Great to see that a copy was kept. Bobby Charlton was so quick and 2 footed...the stand out player. Very few passes for George to show his skills. Loads of long passes by both sides. The pitch was poor...a pity cause great players all over the park
I remember going to this match as a 14 year old with my friend John and his Dad. We were squashed between both sets of supporters. - it was frightening at times. The free kick 'goal 'that George Best chipped in should have stood -Norman Hunter admitted many years later that the ball had hit his shoulder on the way in. The pitch was a disgrace and not worthy of the talent on view. That said I fell privileged to have seen the likes of the greats especially Law, Charlton and Best. Think how they would be revered today displaying their skills on manicured pitches.
Pitch didn't help but the quality of this game was really poor. So many misplaced passes and mistakes. Interesting to see Elland Road before it was redeveloped.
Some views looked like it was in the dark satanic mills time. Good game considering the pitch & plenty of bruises on show. Didn't know that Barry Davies had started at ITV, after Brian Moore my second best commentator.
@@paulbarrett22 not sure what you mean mate. However, they should have won a whole lot more than they did. Great side though and packed full of the very best of British talent.
@@poundshopcicero3089 they were in almost every semi final ,final and chasing the title season after season so when it came to the final weeks they ran out of steam or were hit with suspensions or injuries the FA hated us so never gave us the choice of changing fixtures to help us out ,, it would never happen these days ..
@@poundshopcicero3089 I'm Leeds and I agree. Had bundles of quality but didn't win nowhere near what we should have. League titles fa Cups.... We did win the European Cup though unofficially. Cheated out at the very highest level.
Winsfordtown,
Thanks for this action from Elland Road between these two great rivals!

Crazy decision to chalk the free kick goal off - had to be direct.
Thanks Jeff

Either there was trench warfare down the sidelines or its hay to keep the pitch from freezing up into Yorkshire tundra permafrost!

Barry Davies for Granada I’d guess on commentary
It states that in the closing credits..
Danny Blanchflower commentated on the match for Yorkshire Television
what was best rolling around at pppppft lol
In English please!
They were classic runners up or bottle merchants, take your pick. Robbed in 75 though against Bayern.
not bottlers victims of their own success

What was that song again?....it went something like ...🎶..we all jolly well hate Leeds..🎶....something like that...
Everton finished champions in the 69/70 season with a record 66 points....
this was the season before though
Leeds totalled 67 points in 68/69 a record under 2 points for win until Liverpool totalled 68 points in 78/79.
This game was in January, so part of the 68/69 season.
Good ol' Neverton!
