LS tractors are excellent even when one forgets about cost comparisons. When you bring cost into the equation, it is a no-brainer. With a farm background and many tractors of all makes, I am on my third LS (moved from an open station compact to a cabbed compact and now a utility). All have been highly reliable and a pleasure to operate. Funny thing was before I bought the cabbed compact, I thought I wanted a 4066. JD dealers hardly paid attention to me at their shops and none followed up with me even though I left my contact info with them. I guess if you are not spending a minimum of $500K, you are just a distraction from real bottom line profit. My LS dealer knocks himself out having been responsive both before and after the sale. Go figure.

Own a XR3135. Manual trans, not hydrostat. The 2 main reasons I purchased which I wish you would have noticed, is the heavy duty steel frame of the loader and especially the mount and how it attaches to the tractor. It is masssive compared to Deere, Mahindra and Kubota. My place is in the Arizona desert and full of rock. This tractor has been absolutly impressive. I have rebuilt the bucket once because my wife and I wore the bottom of the bucket out until it broke off. It now has bolt on cutting edge and 3/8" floor. The other as touched on, is the skid steer quick attach. I also have 2 extra hydraulic circuits which allow a skeleton grapple bucket on the front and still have 2 extra ports on the rear. I do have the better seat with arm rests and weight adjustments. I'm 6 ft and plenty of room, no sore knees from running all day. The only problem we had was learning how to properly do the ReGen. If it is not done correctly, it goes to a flashing warning which needs the dealer to clear. But I'll bet that is common on all this new equipment. Otherwise, I could not see giving $10k more for a Deere or 'Bota. This tractor is heavy duty, the others would have broke in these rocks. Thanks

A nice comparison. I bought a LS XR4155 W/Cab for 35000 with 3 remotes. The comparable JD was 53000. I used the money I saved to by a new grapple, new 72" rototiller, new 78" flail mower, and planter, and still had money left over. Everything works great.

I've owned an LS tractor for several years now (see my TH-cam channel). I have nothing but positive things to say about it. My dealer has been really great to work with. However, he is closed on Saturdays, so on that one Saturday I needed a small part, I drove the extra hour to the New Holland Dealer to get it. While I was there, I walked the lot, and saw LS Mtron placards on most (not all) their tractors.
About the quality of LS vs Kubota or JD. I used to be a JD mechanic. And like you said, they have their problems too. Most of the smaller John Deeres, including the 3039R, are made by Yanmar. And quality control is an issue. The LS also has many options that come standard vs the JD, things like the draw bar, rear remotes, etc. What you're paying for, with the JD, is the name and dealer support. I'll admit that LS is lacking in dealers, but they are growing and getting better.
Kubota, in my opinion, is one of the best lines out there! My issue that I have with Kubota is that they KNOW they are the best, and they demand a price tag to match.
Thank you for not slamming the LS brand. Many people only show the issues and negativity. LS tractors are solid. If they were not, the New Holland wouldn't put their name on them.
I will do a video to answer yours.

Was originally interested in purchasing a New Holland and discovered thru research that LS manufactured the New Holland under the New Holland brand. I purchased a LS XG3032 4wd with front end loader and backhoe attachment. I have been clearing my land with the aid of Piranha blade attached to the front end loader bucket. Once I had a good understanding of the exhaust system regeneration process, I have found this tractor to be very reliable and productive. The horse power output of the tractor and backhoe attachment has been more than expected. I have also found the parts being very competitive in price. As with any equipment, a regimented maintenance plan is critical to the life of the machine.
I am very satisfied with this brand tractor.

