I’m so happy to have found your channel. I love the way you do ink swatches. I must add these new pilot inks to my collection. That to-ro is pure sunshine. 😊
Oh thank you!! It’s been trying to figure out what works for me with swatching. I have to do what works for me. And yes, To-ro shocked me! I got my son a Pelikan twist a few months back and he was flipping through my swatches and stopped on that page. Immediately he said, “mom! I need that Charmander Orange in my pen now!” So it’s Charmander Orange now. 🤣
Yay! Left-handedness can be tough, but figuring out how to transfer right handed things to left has been a thing I trained myself to do. I actually hate most left-handed designs. 🤣
I’m definitely going to get To- Ro. If nothing else, as a “Yellow” to mix my other Iroshizuku inks with. I only have Syo- Ro, Tsuki Yo, Kosumosu and Yama Budo. But with To-Ro added to those, I can make oranges, greens, olives, browns, muted purples, and grays.
Your doodle characters are great! Rikka looks amazing. I also love Tsuki yo and asa gao.. kon peki is groovy.. I do love blues. I will buy the burgundy too. Love.
So happy to have found your channel! Love the swatching. With you on Kon-Peki, Tsuki-Yo was my first Iroshizuku back in the day. Have gotten a small Kon-Peki since - I love blue inks 😄 - but it's always: meh. It's okay in really whopping gushers, but there are definitely more interesting blues. Fude is my go-to for writing; my hands are not the steadiest and a fude is my writing Zimmer frame 😅
Loved the video! I bought a bottle of Syun-gyo as well, and samples of the other two inks. I may consider purchasing a full bottle of Rikka, just because, in person, that blue hit me differently than any of the other Iroshizuku blue inks. I really appreciate hearing your perspective on chromatography of the Iro inks; I’ll need to keep that in mind when I finally start mixing inks for custom colors. ❄️
Just took delivery of 2 out of 3 (didn’t buy the blue) new offerings. Thanks for your swatching and insight, I’m anxious to swatch and use them myself.
oh my gosh..I tried the Sailor Hocoro dip pen and it didn't have the feed unit either and I didn't like them at alllll 😫 I just bit the bullet and ordered a Kakimori brass dip pen & holder but now I'm wishing I thought about adding a feed to it myself..thats so smart! The Pilot Kakuno line just came out with 5 (or 6? now I can't remember lol) new colors...they're milky colors 😍 looove the Kakunos, too haha These swatches were so good! Thanks for sharing 🤗
Took me forever to finish this video because I kept jumping up and looking at my things when something was sparked. 😅 Got on a tangent trying to find my inks that might be like Blue Eyed Mary. Diamine Eau de Nil is more teal & too light. Diamine Aurora Borealis darker, more Emerald and has plum shading. BUT I have a sample of sailor ink studio #941 that looks so close with navy plum/sheen. I'm trying to compare the lines on the writing sample like an ink detective comparing it to what I have in person. It looks really close. You may need to get a sample one day.
Ruby is one I should definitely add to my next sample list! Sapphire is beautiful, but I don’t know that I would use it. I find myself rarely reaching for blue ink.
You can buy the feed for those Hocoro pens & snap them in. Seems like I paid $4 for one. Like you, it was inconvenient bc I didn't realise it didn't have it when I ordered it, but I knew about it because I'd seen it on Yoseka's video.
I’m with you on KonPeki.. I never use mine and I love my blue inks. I don’t know what it is about that ink. I simply don’t like it I love your swatches and especially your doodles. I would love to try these inks in my prefered papers as well. Sometimes they become vastly different depending on the properties of the paper as well. I was on the fence on getting these bottles but your review convinced me that they are different enough from the rest of the İroshizuku line 😊
They are definitely different. I just don’t know what it is about Kon-Peki. I want to love it. I really do. But holy smokes, Rikka. I already have it in two pens and have been using it nonstop the last couple of days. 🫣
Here have a snowflake emoji! ❄️ Enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing! Liked the comparison to watercolour colours too. Do you use fountain pen inks in illustrations? I am wondering how to go about that since so many are not waterfast. I bought some waterproof octopus Write and Draw inks recently for drawing but not done much with them yet!
I do, actually! Yes. A lot in my sketchbook. I haven’t used them in a final piece often. Except for maybe DeAtramentis. I have a couple videos on my channel where I’ve used them. My Archer & Olive Sketchbook tour shows the inks in action. I’ll be doing another tour here soon as I’m almost done with a sketchbook and it has a lot of ink work. I painted with Diamine Earl Grey and that was a lot of fun!
Fuyu-syogun is pronounced "Fuyu-shogun" (shogun like the military ruler). Pilot uses a version of romanization for their ink names that's a bit confusing for people outside of Japan ... "syo" is "sho" and "syu" (like in Syun-gyo) is "shu" (but not like in the English word "shun" - instead it's close to the sound in "shoe"). As for JoWo, J in German is pronounced like Y in English, so it's like "YOLO" but with a W instead of an L
Love your explanations for those pretty but unpronounceable ink names. But you got Jowo a bit wrong. It is actually pronounced as though it were spelled JoVo. In German all “W”s are pronounced as though they were “V”s.
I am going to try my best to pronounce these. My poor brain can only remember so much. I do manage to get my student’s names after a few weeks, but it’s daily getting them to remind me because names are important!
I found that Making M800 on Aliexpress at 365Days Stationery Store, but for $25. I hated the fine nib bc of it's scratchy corners & put a Jinhao nib instead. There is a beatiful pen that color, but with thin ribbons of black going thru it, that has a dreamy nib - it's an Admock M800. I had to search for a shop that actually had it & it's closer to $40, but I love that one. I do like both pen bodies, it was just that one fine nib.... Maybe avoid fine.
@ yeah, I am loving the body of this but I am HATING the nib. I don’t really like the Admok pens. I tried one and have only had issues. I’m switching out this particular Majohn M800 with a Jowo nib.
Can you spell the name of the nib in the white dip pen? I scanned the Amazon inventory of those Sailor dip pens and I couldn’t find a nib that sounded like yours with the tip bent a tiny bit.
I just found you and I am in love with the adorable doodles! Love how you swatch ink, can't wait to explore your content some more. 💓

