You find gold and diamonds in virtually every marketplace in every place you could hope to go. Still feels weird doesn't it?
It’s actually quite normal to have stamped designs on gold bars and coins. In the Middle East this has been used for centuries, usually with the face of a leader printed on it as a design
Ok Im glad to see Im not the only one that was bothered by that quote. Surely he couldnt believe that this company made the first stamped gold bars right?😂 I thought maybe he meant that Ancient Romans or Greeks used to stamp this lady on their gold bars, and those might be the oldest stamped bars found to date.
My Dad gave me a 24 karat gold chain back in 7th grade (2017ish). My friend and I curiously weighed it in our science class as the classroom had like a small lab in the back with weighers and other things. It weighed 16.8 grams, and after converting to USD (it’s Thai gold so I had to convert Thai Baht to USD) it was worth $684. Last time I checked, maybe 3-6 months ago it was worth I believe a little over $1,100 (2024).
don't be a dope - where exactly to you think you can go and find someone who will give you $1,100 for that chain?? it's called liquidity, son. Gold chains are not liquid. There is no market for them. Just because you see a per oz. price for gold in the paper doesn't mean that you can get that price for your junk. Your gold chain is probably worth about $25 coz that's what the guy on the corner will pay for it, if he's feeling extra generous. By the way, do you know how pure it is? jewelry is almost never 24k gold because that is too soft for jewelry purposes. The prices in the paper are for 24k, most gold chains are 14k or 18k, Thai gold is often higher - but how do you know without paying someone to test it?
You probably mean 16.8 grams and gold chains are usually 14k. If that is correct, your chain is a little less than 1/3 of a troy ounce (gold is measuring in troy), which is worth about $860 (melt) today. Good luck!
@@richard1113 Haha yeah I meant grams! I’d never melt it though, my Dad gave it to me over 7 years ago, it’s Thai Gold so we know and it’s been verified being 24 karat. But yeah I’ve been showering, playing sports, working out, etc, with this chain on for 7 years straight now. A lot of my friends thought it was fake (Thai gold is VERY YELLOW) but I doubt a “fake” chain would survive years of being in showers and sports without turning my neck green or the gold plate chipping off 😂
@@alex1311t Ah! Thai gold must be like "India gold". I know many people from that region and they always talk about pure gold.