I just couldn't get past the dealer. Couldn't stand the guys at all. I'm on a 5 acre hobby farm. Most of the tractor dealers around won't talk to you unless you own 1000 acres. I bought an LS XR4040H in 2016, and have over 425 hours on it. It has run like a champ since day 1. The only parts issue is that the ignition switch is getting 'touchy' - it wants you to turn it just to the right spot, not beyond it - but even that hasn't been a real issue. Simple machine without a lot to go wrong with it and nothing has. Change fluids and filters when needed, and keep right on working. Just depends on whether you want to spend $10K more to pay for another company's marketing and t-shirts, or whether you want to use that money on something better. I ended choosing the LS (came with front end loader, box scraper, 6' rear mower, tires loaded), and also bought a WoodMaxx MX9900 PTO-drive wood chipper, AND an Alum-Line Dual-line Livestock trailer, and the grand total for all three was STILL less than what the green folks wanted for their tractor alone.

Good to see you cover more colors other than green & orange. Back in May purchased a brand new 2021 LS MT125 from a dealer 17 miles from were I work and 31 miles from my home. It came with the FEL and a pinned on bucket but the bucket was setup for the LS small QA assembly. I ordered the QA assembly, 3rd function remote hydraulic diverter kit, and brush grapple. Along with that I ordered the backhoe and bought a trailer for it all. Understanding that shipping on stuff coming out of South Korea is taking longer than usual, it took 6 months to finally get everything delivered to and installed by my dealer. It's been a great little machine and now has 112 hours on it. Overall I'm happy with my decision to go blue and for the money I spent I feel I got more than if I had gone green or orange. I put 3.5" BORA spacers on the rears before I ever did anything with it as well as put hard foam rubber in all 4 tires. I didn't go through my dealer for those but I have zero regrets on spending that money on top of what I spent to buy the tractor and all the accessories. Keep making quality videos in red, green, orange, or (my favorite) blue.

Sod busting, tilling, bush hogging, gravel grading, moving trailers, dirt moving, fork work, moving hay bails, skidding trees… it does just about everything I need. The service dept is what sold me on it (and that I got a lot more tractor for the price than I would with the other brands). I bought an LS MT225, which is a 25 HP hydrostatic tractor, not the smallest one, but the next size up. I bought it about a year ago in 2021. My buddy bought another brand on the same day so we did a lot of compairing. I'll give the good and the bad. The LS came with quite a few more features that I liked. Here are some of the good.
    1) three speed hydrostatics, his only had two.
    2) quick connect on the front bucket. Neither of us have other attachments yet, but I have a lot more choices
    3) I have cruise control, his was an optional added feature. I haven't used it much, but its nice when you want it
    Now for the bad.
    1) I had a problem with my rear PTO within the first 20 hours where it would pop out of gear. Long story short out of the first 7 months I owned my tractor they had it for 4 months. The consistant reason from the dealer was waiting for parts. LS is gaining popularity, but is still a relatively small brand. Where I live there aren't any other options for LS dealers within 3-4 hours drive so I'm stuck with the one small dealer and parts that aren't coming fast. When I call the dealer they tell me to bring it in. My buddy who bought the other brand from a larger dealer had something break when I was at his house and they offered to send someone to his home. The difference in quality of service from small dealers to large dealers is definately something to consider, and the wait time on parts for a smaller manufacturer can be gauling.
Long story short I like the LS and think it is a good tractor set up very comfortably with a lot of small things which come standard that make it easy to use. Parts and dealer choice in your area are the only down sides.

I have had a NH TZ18D since 2004. 600 hours. A lot of loader work, box blade work and straight blade work. Also grass and post hole digging. Only problem was a leak in a hydraulic line to the loader. NH/LS tractors are built to last.

Very fair analysis, buy the best that you can afford without overextending yourself and try to get something as new or limited hours as possible. A tractor that is in good working order ,regardless of color, is better than not having one

On your loader comparison... For hydraulics and loaders there are several things that determine capacity and speed. Hydraulic gallons per minute determines how fast an implement works, hydraulic pressure and cylinder diameter determine the force generated. If you put fatter cylinders on your loader it will lift more, but take longer to lift. You could then upgrade to a bigger GPM pump to get your lift speed back to where you want it. The mechanical design of the loader is also a factor, e.g.. length, shape, pivot points, cylinder mounting locations. A longer loader might lift higher, but not have as much lift capacity. I'm guessing this loader geometry is the main difference you are seeing in the Deere and LS loaders.

