  • Friedkin's seminal horror classic is one of the heaviest hitters of The New Hollywood. Taking the horror film to its artistic apex Friedkin's film (based on the best selling novel by William Peter Blatty) is a truly uncompromising vision. It still induces deep terror in audiences while also telling a highly ambitious and spiritual story of good, evil, grief, regret, and faith.
Anchored by a quartet of amazing performances and Friedkin's mastery, THE EXORCIST remains THE horror film of its time.

He never talks about Kitty Winn. "SHARON! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN GOING OFF AND LEAVING REGAN BY HERSELF?"

He was right about the organ music score - it might have been a beautiful score, but it was wrong for that movie. Using a church organ for a religious/drama is basically typecasting for music. The best way to bore the audience is to give them what they expect.
