Something went wrong during the processing, I did have footage of me doing the dry time test and not just a still. Sorry about that, and if I do more of those in the future I'll make sure it's right.
I, too, am surprised that they discontinued the Tsukushi but kept the Yama-guri as their only brown ink. Especially when they have SO MANY blues in their lineup.
Yes! I would love to know the reasons for why each of these were chosen. Maybe they just cut the 3 least popular inks at the time, maybe there was more to it.
Thank you for doing the video. I appreciate the time that you have taken. Tsuyu-kusa is to me what Waterman Serenity Blue is to many people - it is my reliable, stand-by blue ink. It is a pleasing blue color with great shading (at least on the papers that I use). Love it! And when I heard the it would be discontinued over a year ago, I bought several additional bottles.
Good catch! I have been watching too many videos on those haha. Should have looked at the kanji, I still find reading/understanding just romaji difficult.
Thank you so much I never thought to check Ali express for Ina Ho!!! I hadn’t been following the fountain pen community too much a while back and had missed that it had been discontinued! Then I saw it on someone’s video and I really loved it and went looking for it and realized I was too late! But I just ordered from AE and I hope it actually arrives!! Thanks again! ❤
I must get Chiku Rin.. Tsuyukushi looks similar to Namiki Blue. Iroshizuku inks are so great. I wish they’d bring back JuroJin.. I recently got Aji Sai, and I LOVE it..
I have a Sailor ink similar to Ina-Ho. It came with the Minori 5th Anniversary Grain of Rice fountain pen. I like Iroshizuku inks. They come in sets of three, I think. Nice show. Thanks.
That pen is gorgeous! I do wish the ink had been available seperately, it really intrigued me. And yes, they do come in sets of 3 15ml bottles! Thanks for watching!
For a nice warm medium brown try the Dominant Industries Lungo and their Winter Wood is a much darker brown (looks almost black when using a Sailor fine nib under a lot of artificial light)
@@theinkarchivist I love their Downpour ink, but it doesn't really suit my preferred pens, but with a wetter pen (Noodler's Dixie that I got this morning) it's puts down a great colour, their maple also needs a higher flow otherwise it comes out a pinky orange (almost salmon like) but swatches have a great deep red in the heavier spots. Both of those browns are great in anything and Forest is a nice green (maybe approaching Diamine Teal) Another reddish brown worth looking at is Diamine Ancient Copper. I keep on buying brownish inks as i want to create a Tolkienesque map for my wife, but anything called sepia actually looks like real sepia inks (never mind the aging)
This is a humble suggestion. It would help for those of us who use a Medium and Broad nibbed fountain pen if you had one to show how a M and B nob writes with each swatched ink. As you know each nib size changes how the ink colour looks on paper.
Definitely true. Unfortunately, the hocoro only comes with a fine nib or stub/fude grinds. I'll have to find another dip pen that replicates that size, thanks for the suggestion!
Thought about getting Tsukushi a few months ago, but then I recently bought for the first time a brown bottle (Waterman). That bottle will last a long time, I never stick to brown for long.
Haven't played a lot with it, but it seems to have a lower flow than other Waterman inks, and most others I have (heard it's common with browns). I tend to use F nib (western F), and it seemed to be better with M, giving a rather medium-fine result, and a richer color. Tried only in two pens, I have yet to see how it behaves in a Pilot or Platinum.
@@philippebarillecavalier9275 Thank you so much for letting me know! That's very interesting, I hadn't heard that about browns so that is good to know.
Hello! I'm just getting back into my pens and ink! May I ask what pen and nib sizes are you using? Thanks! I bought Ina Ho about 3 years ago & have always loved it. Have a great day!
That's wonderful! I was using a Sailor Hocoro dip pen in this video with either a 2.0 or fine nib. Thank you for the kind words! You have a good one as well!
any info on wetness is always welcome. I think unless you need a dry ink for a certain use case, I think wet inks and wet nibs are always going to give you more of the extra qualities that are added to ink like sheen, shimmer and shading so to me there's nothing more useless than a dry ink/nib.
Sometimes, i feel pilot discontinues inks publicly so that people flock to the stores and stock up bottles which would otherwise won't see light of day

I was able to get a bottle of Tsukushi from Jet Pens. Thanks for highlighting these inks before it was too late.

I'm so happy to hear from someone that loves Tsuyu-Kusa! I definitely think it was underrated and I'm glad to own a bottle.
Minor detail but @1:05 you have that mixed up with Sailor's Shikiori (四季織) Inks. Iroshizuku (色滴) is "Color Drops". Thank you for the information!
Good catch! I have been watching too many videos on those haha. Should have looked at the kanji, I still find reading/understanding just romaji difficult.
*the bottles alone are glorious*
Glass-bottomed bottles you make the writing world go round. 🎵
Get on your pens and write!!

I'm so glad this helped!! I really hope you do get that bottle of Ina-ho, it's a fantastic ink.
*might check with Goulet Pens since they carry around 800 inks at any given time and also sell samples of the inks as well*

Thank you for this video. I just ordered 3 more inks from Amazon.

Hello
I would like to ask what kind of notebook it is in 5:06?
For a nice warm medium brown try the Dominant Industries Lungo and their Winter Wood is a much darker brown (looks almost black when using a Sailor fine nib under a lot of artificial light)
Thank you for the suggestion! I haven't tried a lot of Dominant Industries so that will give me some direction.

Happy to do so! Thanks for the kind comment! It definitely has a sheen to it, I thought it was more golden but I'd have to double check.

Dry inks can be necessary for certain nibs that are too wet. Slow the flow down. It all depends on the pen and the user.
Shading is more prominent with dry inks actually.
I was looking through my collection and saw that i still have a half of bottle of Tsuyu-kusa. Oh well
Wait a minute, Tsukushi is being discontinued?! 🤯
If you ever consider selling a sample of Ina-ho, please keep me in mind. 🙈
are they actually discontinued? I just purchased a bottle of tsukushi
Where at?
Tsukushi was my favorite brown ink. Such a shame.
Ina-ho should be brought back. There are already too many blues and they're adding yet another one.
Sometimes, i feel pilot discontinues inks publicly so that people flock to the stores and stock up bottles which would otherwise won't see light of day
why do they do this to us *sob*
Honestly haha