Thanks for this comparison! We bought a Kioti CK25 around 2010 (we are in Belgium), mechanic gearbox. The tractor proved to be very good at work, both front loader and with rear attachments. But we had several reliability problems : fuel injection pump, synchro reverser, brakes and clutch early worn out... But the biggest problem was with parts availability and vendors. Currently, the tractor is inactive because we weren't able to find a mechanic to do the repair! (I personnaly run JDs 😉).

I like my baby blue. Over a year and only issue was a broken set of loader valve ball ends due to them loosening up. I’d buy again long before the more expensive names. I actually own a John Deere and am what I’d consider a Deere man as well, and after looking at the 1023-1025 I didn’t like them, I also looked at Kubotas bx23’s and didn’t like them either. Wasn’t even about price, orange is my favorite color….. but when I sat on the ls, and crawled around it and stuff, I said yeah, this is laid out better for me, and I actually chose it cause I liked it better.

I have a New Holland Work Master 25s same as LS MT125 it is a 2018 model about 200 hours on it now and I have had only 2 warranty issue and they were taken care of with no issues. I did go with New Holland over LS because of dealer support. My dealer sells New Holland, Kubota, Cat, and a couple other major brands and has been in business for over 40 years. My tractor would fall in the 1025r and the BX range and my uncle owns a 1025r and my New Holland will stomp them both. I don't mow and I don't swap my bucket so some of the strong suits of the other don't mean anything to me. I slapped Pat's Quick hitch on the back and I am happy as can be. My Bucket has a bolt on blade and the bucket nice and heavy duty. I saved well over 4k on both the JD and Kubota and I am very pleased. Again know what you need out of your tractor and buy what you need. Plus New Holland Blue is the best looking tractor color out there LOL. Nice Video and great review

I Have had 2 Kubota tractors and never had issues with them. I had a BX25 & L2501 .. I did notice the XJ2025H had more power in the backhoe & the front loader, It was easy to use and worked great. I am in the process of upgrading.

I will say..restoring 5 older john deere garden tractors and every part I have asked my local dealer for they have been able to grab it off a shelf and/or order it for me. And these are 35 year old tractors. It's not the green paint you pay for, it's the parts availability afterwards.

I have a 2011 LS S3010 that I've had for 10 years now. Its been a solid, reliable machine. Very happy with it.
I see a lot of people online saying JD or Kubota is the way to go, that it's worth the extra money. For me, it wasn't a question of spending the extra 10k-15k or not. It was a question of getting a tractor or not. Budgets are not open ended, and getting a green or orange tractor instead of a blue tractor may mean you have to get a smaller machine than what you need, or putting off the attachments that you need.

Sure they aren't the best brand out there but for the price and features you get plus the warranty that actually is covered by the manufacturer you can't go wrong in my opinion. If I were to buy a green or orange one I'd have gotten nowhere near the same machine for the money.

Nice job on this Courtney. Love seeing other brands reviewed. I'm a new Kubota owner and I agree that the dealer was a big factor in my choice. I was shopping last year and two local Deere dealers didn't return my call or emails. The Kubota dealer did, answered all my stupid questions, and got a sale...then another sale of a lawnmower...then another implement... then two more implements.... So if those two John Deere dealers in Central NY are reading this, (smash cut to Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman) Big mistake!

I live about 5 miles from a JD dealership, and I have nothing against the place. That said, in September 2015, I drove about 80 miles away and bought a new LS 3037H with a front loader and back blade for around $25,000. This was 'several' thousand less than a comparable three-series JD would have cost. As of now I have about 800 hours on it and have had ZERO mechanical problems. I drive it to the nearby JD dealer for service that I can't or don't want to do myself. It has a standard quick attach for front end attachments, and I have purchased several. I mostly use it on my property with a grapple for tree and brush removal, ATV trail mowing and maintenance, and snow removal. I really couldn't be happier with the machine. Since I bought it an LS dealership has opened much closer than the place where I purchased it.

