As a 16 year old travelling in from Bradford I used to go to all the home games. I was at this game, just above the Leeds crossbar in the cop end, we could have had ten that day. I was also at the Leeds 5 Man Utd 1 match too, we ran them ragged. What a team that was. MOT
You know you're getting beaten when your opponent's centre backs start playing up front for a laugh.
Talk about pressing and winning the ball back to play forward again...This was total football Dutch style if you look at Bremner sitting in at CH whilst Madeley made inroads.... Interchangeable players always.
Revie and the team- so much maligned- in some ways yes, but in others, what a set of players.
Nice to see that after scoring a goal it was followed by a brisk handshake, these days you get covered in love bites

That's OK we've since been beaten 9-0 twice in recent years. Gettin' used to it. Poor old Fry had a torrid game and paid the price - he never played for Saints again and was transferred. And Hassentaclue has still got his job.
Southampton might as well have stuck eleven cruise ship waiters on the pitch.
I was at this game. If I remember correctly, Leeds beat Southampton 7-0, Man Utd 5-1 and Notts Forest 6-1 in the same month, as a fan you just never expected they would lose.
There will never be a Leeds team close to them and had they had a fair crack of the wip with refs and the FA they would have won much more.
We naively thought only foreign refs were corrupt, but the Tinkler incident showed us otherwise.
Nothing changes we are still hated by bent refs.
Happy days! It has to be Leeds United's most memorable league game. Barry Davies commentary was superb. " Southampton just don't know what day it is, it's almost cruel!"