Love the doodles💛!! I use fountain pens to sketch so I appreciate your swatches so much! I even took screenshots to take notes of some colors 💚
I hit the jackpot that I found your channel! I’m left handed too!! Nice to see someone write like me ❤❤
Yay! Left-handedness can be tough, but figuring out how to transfer right handed things to left has been a thing I trained myself to do. I actually hate most left-handed designs. 🤣

I don’t know why I’m not the biggest blue fan. There are days for sure, but give me a good pink or purple and I’m there.
I just purchased Pilot Syun-gyo and chiku-rin. I love them both.

I ordered all 3 of these last week and waiting for their arrival. I love the colors!

Nice! 100% on Asa GAO! My fav!😊

Omg blue eyed mary. Isn't it SO RAD??? it's on my list of top inks for 2024!
This is so gorgeous, what stunning inks ☺
Thanks, Chantelle! The whole Pilot Iroshizuku line is just beautiful. It’s a joy to work with.
I like To-Ro best.❄️
oh wowwww I love them all, but To-Ro had me captivated from the first time I saw it when released.
It didn’t excite me until I got it. It definitely hopped its way into a pen.
Took me forever to finish this video because I kept jumping up and looking at my things when something was sparked. 😅

Ooooh I’ve had my eye on these - thank you for swatching!
You are so welcome! I literally stalked all of the pen companies on the internet daily the moment they were announced.
Take a look at Monteverde Sapphire as well as Ruby. Not fancy, but very pure, clean, saturated color.
Ruby is one I should definitely add to my next sample list! Sapphire is beautiful, but I don’t know that I would use it. I find myself rarely reaching for blue ink.

Yes! I did know that. I just have the opinion that they should be included with ALL nib sizes.
I hope you do an overall ink review soon, love your collection. 🎉❤
i want these!!
I think you need them!
I’m with you on KonPeki.. I never use mine and I love my blue inks. I don’t know what it is about that ink. I simply don’t like it

I’ve always heard Jowo pronounced as Yoe-voe
Where did you get that book clip with cat on it?
the word is pronounced Yo vo (jowo) :) Merry Christmas
RIP Tsukushi
❄️
I tried several times and never liked Kon-Peki either.
I think it must be a love or don’t love type of on.
Can you share the store name to get your Mahjohn M800 with the Bock nib?
Yes! I found it on AliExpress!

sailor hocoro dip pen fude - it’s the yellow one. Luckily, they are all color coded!
I also don’t like Konpeki 😂
I am seeing a club that I have been missing out on! 🤣
