@@StyleDomination this video was very informative. love it. can I do braids also for a protective style? would that still count as a protective style??
I have been relaxed for as long as i can remember and over time i have grown my hair long and also had a lot of breakage because i never had a set routine. I just got lucky So i started watching relaxed TH-camrs like yourself and you have all really informed me on how to treat my hair!! So this Saturday i start my relaxed hair journey properly. I’m getting my new growth relaxed and cut into a styled chin-length bob for a fresh start!! Wish Me Luck!!! &Ty for your videos
MinaMagic I am wishing you luck and sending you great hair vibes! I know you and your hair are going to do great. Please keep In touch and give me updates on your progress! 🤗
Style Domination Thank You so much!! And of course I will :) I wish your channel (and your hair ) more and more success!! Lots of love from York ,Engand💜
Great tips! Thanks for the video! You've helped me set my hair goals for 2019. In another video you mentioned how your hair grew 6 inches in a year once you started deep conditioning. That's what I'm hoping for this year!! I didn't realize the importance of deep conditioning since I also use a leave in conditioner. I thought they did the same thing until one wash day this February, I didn't have time to detangle & rinse out the conditioner since a repairman was on the way. I ended up leaving the conditioner in for over an hour. What a difference!! I had 100% less breakage during the week! My hair has been stuck at collarbone length for 2 years. I think deep conditioning will help me finally retain length.
Max Germain It will definitely help!! And in some heat too when deep conditioning. Really makes hair soft. Also, add in moisturizing with a water-based leave-in conditioner and sealing with a good oil. Take care and Happy Hair! Lol 🤗
When I saw the title, I was smiling, because your tips are relevant to even Natural hair girls like me. Your tips on deep conditioning and babying my ends have helped IMMENSELY. My temple sections are the driest and grow the slowest
I love using water-based conditioners they are the best! and I am doing all of them, except the pillowcase I always wrap my hair before I go to bed lol 😊 your hair looks lovely, tfs God bless you 💓🙏
Yes thank you for this and for that moisturizing deep conditioner rec! I bought the Neutrogena triple moisture silk leave-in you recommended as well and oh my gosh...so soooo great for my hair! Thank you so much! I'll check out the coconut one when this one runs out since living in Canada, we have to import the Neutrogena one. Happy Monday!!
I cannot remember if you suggested a hair stylist. But I feel like you did, so I finally got one I’m going to start going to her consistently ♥️🌻 also girlfriend ! Joico is soooo good to me 😊
Hi Liam! Yes! I have this conditioner. I need to dig it out. I like it for straight after relaxers. When I have a lot of regrowth, it's not strong enough. LOL! #MonsterHair As always, thanks for watching!
LOL..i was moisturizing my hair the same way, not really paying attention to the nape and crown. I really need to take my time and separate into smaller pieces as you suggested. You look really pretty in this video.
My hair is short so I cannot put it in a bun and other hairstyles with my actual hair may not look good without heat since my hair is short and straight! What other styles do you suggest? Can you do a video on protective styles for all hair lengths? Also, is foam rollers bad for hair? Thank you!
Thank you so much. My hair is just a tad bit longer than yous and I relax every single month because my hair grows soooo fast I just don't retain length. I am also a hijabi so that might be one reason. Love your tips, and I will try to apply some of them. I just got Olaplex No. 2 which I use as a treatment and it helps alot with breakage.
Suzan Abdallah oh no do not relax your hair every month. You’ll never retain length because there’s not enough new growth to prevent processing hair that has already been relaxed. It will cause breakage. At least go 8 weeks if not more
Hi Suzan! Thanks for watching! I think you may be relaxing your hair too often. Sounds like your hair may be overprocessed and your ends are really suffering. You may need to get a good trim, start stretching your relaxers to two months, and really moisturize your hair properly. Personally, I think that hijabs are fantastic hair protectors! Once you get your hair into shape, you'll be golden!
If you had to choose between the Bamboo Smooth, Rene Furterer, Joico Balm treatment, and either of the Schwartzkopf deep conditioners, which one is the best?
