Always put your health as priority. As someone who struggles with thyroid and hormonal issues cutting out the added sugars has helped me tremendously. No I am not keto lol. Keto is unrealistic. I will say that I do cheat and the next day is horrendous so cutting out the sugar is not all nonsense. Btw your dental health will also improve no not saying anything your teeth are lovely (not in a weird sexual way I'm a happily married woman lol).
I feel like you also did a long distance move recently and got engaged? So on top of managing health, you'd have to re-set up a whole bunch of medical relationships. @_@ That's so much work on top of the gatcha game of how much metabolism to do things is the thyroid going to provide in any given day. I think people burn out on camera facing work when everything is already stablish, without all that to juggle. I'm really glad the breaks (hopefully) help keep you from having to brute force types of working and there's enough diversity of work behind the camera that keeps things more sane. 😅
The second house is absolitely incredible. I didnt like that the first house is right next to a resident, like only a small wall between both sides of the one duplex. If I were them, I would be annoyed if tourists were constantly coming and going.
If you could get the 2nd house in this video… it would have SO MUCH POTENTIAL - as someone else said: the Neko Neko “Mansion” could host 2 sets of guests (upstairs & downstairs with communal kitchen etc)
I had the same thought! I actually think that would be really nice too because when you visiting Japan. Sharing stories or ideas would be really nice for when you don't know where to go or want to visit surprise places
@@MitsukiMimichoe Yh I can confirm this idea you’re thinking; I’m in japan now… got here 6th Nov & already my mate & I have gained some recommendations, tips and advice from those who have travelled here before Like we (at time of writing) have only been in the country for about 19hrs & already blown away by it all Kept saying yesterday (it’s 5am here) “it doesn’t feel real yet” (like being in a dream)
Love the idea! Having lower and upper, they can leave middle for common area and make 2 different rental areas, one upstairs, one downstairs! Sounds good!
@@TerahneeI think you are right but another toilet and another bathing room is something they could add. They have lots of space there. Would be expensive though.
I really enjoyed the 2nd house. I agree that splitting it into 2 rentals with a common floor would be a good idea. And if you’re afraid of how hard it is to find you could put together a video “walk with Me” that guides renters to the house from the closest stations.
As one of the lucky people who has stayed at Neko Neko Inn and hasn't been able to get a 2nd reservation yet, I am super excited about a potential 2nd house. Also so happy that more people will get to experience the amazingness of Sharla & Ushka's work on the house and their hospitality!
I have to admit that the whole intro I was just smiling ear to ear because Ushka's smile is just so contagious and precious honestly And huge congrats on the success! I hope that when I visit Japan soon that I can stay at Neko Neko Inn too! 💜 It's so great to see how much love and care you both have been putting into this project!
Like so many others have said, I really think the Second House has such potential and the view is absolutely stunning. People would stay there just for that!
A wheelchair accessible, disability friendly rental would do super well. Trying to find wheelchair accessible hotels is so a hard I’ve found for looking to visit Japan.
@phantagirlable I dunno. I was at a place in Shinagawa. Though it did have an inaccessible upstairs, the tub, bathroom, kitchen, and futon room on the first floor had larger doors/hallways. The only thing upstairs was more bedrooms and a small toilet room. So while not 100% accessible, it was not the worst. A ramp would be needed for the front door, but the fact that kitchen counters are already so low is kind of a feature instead of a bug. 🤔
I would love to see a collab with someone in a wheelchair, showing pros and cons for wheelchair users getting around Japan as it doesn’t look very wheelchair friendly around the streets and such.
if I purchased a small apartment in Japan, I would 100% trust Ushka and Sharla to help me renovate it. I have utmost confidence in their skills, craftsmanship and knowledge. 👍😊
That bush with the little orange flowers, it's called an osmanthus, I first smelled it in Korea my first autumn there and I was so confused because I kept smelling apricots everywhere but it was obviously not the season for it, then I realized it was this bush, lol.
