour job last days. You have to wait for the next weekend to continue many times.

My dad wasn't handy but was great at many other things. I am just trying to encourage people to go out there and try. Please... Get a MINI SPLIT unit for your garage. You can't think let alone work in that heat.....
