  • THIS IS PART TWO OF OUR HOW TO BUILD A 3D PRINTER FROM SCRATCH SERIES!
    Now that the frame and motion system is complete we can start on the fun stuff. Getting the right hotend and extruder for your printer can feel a bit abstract at first, what happens when you are designing your own printer and face this dilemma? Well not to worry because today we talk about all that and help you choose the kind you need.
    Next time we'll be putting everything together and talking about the electronics and firmware. Don't miss it!

    While not 100% required, if you add a little flux to your wire and your board before you solder, you'll have an easier time. Also, clean off that tip; it should be shiny (brass wire cleaners can make this pretty easy). For flux, you might find flux paste to be a little less messy than liquid, but either are fine. Soldering is one of those things that seems a LOT more difficult until you figure out some techniques and then you're like, whoa, this is way easier than I realized. I recommend RMA (rosin mildly activated) flux, but no-clean and rosin are okay too. RMA is sort of the middle-ground. Rosin flux can be a bit of a pain to clean off.

    I have a monoprice printer and they are gone. But i want to try one with Arduino mega by any chance have you tried that direction

      It has been a long long time since I did anything with an Arduino Mega, those boards are pretty old. It will work for sure, but you won't be able to get much performance out of it compared to current printers

      @@3DJake_Official what about enders main board is that a good direction, also have you done main board for kippler and I have a EBB42 main board, but I'm lost at what software it uses, and what attachment is added. I'm trying one from the dezeen open source for recycle PET bottle.

      @@calseynez Actually haven't tried the EBB42 board. Regarding the Ender board, if you're using something like the 4.2.2. board and with Marlin only then the processor can achieve something like 400mm/s speed at maximum, one of my printers runs an ender board with Marlin and I generally print at 300mm/s, it can go faster but the quality will suffer too much and at 400mm/s the motors will stutter and fail. Running it with a klipper enabled board will enable much faster printing but that totally depends on the motion system you're using and the extrusion system too.

      @3DJake_Official  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually can't remember where we got it, it has been in the workshop for a long time but I can see the same kind on Amazon, search "100 x 100 x 2 mm mini hot bed"

    Is this series discontinued? Would be a shame 😞

      Absolutely not, we just got a bit sidetracked. The next video (after the one that is being published in a few minutes) is the last in the series of the printer build and will be everything to do with firmware (marlin) and it is going to be very general so basically everything that is relevant in config.h and config_adv.h is going to be tackled. Following that we'll be doing periodic updates on the printers on how to improve them so really this series is just beginning 😀

      Sorry these are not available as kits, we will be releasing a detailed bill of materials once the project is complete but the kit would not be for sale from us.

      You can actually build your own printer from scratch which gives you options and specs suitable for your requirements. You can buy the parts China.

    • @andrewprint7523
      @andrewprint7523 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hendrikjbboss9973 if you live in europe , you avoid most of the time china shipping because extra cost shipping/taxes, if you buy in europe i will be more expensive but at least you can pay in 1 go not like today the parts and shipping and on arrival importtaxes. most of the european citizens avoid aliexpress/amazon/alibaba because of that.