That second place was really amazing. I remember a few years ago you had the tiniest patio space but you managed to craft it into a cozy area; hoping you can work your magic on your next rental property!
Friend groups are pretty common. It’s easier to go to Japan as a group since it’s so far and cost is a bit steep for shorter trips. Save on some expenses as a group.
have you considered a shared house? you could lock off the bedrooms and put the keys in lock boxes with key codes so that only the people staying in that room could get the key for that bedroom when they check in! (or do key code door locks) i think it would be cool to stay somewhere that you could have other travelers to share a common space with but also still have your own bedroom ☺️ that could also give you space to do some cute themes with each bedroom
I was literally just thinking of suggesting something like that. Like having just the top 2 floors as shared? Or have an option when booking if you are open to it being shared?
@@dismantled-the-heart yeah, imagine the two guests have a dispute or don't get along. They'd have to come over to negociate or fix the issue. It's just adding extra stress...
That dirt path will suck for someone dragging their suitcase in the rain and mud. I’m so happy you two are exploring and expanding your Neko Neko empire. Ooo that crack that goes from floor to ceiling in the first house is worrisome, but I would completely live in the second house.❤❤
I thought the same. That they were both out of breath after the journey it def would not be fun trying to get to your accommodation after any time travelling. It seemed like a slog
That first house scared me just in terms of all of the 'tells' that it is in spot that faces risks from landslides--that may well be tied to why there was that big crack going up the whole thing. Be sure you guys check the various hazard maps that have been put out--it's nice that in Japan property owners need to list potential hazards as part of the sales process, but it's better to know about a risk before visiting a location since once people fall in love with a place they visit any information about a looming hazard is going to feel totally unimportant. Thanks for your great videos! Always enjoyable!
Such a great benefit that comes from making a TH-cam channel when you do any business plans later on... you already have a face and audience and you start a AirB&B and boom, fully booked. If I ever get to travel to Japan I will try to book at one of yours... you might have a few by that time 😂
It just goes to show that, if you put time and love into something, it'll be a blast! I'm honestly not surprised the original Neko Neko Inn worked out so well! You all put a lot of passion into making something people would love! I have no doubt you'll do great this time, too!
The 2nd house could be def very attractive for larger travel groups eg families with kids (or grandparents). Or friend groups of 4+ Or maybe rent it out for people who wanna stay longer (eh 4 weeks+) n who would love the extra space 😊
It's great you're back. I was getting worried not seeing anything from you. As someone who has gone through burnout and all, it's always important to listen to how you feel. ❤️ sending lots of love from Germany. Your videos always bring me a sense of peace after stressful days.
8:40 the side door is in case of having water/liquids drip onto the wood in the living room. you can go to the kitchen space and put bags on the sink while grabbing a few towels to wipe self down with. Tokyo Portfolio channel showed a new house with a side door that leads to the kitchen from the side gate
Yay for a new video!!! I have needed a distraction after the worst week of my life. I had to put my dog down on Thursday (cancer) and have been having a hard time with depression and watching TH-cam has helped (I know that sounds stupid but it has been a good distraction) Ty Sharla for brightening my day ❤ Also the insta you posted with the second cat is so true! My second kitty is a little hellcat lol!
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss😢❤ Getting into TV shows and YT can be such a good distraction from real life sometimes. Sending you a huge hug!! 🫂
Many here said the house could be shared with some staying downstairs and some upstairs with common place free for all. I think that's a great idea. People who know you two from youtube are probably high on your renting list so that would give common things to talk. And people who rent communal spaces like this are open for starting talks with the other guests too and would find it fun too.
Literally THIS MORNING I was sitting here like "I REALLY miss Sharla" and then here you are! I'm soooo glad to see you back in action! Hi Ushka! I'm so excited for another Neko Neko Inn project! :) Congrats!!
Wow, I could imagine all the cool things you and Ushka would do to renovate. Honestly if I ever start a cat themed cafe or bakery, I would love to have a consultation with you guys. Neko neko inn looks awesome.
