    It will work as long as the volume of water inside the tank and outlet tube or hose is greater than the volume inside the inlet tube or hose. The vacuum inside the tank will pull the water in from the source as the water drains from the outlet; the volume in the tank will act as the force or prime mover. It will fail if the proper balance is not met or no vacuum. This siphon method is widely used in irrigations in southeast Asia and in some other parts of the world. Great video, nice working project.

      @@sibaprasadmukharjee9900 Assuming your inlet tube or hose has a radius of 1 inches or 2 inches in diameter and with 50ft depth or height from the source, it will contain a volume of 28.3168 Liters. You'll need a vacuum tank that will contain at least twice that amount, maybe around 60 Liters for proper suction. Also, the outlet pipe/tube/hose must be a little larger in radius compared to the inlet pipe, and have a trompe air trap to catch the air bubbles entering through the outlet pipe, in order not to compromise the vacuum inside the tank. Here's a great design idea: th-cam.com/video/gbK7PTE8PEE/w-d-xo.html here's another design idea, but this one lacks the trompe air trap between the outlet pipe and vacuum tank th-cam.com/video/GTnRakv1A4A/w-d-xo.html

      Hello! I just came across this design. I believe the deeper we go we have to decrease the inlet diameter / increase the width of the vessel (so the water in it applies more pressure to the exit, and therefore won't be blocked by the pressure in the inlet required to draw water from deeper). Did you try anything during this year?

    if you think that the total weight of the water inside the barrel which is heavier than the total weight of the water inside the whole length of the suction pipe to suck the water from inside the suction pipe while the barrel is closed and the level of water inside the barrel is getting low and creating a vacuum, you are wrong. this setup is not workable and would not work. Regardless of volume or shape or weight of water inside the barrel, the pressure head is solely determined by the height and density of the water inside the barrel and not its volume or shape or weight. Likewise the pressure head inside the suction pipe is also determined by the vertical height of water inside the suction pipe. In this setup, the pressure head inside the barrel is less and can never be higher than that of the pressure head inside the suction pipe, hence, water would not flow towards the discharge pipe. There is something hidden in this setup which shows water is flowing towards the discharge pipe. Just remember that not in any way we could violate the laws of thermodynamics.

      I don’t agree with you. Firstly we are not talking about pressure head as there is a partial vacuum in both the barrel and the pipe. By sealing the top of the barrel and opening the outlet you will create a partial vacuum. The weight of water in the barrel is greater than the weight of water in the pipe, so water will be sucked up. However, as you know, you cannot pump water uphill without adding energy. In this case the energy is the stored water in the barrel. For this to work, the barrel must lose water faster than it is drawing water up. When the barrel has emptied this will stop working. I.e. this “costs” more water than it pumps.

    • @edgarcordova4534
      @edgarcordova4534 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@milespostlethwaite1154 if you think that because the volume or weight of water in the barrel is greater than that of the volume or weight of water in the suction and there is vacuum, you are WRONG. The opposing pressure heads are what we should measure here, and not even weights or volumes or shapes. The downward pressure of water, say 1 meter high, with a volume of say one cubic meter, has the same downward pressure with water of say 1 million cubic meter of the same height because we are talking about substance of the same density. Don't mislead people and lose some resources by trying to violate the laws of thermodynamics.

      To get water in the line initially, submerge the entire line in water and make sure to remove any bubbles/air. Then keep one end submerged and cover/seal the other end with your hand. Keep your hand on the end of the line and quickly remove from water and move below water line of siphoning pool. Once below the water line remove your hand and the water will flow. If the end in the siphon pool gets air the siphon will stop. Basic siphon can be used for almost anything. It’s a really great tool to use if done properly especially the way it’s done in the video. Water can be moved uphill with no power once the system is set up and working properlyAs long as everything is perfectly sealed

      This thing doesn't work. I don't know where he hid the energy source, but it simply cannot work as he wants you to believe. The system itself is a syphon, but syphons work only if the outlet is lower than the surface of water in the well. When water goes out from the barrel and a vacuum is formed inside it, there is no reason for the system to lift water from the well instead of simply let some air in from the outlet. He has other pipes going into the well, I suppose he just connected the pipe from the barrel to one of those pipes that exit the well. He has another vessel of water somewhere else, which is higher than the outlet of the barrel, and he is "pumping" water from there. Since this vessel is higher, what we see is water boringly flowing down.

    You have to look at it as 2 components
    1. A syphon on the inlet side. Syphon has a higher head upstream than down stream. Upstream head is atmospheric head at 10.33 mH2O
    Even though the inlet point on the drum is placed higher than the surface water level in the river the pressure head at this point is lower than 10.33 mH2O. Resulting water flowing from river into the drum
    2. Normal water flow from high water level to low water level at the outlet side. This possible because the head on the outlet is greater than atmospheric pressure 10.33 mH2O. Although the pressure in the drum is less than 10.33 mH2O the available head in the drum plus the vertical height of the water level in the drum is greater than 10.33 mH20. So water is flowing from the drum to the outlet. An air relief pipe is necessary to prevent air running into the drum. The total pressure at the outlet = static head + velocity head

    • @sciencefreak9070
      @sciencefreak9070 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If the outlet is higher than the water level in the water reservoir this can't work. It is not possible to lift water to a higher level without an input of external energy. The idea, that a vacuum could pull up the water, is false. An increasing vacuum would first stop the flow at the outlet before it would be strong enough to pull up water from a lower level. Since the height of the water column at the input side is bigger than the height of the water column at the output side.
      Of course, if the outlet is lower than the water level in the water reservoir it can work. In this case it is a normal siphon and no drum is needed. It is sufficient to prefill the pipes with water.

      It is rather obvious that this only works with an outlet lower than the level of the water source. To lift water or any other object higher up needs an input of energy. Everything else would violate best assured laws of physics.

    I guess it could be useful for irrigation of a garden on a drip line, but I have no well or cistern from which to draw the water. So, I’m stuck with my elevated rainwater catchment basin and gravity feed.

      you can still give a try, do not believe on others negative comments. Try yourself. If you succeed then flowing water could be used on ram pump. Using ram pump you can lift water upwards forcefully

    It's impractical , with consumption of energy work done is impossible
    Even if it pull some water due to negative pressure in cane ,the incoming water in can is less than the outgoing water.

      As long as the outlet is below the inlet it works perfectly, and the barrel isn't necessary.
      If the outlet is higher than the inlet it will of course not work.

    เป็นไปไม่ได้ น่าจะมีคนดำน้ำรออยู่ข้างล่าง โดยการเอาปลายท่อ ยาง ที่อยู่ด้านล่างเสียบเข้ากับปลายท่อแป๊บสีน้ำเงิน ที่ต่อออกมาจากปั้ม เมื่อปั้มไม่ทำงาน น้ำที่อยู่ในถังเหล็กก็จะไหลย้อนกลับลงไปตามท่อ ปลายท่อถูกถอดเซ็ควาวออกไปแล้ว เพื่อต่อกับท่อ ยาง เมี่อท่อสองต่อเข้าด้วยกัน น้ำก็จะไหลตามท่อยางขึ้นข้างบนอีกครั้ง ออกไปยังถังสีขาวที่สร้างขื้นมา เพราะถังเหล็ก สูงกว่าถังขาว เมื่อน้ำในถังเหล็กหมด น้ำก็จะหยุดไหล สรุปก็กาลักน้ำดีๆนี้เอง แค่คิดเล่นๆนะครับ
