It's very annoying when you encounter someone being inconsiderate. I find it raises my 'fight' response that pops up when we get scared or worried. And then it takes an hour or two to go away and generally puts a downer on your run. Best of luck and stay strong. Thank you for the video.
Nicola you are amazing - a marathon back-to-back with a 20mi, wow! So sorry about that weirdo on the canal towpath though, you were quite right to report it. Good luck with the rest of the training.
Only just caught up with this. Sorry to hear about the weirdo body check. The vast majority of people are supportive of runners and normally have such positive interactions, but over the years I've had a few unpleasant encounters while running. It can be so intimidating and I end up question myself whether I did anything 'wrong' to cause it. Well done for not letting it spoil your day. A parkrun to go always mentally helps me through the last part of a marathon. And to answer your question a 69 joke is always acceptable to me.
Some people have a problem with runners so maybe your weird guy was one of those, most people are so supportive so 8ts always a massive shock when one meets a 'hater' conversely yesterday I did a 10k Weymouth bay run and this gorgeous elderly lady was clapping and smiling and saying well done on the way back... She made my day xx
Well done 😃 Yeah five rise locks always makes it tough but also I do really struggle with there not being anything to distract my brain navigation wise. I think it's good mental training to have to run a long way in a straight line! 🏃♀️
Great video Nicola, been waiting for this one 😀 and I briefly made the final edit into the video at 27.17 in when you passed that wonderful woman who I now know is called Hilary 😀 didn’t realize it was a full marathon you were all running. I do know there was a poor chap, last man still going at 4.30 as I saw him when I took the dog out again towards Bingley. Poor fella looked in a world of hurt, but there was a marshal waiting for him.
Thanks 🤗 Oh my goodness! I wonder who that was 🤔 yeah some days out are easier than others. Sounds like he wasn't having the easiest day out there! I'm pleased you spotted yourself! Isn't Hilary just unbelievable?! 💪💪💪
You'll smash the five in five Nicola! 💪 My first trail marathon is going to be a Grim event at Temple Newsam in May, really looking forward to it, hopefully there will be plenty of bluebells to enjoy.
Thanks Nicola. Loved this video so much. What a fantastic 2 days of running. Very, very impressive and all done with your customary smile. 🙂 Had to laugh. You're running a marathon and there are so many distractions. It's very difficult not to stop when you see lambs & herons. They're such beautiful animals. 😆 Sorry about the incident with guy. Problem with races on public paths. Most people are absolutely fine. It's very rare but you can encounter the odd idiot. Thanks again and best of luck with the 5 in 5. I will be there for 1 or 2 of those. Ps. The smiling runner with the pack was doing Ultra. Scott is a brilliant runner and a good guy.
Yeah it's hard not to get distracted isn't it?! 🐑🐑🐑 They were so cute! It was great to see you out there smashing it 💪 Oh my goodness I thought Scott was unbelievable! And he looked so happy! His blue number confused me at first but when I saw him running out AGAIN then I realised he was doing the ultra 🤣 I look forward to seeing you in a few weeks. I'm assuming you're definitely doing Friday's marathon for Hilary's celebration? Xx
Super stuff Nicola. Custard doughnut > hot cross bun - good choice. Well done for standing your ground and reporting the weirdo - you really have to wonder what goes through some people's heads (if anything). Regarding your behaviour - all good. Anyone in possession of the number 69 must surely have a giggle to themselves - anything else is just odd. In fact, I bet Goggins wouldn't find it funny
🤣🤣🤣 I love your reply 🤣🤣🤣 I'm not a big custard doughnut fan but I never know what I'll fancy when distance running! Lol I'm pleased you agree about 69 😂 I laughed and then thought OH NO... WAS THAT AN OKAY JOKE?! 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣🤣
Well done Nicola , looking very strong , shame about the weirdo , elbow in the nose would cure him but you did well leaning into him , im glad you didnt let him spoil your day , super proud of you , have a lovely week 😉🏃♀
going to do Bingley in Febuaray but good news is i am doing the Bridlington Bonzana half marathon on 29th December Grim Up North event that one so can not wait
The races you do always look so idyllic, Nicola. Makes me want to get out of the city and into the countryside! Sorry you got bodychecked by a random weird man though. I know the feeling of trying to shake off the terrible ick of a weird man being weird while out on a run by myself. Bleurgh! In better news, definitely going to get some of those sweeties to "practise fueling"!
My favourite races are definitely the ones up in the hills where it feels like a real adventure 😃 Life would definitely be better without weird men being weird to us... My adrenaline running back past where he'd been was crazy! I found the sweets yesterday!!! 🎉 I passed the Haribo shop and ran in to grab some. I'm very excited! 😋
Well done! You’re so lucky to have GUN near you. I drove down from Scotland last year for an event and it was so friendly and fun. Having multiple distances at one event is so cool. Also they are mega cheap and have loads of events. There’s no equivalent up here 😢 PFW running is similar. Do you know them? Well done again. Will definitely get to another GUN event in future.
Oh no! That's a shame you don't have similar closer to you 😔 but I don't feel too sorry for you because there's such epic trails and mountains in Scotland so I think it'd be pretty cool to live there 😍😍😍 I'll check out PFW, I've not heard of them. Maybe see you at a IGUN event in the future 😃
Another really cool video. Thanks for taking me along. Was that locks system the same one you did a few months ago? There was a famous one you were running by that looked a lot like it. Did that guy apologize at all for almost knocking you into the canal? Some people are just so inconsiderate... It would definitely rattle me too. Also interesting how your races serve Coke and let you know what is vegan / vegetarian. Maybe the ultras have Coke but mostly road races here in the US have sports drink only. I love how you always find something to smile about even when things are difficult. When my races get challenging I try to imagine how you would approach it and it seems to change my mindset. Love your channel and what you bring to the running community. Can't wait to see what is next
Thank so much Eddie 🤗 That's so lovely of you to say about mindset and choosing to be positive and smile. I really do think it makes things so much better ❤️ The difference here regarding drinks would be road races and trail races. Road races serve water and sports drinks, trail races with longer distances serve water, squash, coke etc 🙃
will have to try this one sometime hopefully one at Slathwaite next month i might do o and Liversedge half today managed it non stop in 1h57 206th place out of 382 runners was going strong till the steep hill out of Brighouse that killed my legs
@@NicolaRuns had a nice steady park run at Glossop today came 35th out of 133 one runner was been given 1st Aid on that wooded downhill bit just before the little pond must have taken a right tumble