A communal share house for the second one with private bedroom spaces would be such a fun idea . it would give people a chance to connect and make friends with other likeminded travellers. The main considerations would be making it comfortable to have shared and private spaces, as well as extra upkeep work for you guys, such as managing multiple overlapping bookings, and end of stay cleaning/cleaning communal spaces etc. It has such potential to be such a fun and interesting space though!
the second house looks absolutely GORGEOUS , definitely buy it if you get a nice offer!! it has a lot of potential, monetary and otherwise, the view is amazing, the place is so bright and the garden!!!! i love it so much
My only concern would be how far those spaces seem from the center of Tokyo. That could curtail a lot of interest in them. The second place looked gorgeous though!
12:47 this streetview is amazing. Might be right out of a manga or anime, love it. And thank You for the video, was so nice to enjoy watching it after a long working day 🙂
just a piece of advice you guys may have to redo the roof because theres obviously a water leak when it rains. Also do a mold inspection because if you have a leak like that usually leads to mold.
A thought on the multiple rooms you provide guest with 2 keys one for the house and one for their bedroom. people could rent and number of rooms with group rates for multiple or all rooms. The kitchen living room and such could be open to all guest if it isn't a group. just a thought. best of luck.
The first one had a lot of charm, but you are right, so much needed repair. The second one has such a breathtaking view, and what an amazing well-established garden!
I was in Sendai about a month ago and there was a kinmokusei/osmanthus tree at the castle ruins and I genuinely just stood beside the tree inhaling the smell for a few minutes. Like a crazy person. And then found a bunch of things with that scent at Don Quijote.15/10, best smell ever.
Hi Sharla, great to see you. Hope you’re feeling better. And great to see the amazing Ushka too. We couldn’t be happier to hear a NekoNekoInn 2 is being planned. Our little family of 3 had the best time staying there in July and fell in love with Sangubashi. We’re returning in March and were sad to see NNI was completely sold out. Best wishes in the house hunt! ❤ Jenifer
In the second house I would probably make the bedroom facing the garden into i sitting area where you can sit and enjoy the garden. It looks like an amazing place to live!
Second house is gorgeous. Big windows, lots of natural light, beautiful garden... the area around is so nice too.great view! Maybe you can get a deal for it..
I'd knock those 2 tiny top floor bedrooms into 1 at the 2nd property. It's big enough to lose a small bedroom for comfort of a larger top floor bedroom.
The second place looked like it had potential as Neko Neko Villa lots of balconies with those views, and that garden 😻- kitchen was a bit tiny though! First place probably had too much work, and being attached to the neighbours unit might cause future problems… Hope you find another house soon!
I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well, Sharla; hopefully you're feeling better now! I can't tell you how excited I was to see your face, it's really made my morning!
it was fully booked when I tried staying at the inn when I was in Japan!! A second Neko Neko Inn sounds amazing!! I would love getting a second chance to stay.
I love both of the places! I know the first needs a lot of work but I think it has a lot of character. The second is great-feels like each room has its own view/balcony space and the garden!! 🌿🌷💕
Welcome back! The new houses look so exciting. I love the neighbourhood with the colourful trees, fruit trees and little library. It's so precious. 😍 I'd love to live there too!
Honestly that 1st house could be a nice little love nest for you and Chris, as it has 2 bedrooms that could be a home studio for each of you, and lots of windows and ledges for tuna and Marrow to watch the world from. Also house number 2, could also be a nice home for the kitties as well!
I've missed you wondered where you been, I've subscribed to secure for a year and always wait for you to show me the contents before I get mine, living in California it always comes two weeks late. So glad to see your alright
2nd one is definitely in better shape that why no doubt it's more expensive,I would get the 2nd one, first one looks like too much work especially with that big crack that looks like serious structure damage
Lovely to see your videos again Sharla and hope you're feeling better. In the second house if you go for it, you could do something else with some of the spaces, like open your market to other content creators on the move who need office space with good lighting, or a games/tv room for families with kids, gym room etc. There are so many ways to market the space if you're set.