A big difference to me besides the lower upfront cost for a TYM, was the features included standard. As I recall LS was similar for the same tractor offered by NH. You got more buying the LS branded model. On the TYM it was a nicer seat, better 3-point arms, draft control, two rear remotes, larger flow rates, higher lift capacities both ends, prewired trailer connector, rear work light. Many of these features were not present, or cost significantly more to add on (the remotes in particular) with JD or Kubota.
My only compliant is the slower loader speed (the cost of higher lifting capacity) and that you really cannot operate both at the same time reliably.
That backhoe is the same as sold by Titan attachments. Which has Besko valves in it, a South Korean company.
The width will be based on ag tires in the narrowest wheel mounting orientation. R4s are much wider.

I’ve got a old work truck that looks like a wore out work truck and I also have a new Chevy HIGH COUNTRY 4 door truck. When I pulled up in front of the store in that work truck Deere nor Kubota would even come outside to even talk to me. I come back latter that week in the new 70,000 dollar truck and they were happy to come out then. From my experience Kubota and Deere cater to the rich that’s my story and im sticking to it

Had a subcompact Kubota for 19 years. The little Kubota was one tough little tractor and gave great service. Plowing snow however showed its limitations so I got a new tractor. I've had my LS XG3025H for 3 and a half years without a problem. Got a 7' hydraulic plow in front with a 7' grader blade in the back. With chains on the front, this thing is a snow eating beast. I skid out 60' pine and fir logs (up to 16" on the butt end) and it never complains. As set up, the LS was about $5000 less than an equivalent Kubota. JD was never on my radar...I have friends that have them and all I heard was complaining, mostly little things, but still. One wants a new LS after watching mine work. I guess time will tell, but very happy so far.

Excellent video. I'm a long time Yanmar owner. There are tradeoffs in buying the less popular brands but I've rarely needed parts or service so it's okay. It comes down to your intended use and available budget. If I used mine in commercial service, I would be willing to spend more. For small farm use, most all the available brands do a good job and provide a good value to the owners. And for what it's worth, sometimes a person just likes other colors to choose from. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

Good review. When I was shopping for a tractor early this year I looked at the big 2, the New Holland/LS and the Kioti. Then I stopped in at one of the bigger local dealers and they convinced me to look at one I hadn’t considered…Branson. 3515H to be specific. It was the heaviest, had the best loader capacity, but what I really liked was the mechanical simplicity of the non turbo engine that was co-produced with Cummins and the all cast iron rear end. The value and a 7 year warranty was also hard to argue with. I ended up going that route and it’s been an absolute workhorse in our property services company. Just land planed a shared community gravel driveway with it today.

With loaded tires it weighs enough to handle everything I have asked of it. I traded my 2000 New Holland TC45D for a JD3039R. I looked at the NH because I really liked how mine operated, but I also wanted a cab and the mid mount mower and the NH (or LS) with the cab didn’t have that option. One of my biggest complaints is the view to the front, which was way better in the New Holland. I find I have to try and look around the engine with the John Deere to just see where I am at with the loader. I never had that issue with the NH. I also miss that faster dumping with the NH. I keep thinking there is a problem with the JD and how it dumps. I thought that was interesting when you mentioned that.
I’m glad your branching out. I kept thinking there are so many other brands that didn’t seem to be represented.

Great review Kourt. As a tractor enthusiasts I like em all. Another thing I like about LS is the color. Great looking machine. No matter the brand, sometime or another your going to have issues. I've owned different tractors for 30 years and in 2018 for the very first time I went and bought a brand new 3025 E. Two weeks later I had buyers remorse. I think the "E" stands for entry level . The front end loader will not pick up a 500# fuel cell. Not only have I had hydraulic issues the wiring on it is terrible. Keeps blowing 15 amp fuses. The electric PTO takes 20 to 30 seconds for the implement to kick on that is if it doesn't blow a fuse and shut the tractor down. I've had it back to the dealership twice and each time the kept it for 45 days and still have the same problems. Its the luck of the draw, whether you get a good service department or a bad one. I've seen good reviews on LS and like every other brand I have seen bad ones. Wish you all the best.