Well, it depends. If you are looking for effective deep conditioners with protein, I'd go for the Schwarzkopf (they are mild protein conditioners - not heavy duty). If you are looking for a solid detangler, Joico. Rene Furterer is great all around, but you don't get much for the money you are spending (small little bottle), so great if you have short hair/fine hair. The Bamboo Smooth is excellent if you want a thick masque with no protein. The Schwarzopf Fibre Force Deep Conditioner (may be discontinued now) is a great monthly protein treatment, along with the Aphogee Two-Step Protein Treatment. Overall, these are my favourites and are all very good. Hope that helps!
Thanks for these tips. Is it okay to use cool blow dryer instead of hot air? My hair becomes tangled and looks dehydrated after washing and deep conditioning if I try air drying.
I have eczema and psoriasis an have found some products to bother my skin at times. Especially after relaxer and wash day when the chemicals & oils go on. Yet, I have to admit I haven't thought about trying different things, until I started watching plenty of these hair care videos. What are you thoughts on using an oil such as coconut oil as a conditioner and washing it out? Or how do I apply after the wash, do I apply to scalp to ends, any advice? Thanks!
Ms. Jaz Hi Ms Jaz! Every month actually, I deep condition my hair with a mixture of Haitian black castor oil, coconut oil and almond oil! I heat them up, add a few dollops of deep conditioner and apply from root to tip. I wrap my hair up in a plastic shower cap and add some heat. Leave on for an hour then wash out with shampoo and more deep conditioner. Boom. Amazingly soft, shiny hair.
Thank you so much. I have one last question. I'm actually trying to get a conditioner now lol, and wanted to know if the Creme of Nature spray on conditioner is good... Or The Cantu Leave in Conditioning repair cream?
Your Tips have really helped my hair, it has grown longer... My hair has always been thick from natural to relaxed super thick. Only problem is my hair gets dry. I'm definitely gonna pick up those tips to keep my hair hydrated. I just need help with my edges, due to braids the front of my hair has become thin. Is there anything you'd recommend.?
@@StyleDomination when I was natural I wore braids or crochet braids alot. Then I decided to relax since my hair was so hard to comb cause of the thickness. But the edges never grew back fully. But now I have relaxed my hair I don't wear braids... But I do wear high tight buns
Started my hair journey in December and still a bit clueless as to what works and what doesn't work for me. Aside from experiencing less breakage in the shower, I can't identify what other benefit i've seen. Despite the fact that I practice alot of what you mentioned. Not sure whether I'm being impatient. My question is how much breakage is too much? I know we have to experience shedding but is breakage expected daily but at a minimum? Or should we not experience it at all? I started off with a big chop and still experience breakage
@@StyleDomination Yes I do. I use the creme of nature buttermilk and seal with jojoba/avocado oil. I do so every other night. I have decreased the amount of heat I apply tremendously. I went from blowdrying and flat ironing every week to 1-2 times every 6-8 wks(about the time for my next relaxer). I can't stretch longer. I experience alot of breakage about the 6 wk mark. Last relaxer I tried stretching for 9 wks and there was alot of breakage.
Hi Dominic, thanks for all the tips. I have a question: in order to keep your hair straight, do you flat iron your hair often or you just need to do it once after your shampoo. I’m asking because I relax only my roots and after my shampoo & conditioner my hair looks like natural, I mean it’s curly like I never put relaxer in it. If I don’t flat iron I don’t get the straight look especially after my Zumba class, even thought I wear headbands and have my hair in a ponytail. Thanks in advance for your response.
Hmmm - I'm thinking that your hair shouldn't look natural unless you are texlaxing it. I used to flat iron my hair weekly, but it was causing too much heat damage. Now I let it air dry and then moisturize and seal. I will then wrap my hair at night which produces a straight look. It's not as straight as when I would flat iron it, but it's good enough for me.
@@StyleDomination thanks Dominic for the response. I might be texlaxing then. Not sure if I should put the relaxer on the entire length... I don't have a "Gloria" unfortunately 😩. Thanks again! Really appreciate your response and love your website 👍😊
You're welcome! Sigh - I have no idea. The ingredients do look top-notch. I think the branding also has something to do with it. As long as it works, and doesn't hurt my hair in the long run, I will pay the price (begrudgingly).