That 2nd house is perfect for an inn especially with the views and all the patios. Imagine in the winter sitting outside and watching the snow fall. Ah perfect.
I just wanted to thank you for your videos. I’ve been a longtime subscriber and your videos are such a delight to watch at the end of a long day: informative, interesting and fun. Fellow cat lover here, so the cat theme is a definite bonus. ❤️
that second one is gorgeous, i can see the price being higher for the space and view but god it would be worth it cuz man i fell in love with the character
The second house is amazing with tons of potential! Imagine a family or a friend group there - everyone could have their own space! It just seemed so airy with the balconies, garden, and views 😻
that second one reminds me so much of the places sharla and chris were looking at. Plenty of room for offices and bedroom to be on different floors even. I can't be the only one that was thinking that when Sharla mentioned living there instead. But I have no idea how far away it is from the studio and things.
ปีที่แล้ว +1
I'm currently in Tokyo for 20 days and I know I would just absolutely DIE of pure joy if I ever accidentally met you on the street 🤩
Love the second one! Could have one of the bedrooms set up as an office. The first place looked like it would be a money pit, potential roof damage/leak and maybe even foundation issues.
I LOVE the window seats the 1st house offers, but the views and the garden for the 2nd one have me sold. Looking forward to your next Airbnb, hope you’ll find a place soon!❤
Yay!! We love you Sharla, thank you for posting again. I know it is a lot of work and you have been diligent for so long in posting. Definitely take breaks and feel free to change it up. Congratulations on the second Inn, it is a dream in a dream to visit Japan and stay at a cat themed bnb. Shoutout to Ushka for being a perpetual ray of sunshine. ❤ I especially loved the neighborhood tour with you two, that’s a format I could see working well for future videos.
I LOVE YOUR NEW ADVENTURE !!!! ... Id love to come to Japan!!! I love librarys... All the fruit trees and sweet smelling one to boot. How fun is this ?!?!! Wish you the best you guys 🐱
If you get the second house you could make it solo traveler friendly and rent it out by room! Probably more logistics to think about but also potential to make more $$$.
2:16 oh my god YES i vacationed through the countryside in south korea recently and osmanthus was blooming all around the inn i was staying at. i had never smelled anything like it before and i legitimately thought it was some synthetic fragrance that they must've sprayed around their garden. i had no idea it was natural until i asked the innkeeper what it was. now i have osmanthus candles all around my house lmao
Coming from the perspective of a USA person, I really love the huge/deep closet spaces in both the places you visited. I know that the tradition was to have them for daytime storage of bedding/futon. What else motivated the generous depth of closets like those?
2nd house is a no-brainer! Doesn't need immense renovations, basically just fix up the kitchen and then you can immediately start getting profit if you wanted to pay off the cost and any future renovations!! The garden?? The patios??? Incredible!
The neighborhood reminds me of "whisper of the heart" a lot. It would become a really lovely place to stay, if you could afford it!!!😊 Also...the second house...I would just buy it to live in it, loove the different levels, plenty of rooms that can be a study, a gym, a reading/hobby corner...and the garden!!! 😚👌🏻
I could totally see the second one for groups or you could turn it into a group housing situation! Add keypads to each bedroom and have people rent a room and have a shared community space, I think that'd be such a fun idea especially cause a lot of the people coming to the inn are your fans! It could bring community together and people could make friends and have people to hangout with during their trip
Sorry to hear you haven't been well. Lots of prayers and love being sent to you. I love house hunting. I hope you can work something out with that last house. Maybe instead of a Neko Inn you can just rent the house out and eventually have a Neko ll.
Always cool to see this stuff. First house looked like way too much work but second house looked manageable. Both had really interesting locations and layout imo.
