Thonock Lane Farm parkrun. Running on a Working Farm with Gorgeous Animals & Passionate parkrunners!

- The plan was to head west and run at a parkrun around Manchester but due to the freezing weather then the majority of the parkruns in and around Manchester were cancelled. We were intending on saving this parkrun for the spring or summer and for a day when Poppy was parkrunning due to the animals and the flat course on grass. We had little choice but to bring our visit forward due to all of the cancellations!
Don't let the course map, or description, put you off visiting this parkrun. On paper it is a two lapper, around three farmers fields, but in reality it is so much more than that. There are so many reasons to visit, whether it is the gorgeous animals, the fantastic community, the unbelievable homemade cakes from Williamsons Farm Shop, or what will be a very fast course when dry in the summer! Thonock Lane Farm parkrun is worth a visit for sure.

Pretty cool run Nicola. Always nice to see the animals and pay them a visit. We have a farm run that is in the spring and fall. It is an apple orchard and is run on Jeep track and gravel road. Beautiful run during the harvest season and the blossom season. Aside from the trees there are some beautiful views of the desert out in the distance. Unfortunately, no animals at the race, but they do have a barn where you can purchase their harvest or other farm goods. As always, love your ParkRun adventures!

It's lovely how each parkrun has its own special features. I really liked this one (animals!) but it looked so cold I wanted hot chocolate just from watching it. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Thank you 🤗 Oh my goodness it was FREEZING! 🥶🥶🥶 But you soon warm up running, plus it makes the hot chocolate taste even better 😋
With some imagination that Run Director's platform could be a medieval royal box. Picture the scene, Princess Nicola enjoying a goblet of wine whilst a jousting competition plays out in front of her 😄

Ooo it looks cold oop north from balmy Dorset x I have gone over to the dark side and joined the rambling association, after years of running I have lost some mojo BUT am finding massive delight in long distance walking.. Spent a beautiful 4 hours yesterday wandering without intent just feeling joyous.. All of this means I NEED your videos so that I can run vicariously through you (that sounds odd but you know what I mean 😂) I am interested to find out how big walking pans out and excited for a new venture ❤

Great video, you are much better at talking to yourself than I am . I still find it difficult and can't do it with other people around. I did Thonock lane on its second event. I am guessing it can be a mud fest in winter when it's above freezing.
Thanks, yeah it takes a bit of getting used to doesn't it 🙃 I definitely think this is a course that will change a lot with the seasons/weather! Super fast in the summer and slippy and muddy in the winter 🌧️

Thanks, the animals were amazing! Favourite cake depends on mood but this carrot cake was delicious! 😋 I definitely much prefer smaller events. There's more time to chat and you get a much better feel for the community 😃
Thanks for showing us this parkrun - looks quite a remote spot. What's the furthest you would drive on a Saturday morning Nicola? I kind of limit myself to 60mins drive...
Yeah that used to be my rule... I feel like I might have extended out to less than an hour and a half 🤔 ideally we'd go the night before and stay in the van though 🙃😃
Very good run , i like the black top , suits you , id be wary of llamas and alpacas , arnt they a bit like spit the dog lol ? Never forget you are amazing ( and hilarious obviously ) 😉
