I've read a few books and stories about 3rd world prisons, and it seems the inmates are far more likely to help and respect their fellow inmates than the bullying 'every man for himself!' Attitude of western prison systems and its inmates.

Probably the most naive man I've ever seen going back after escaping, thinking he was going to get a fair trial and being shocked that he was convicted after all he had seen up to that point. Thank God he was set free and this has a happy ending. Many of these stories dont.

Honestly, the kindness and generosity of the other inmates really is touching. They have so little and they were willing to give even that for this man who looked like he wouldn't survive a moment. It's so difficult to be trusting - it's a sad state of affairs but it's truly better to keep your guard up at all times.

I've travelled around Africa and to be honest, for the most part the people seemed very warm, friendly and decent. Seeing videos like this (there are several of them) shows the scale of corruption in Africa. I mean, if we were talking a few individuals, we could compare it to any country but here the corruption is from the top to bottom, it's epidemic. I feel for Africa, it's one of the most beautiful places i've ever been to but i feel when watching these videos is that for many it's impossible to escape the cycle of poverty as a more powerful person is just waiting for you to succeed, just to take it all away from you. And there is nothing you can do about it.
