in case anyone was wondering you can totally remove your cluster without taking the steering wheel off. its a little bit finicky but still much faster and easier than removing your wheel.
@CombinationGamerFireskull That is why. The M3 steering wheels are 10mm smaller in diameter and block the cluster. Glad to hear it works on the non M cars though!
just yesterday i bought an e36 1600 and i want to change some bulbs which are burnt out. of the temperature it doesn't come on at all and the fuel reserve also works normally. do we know what type of bulb is for the dial??
The illumination in the dial is not a bulb I don't think. If it's not lighting up I am pretty sure it's an issue with the solder joints on the cluster. What I can say is if it's not any of the bulbs shown in the video it's going to require the cluster to come apart.
@M-t3ch my speed o metre lights up and my rev counter starts to fade . Heat guage is total dark . My km reading and milage reading went dark . Today it just came back on brighter ✨️. Strange
@stanramiah9069 If by darker you mean it fades black, then it's the bulbs. Sometimes, when they are making a poor connection, they can stop working too. The faces can also get dark spots, which are caused via the backing delaminating and are an entirely different issue. I would guess yours is the bulb on the tach side of the gauge cluster 🙂

With an M steering wheel? The non M wheels are a little larger in diameter.
@@M-t3ch I have a 1995, 325 I and it was fairly easy to remove

HI! Did you publish anywhere how you replaced the SMG Screen on your dash? I see you have the MPG gauge instead.
All North American spec cars came with mpg installed from the factory 🙂
Ah OK Thanks!

Do you know if the bulb itself is red or is there a film behind the dash that gives it the red look when its installed?
It is in the cluster itself, there is a red lining. If you go LEDs sometimes they are red but that is aftermarket. OEM has clear bulbs.
My speedometer and heat gauge doesn't light up .. am pretty sure its the bulb
Does it look like it isn't even on, or are there dark spots?