Hey Mr.Courtney, the ONLY thing wrong with that Tractor is the Trashy, low-rider buck-board excuse for a seat. You should be a "nice-guy" & scrap the seat, either go to your custom supply inventory or get a cement block & bungy cord to out fit this rig for the customer. It surely out loads any L series Kubota l have seen or used. My Kubota Mx5200 TLB would have a hard time keeping up with the LS's loader performance. The Kubota bh92 backhoe would "bury" the LS on performance. Thank you for the Excellent "hands-on" vidio presentation. Happy safe tractoring & keep this kind of vidio presentations up.

I was pleasantly surprised that I could get this part at a reasonable price and only took a week to get. When we bought our property of 11.5 acres it had a 54hp New Holland. It only had a loader but it was a beast when it came to lift capacity. It was 15 years old and was used hard and put away wet from the previous owner and was showing its age. It was too big for my property with numerous oak trees to maneuver around and hilly terrain. I bought a JD2038R and have been very happy with it. One of the things that drove me nuts with the New Holland was the dealer support which was worthless. That’s because they paid the lowest wages possible and couldn’t keep good workers. You need to check out the local dealer support before you buy. I ended up getting my NH worked on at the local John Deere dealer who did a fabulous job so when I was ready to switch tractors they got my first consideration.

Very interesting. One thing I've noticed with the other brands is the SCVs seem to be sloppy. My brother in law owns a Mahindra and the loader is sloppy and everything feels cheap. As far as loader lift capacity, I'm sure the geometry of the loader has something to do with it, if the cylinders and system pressures are similar. If the loader of the LS is slower, it could have larger cylinders pushing that lift capacity up.

I did have to replace the computer in it which was highly frustrating because there were only two servicing dealers, both about an hour drive, and I picked the wrong one to do the work. All dealers are not created equal! Joes Tractor in Thomasville, NC was fantastic and I’ve done more business with them since. I’ve thought about trading it for a Kubota or JD cause they have dealers within 15 and 20 minutes respectively, but to get something in a comparable price range I’d simply have to give up too much tractor. I enjoy your videos and was pleased to see this review of LS.

But all my research lately into the RK tractors, the Kioti, and the Mahindra have really showed me that they’re catching up to the big players. I wouldn’t hesitate to consider something OTHER than Kubota or John Deere. I think you get a lot more bang for the buck. You’re right - less dealerships, and less forum support. But if you have a local dealership with a good service department for the brand you’re looking at, I wouldn’t worry about those issues. - Chad

I agree as well. I'm buying a farm next year to split off from the family farm and I've dug into tractors for the last 6 months. If I had an industrial operation, I'd probably go mainstream brand for all the features - GPS, connectivity, state of the art, etc. But for a simple homestead up to farms under 50 acres, the B-grade utility tractors are more than enough. I eliminated Deere, Massey, Case IH, and New Holland on price alone. Kioti was out for parts. Kubota on weight/value. I travel a bit so I even got to look into foreign tractors in Netherlands, Italy and Brazil. Claas was good. I got down to two: 6K to 8K series in Mahindra or M5 to M7 series in LS. The chassis and frames are similar: solid, guarded, bulky. They both have the Mitsubishi 4 cylinder common rail diesel engine. Their weights and strength are unmatched for value.

I bought a Kubota for the local dealer and resale value but I was really impressed with the kioti/bobcat tractors. The kioti liked to be built well and I really liked the super wide but low center of gravity for stability.

Love my LS XR3135HC 35 HP cab model. My dealer is close and has been a dealer since the 60s. He was closer than orange or green dealers. I reserched a lot before buying have owned the tractor for about 2 years and I have not had a problem to date. All the best from Greensboro NC.