My adrenaline on the way back out past where it had happened was unbelievable! My heart was racing! Luckily he was nowhere to be seen 😅

Thank you so much Geoff 🤗 What a lovely comment 🏃♀️
What a lovely clear race brief, love the flexible starts.. Perfect x
It's so good when races are as accommodating as possible. Obviously not all races can do this but it's definitely a bonus here 😃

Oh good, I felt silly afterwards in case it had offended the runner but I found it really funny 🤣
'just a parkrun to go!' glad its not just me then, I usually shout it out loud too.
Yay same! I do this too! 😃🤣

Oh my goodness my heart could burst! I absolutely love people like that who put positivity out into the world ❤️❤️❤️
What a fab place to run😊
It was a lovely route 😍
Wow fantastic. Loved some of the views but a bit narrow at times and that arse... Great running, thanks for ssharing.
The lambs were my favourite bit 😍😍😍 but the views were great too 😃
That was lovely to

My first thought after your comment at the 1st check point was 'It's NEVER too early for cake and biscuits!' 😀
🤣 I'd usually agree but I just didn't fancy them 🤷🏻♀️🤔 maybe I wasn't feeling well 🤣

Did you get that reported nicola. Well done on the training and all the distance. I couldn't run full marathon
Thanks, yes I reported it... What a weird experience that was! 🤦🏻♀️
Go girl, next time you can borrow my knobkerrie zulu club, will sort anyone!!!😁😁😁😁
I've literally no idea what that is but it sounds a bit heavy to run a marathon with 😜🤣