The second one if you can get a deal on it you guys definitely should do it! It's so beautiful! would be so fun seeing what you could do to so much space :)

I just got back from Tokyo 2 weeks ago and saw these flowers (2:30) and loved them! They are so pretty and now I know what they are called! :D
Wow! This area is giving “whisper of the heart” vibes! I love it ❤
That second house is SO cool. I love the very vertical layout. And that neighborhood looks so charming and inviting.
This neighborhood looks sooo nice. I seriously would just love to walk around all day. So cute. Hope you find something in the area!
Welcome back!!! We've missed you a lot!
When my sons and I visit Japan one day, we are definitely visiting nekoneko. They adore cats. Even just one night would be awesome.
Neko Neko Villa would be such a good name for the larger property. 😺
I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well, Sharla; hopefully you're feeling better now! I can't tell you how excited I was to see your face, it's really made my morning!
20:14 sharla's Hostel! Rent out each room and have travelers from all over sharing the space!
it was fully booked when I tried staying at the inn when I was in Japan!! A second Neko Neko Inn sounds amazing!! I would love getting a second chance to stay.
I love both of the places! I know the first needs a lot of work but I think it has a lot of character. The second is great-feels like each room has its own view/balcony space and the garden!! 🌿🌷💕
The back garden of that second home is TO DIE FOR!
16:15 I love how both of you operate on cat sensibilities, 'Yeah, we could jump up into that closet and sleep. It's a bed!'
The crack in the walls is signs of a bad foundation. Be safe ladies ❤
Agreed the first house was cheap for a reason thinking foundation issues as well I suspect a new roof
Sharla!!! I missed you!!! It’s been so long! Glad you’re back!
Thank you!! Missed you guys too!! 🫶🏻
Hard no on the first one. And YES! YES! YES! on the second one. I agree, I want to live there, too. The money saved on reno is worth it.
That 2nd house is perfect for an inn especially with the views and all the patios. Imagine in the winter sitting outside and watching the snow fall. Ah perfect.
That second house had me hooked with just the garden alone, but those views were amazing too!
Wow Sharla, you're starting to sound quite British! 😍 it suits you! BTW, the garden in the 2nd house is amazing!
I'm currently in Tokyo for 20 days and I know I would just absolutely DIE of pure joy if I ever accidentally met you on the street 🤩
House related content is literally my fav 🤩
Man both had such beautiful views. Amazing stuff. Such a nice vibe too. Wouldnt mind living there, at all.
Great to see you back. Sorry you’ve not been feeling well. Ushka is such a sweetie. Lovely to see her too. ❤❤
Well that's a perfect end of my day and a great start of the week! Yay!
I think the 2nd location has more potential than the first. Good luck!
It’s lovely isn’t it! That little garden! 🥹✨🌷
in the bottom floor, if the structure lets, you can knock down a wall and instead of 2 small rooms, make one big entertainment area
Coming from the perspective of a USA person, I really love the huge/deep closet spaces in both the places you visited. I know that the tradition was to have them for daytime storage of bedding/futon. What else motivated the generous depth of closets like those?
lots of futons stored there
2nd house is a no-brainer! Doesn't need immense renovations, basically just fix up the kitchen and then you can immediately start getting profit if you wanted to pay off the cost and any future renovations!! The garden?? The patios??? Incredible!
You could even live in part of it and rent out the other haha
I'm dreaming of the day I can come stay in one of your Neko Neko Inns 😊 so excited to hear that you're expanding!
Another potential house renovation series? Sign me up ✨
Sorry to hear you haven't been well. Lots of prayers and love being sent to you. I love house hunting. I hope you can work something out with that last house. Maybe instead of a Neko Inn you can just rent the house out and eventually have a Neko ll.
that second house WOW. I am with the other commenters, if you guys can get house #2, so much potential!
Always cool to see this stuff.
First house looked like way too much work but second house looked manageable. Both had really interesting locations and layout imo.
The second one if you can get a deal on it you guys definitely should do it! It's so beautiful! would be so fun seeing what you could do to so much space :)
I don't usually comment, but I sure missed your content, Sharla! Thanks so much for another awesome video!