SWEET NOVEMBER04 Tbh OTC conditioners are weak formulas even if they have good ingredients for the hair. Dom how do you wrap your hair at night? I can’t get my wrap to stay and if I put pins I have marks in my hair and is I don’t I wake up with my hair like chubaka lolll
D Webster Chubaka!!! BAHAHAHA! Awwww! Ok - I take a comb and literally comb the hair around my head in a sort of beehive and then clip the hair using long silver alligator clips. I then take my big silk scarf and tie it around my head. I then slip the clips out and voilà. Hair wrapped. You can also take a skinny scarf and tie it around your edges to lay them down, then slip a loose satin bonnet around the rest of your hair. You can get these at Sally Beauty Supply. Good luck!

Hey...love your hair and skin... you're beautiful ☺️.....and love your videos...you're such a huge help... I'm 18 and live in Jamaica and have decided recently I want my hair to grow...I've been hearing that deep conditioning on a weekly basis is necessary for hair growth but when I mentioned it to my hairdresser she tells me that my hair will break of I deep condition so often...what should I do ....plz help 😥
daynah smith Hey, I’m from Jamaica too, I hear the same thing all the time but it’s not true. I do it every week (got lazy since recently) but it won’t break. I do pre-poo treatments every other week too. Those two things have helped a lot.

@@StyleDomination oh! I bought a lace front medium length bob wig for a protective style and omg I enjoyed doing that. Everyone thought I had a new haircut. Lol
This is just my opinion but wearing wigs? So in my mind that is not maintaining YOUR hair. That's putting your hair away. Maintaining to me is maintaining YOUR hair. My hair dresser does not wear any protective styles in 4 years I saw her in a pony tail once and she told me I won't see it like that again. There is another TH-cam Fay Douglas who has long relaxed hair and dies not protective style. Both wash DC and flat iron every 2 weeks religiously. Trim and moisturize when necessary and cover at night that's it. I have adopted this regimen and my hair is just about bra strap from a chin length bob in 2 years. Girls you don't need all this extra spending your rent money or your kids food and clothing money to buy hair. Wash it moisturize it tie it up at night and leave it alone. DONE! INCHES. Apologies for the sas that's just my personality I still watch all your videos.
Yes - I had it blow dried here and not flat ironed because I'm no longer using direct heat for the month, as mentioned in the video. Therefore, it won't be as shiny, but it will be healthy and I'm great with that.
When you’re not relax but you still want tips 👌🏾

Maikano Victoria Keletso Ramatswere Thank you, Luv! And it feels great again. Really happy!
Style Domination you are welcome my dear. Yeah indeed it is
Are you still using Joico shampoo?
keyring86 I do, but not as much lately after getting a few sulfate and silicone-free shampoos. I’ll be featuring the new shampoos in an upcoming video. 😉
@@loriclarke8897 thank you so much ☺️
Hi Daynah! Definitely go ahead and deep condition your hair weekly!! Find a good, thick deep conditioner WITHOUT protein and start deep conditioning! Thanks for watching!
@@StyleDomination Will do... thanks much
Nice dear....
Thanks, Cheryl! How are you, lady??
@@StyleDomination I was enjoying my lunch and decided to watch some videos and yours came up, perfect timing. I always enjoy watching those hair tips :-)
@@StyleDomination oh! I bought a lace front medium length bob wig for a protective style and omg I enjoyed doing that. Everyone thought I had a new haircut. Lol

You're pretty in red.
Tidy at night
Please don't tell me people actually use kitchen scissors to cut their hair???!!! Girl stop 😣😣
Charlotte Rawlins you’ll be surprised 😮 I’ve seen people cut with paper scissors and razors made for shaving legs/ underarms
i love your videos.. however, your hair looks dull in this video. Hope you can bring it back to its former glory. Still looks great.
Yes - I had it blow dried here and not flat ironed because I'm no longer using direct heat for the month, as mentioned in the video. Therefore, it won't be as shiny, but it will be healthy and I'm great with that.