I've got an MT7101CPS and in 5 months I have over 120hrs. I love it and I'm looking at getting an MT357H to do the smaller jobs where the 100hp isn't needed. We use our tractor for haying, plowing, disking, road building and it's been a great tractor. Added the third remote for the rear hydraulics and it came with the third function already plumbed on the loader. The New Holland dealer has been pretty impressed with it as he wanted to see how different they are from the New Holland tractors. The NH/Case has a little bit better fit and finish and polish, but for $25,000 more for basically the same tractor, it had better be.
The R-14 tires are amazing and I was skeptical of them when they first came out but using them plowing, disking and heavy dirt work have been impressive and their road manners are great and smooth

My buddy has the equivalent NH tractor. It’s a beast. I think your review was pretty spot on. He has loaded tires (no backhoe) and even with a 6’ brush hog on, the loader wants to lift the rear end. We cut fire wood in the winter and use that tractor to move logs. Lifting a log with the loader and a chain can be quite an experience at times and that’s a hard loader to go slow with. Although the numbers on loader lift capacity can sway you from one machine to another, I think this can be quite dangerous; especially for a newer operator. I think this is another area that JD and Kubota put consideration into when designing their machines.

I have a New Holland Boomer 41 cab tractor made by LS. I bought this because I have a New Holland dealer close. I have 800 hours on the tractor and have not had any problems. Done the required maintenance and the tractor is a workhorse. Mine has a Shirbaura engine that has been super!

I was set on a JD after months of studying. The biggest reason was that I can throw a rock and hit a dealer. Until I received a call about an LS with several pieces of equipment for a great price. And, it still had 4 years of warranty left. LS4145. I have had it for 7 years now. I have been wholly impressed. AND,,,,,, there is a dealer 15 minutes from me if I ever have an issue. One other thing. I had read in the green and orange forums that LS was good. But, parts availability was poor. I have not seen this. Granted I have only needed parts that I broke. But, they were there. I have not had any real issues yet.

I have a MT225S for over a year now, & very happy with it, Loader & backhoe quick release, the seat is comfy with adjustable arm rests, adjustable seat height, tilt steering wheel, cruse control, Yanmar engine.( have front & rear forks for what I do ) it also has mid mount capable, & with 3 speed hydro it makes for a good day. ( & over all is smother than my past tractor & others I’ve used new or old.)

I have a LS mt-350e I bought new in 18. Dealer is around 30-40 mins away. Only had one issue under warranty dealer sent me the part and it was installed. I have it with the backhoe attachment and paid 29k out the door. It's my first tractor and I've been very happy with it.

Something to clean bird craps off gagges and seat. Shaft extender to assist with quick hitch distance. Jacks or blocks to put attachments off ground. Also to sharpen cutting blades.

10:55 That's an interesting comment about Kubota's paint. First I've heard about this issue and I've been on the tractorbynet forum for 4 years now. I used Messicks video and comparisons to other brands to make my determination (right or wrong) and feel the Kubota is the Toyota reliability in the tractor world. I also found that when pricing tractors that most other brands were within $1K-$2K of Kubota, if not closer. If I bought an LS I would want a dealer within 20 miles in case I needed warranty work.

That's what I found when pricing sub-compact TLB models...the LS, Kioti, etc. were all too close in price ($1-2k) to the Kubota. Most were closer to $1k in price, which to me wasn't worth giving up the better dealer support and aftermarket support (for example try to find a belly skid plate for the LS MT125 vs. the Kubota BX, or an aftermarket backhoe bucket, etc.)

One thing I will mention about SSQA.
Our 3039R Cab was purchased used already upgraded to SSQA from factory with the black HD bucket. The plates on the tractor side are about an inch wider than "standard" and don't fit all skid steer attachments. Our RK37 has SSQA standard and it has the "normal" size plates and has fit everything so far.
