Yupp it's woohoo time here in Trollhättan! Heard March in Germany... Have You got any date yet? Saw on Advrider that there have shown up bikes in US but without windshields and skidplates, at least on the "S" version. Thats true! i see it in the TFT as well but since i don't have the heated Ergo Seat it's not activated. The HCU unit that comes with the heated grips is the same as the seats connect to.
@@Braapncamp the dealership is saying february 5 bikes but I’m not holding my breath. I’ve always set my expectations to mar or April so prepare the worst but hope for a phone call tomorrow😀
Great video! Nice to see all the detail I wanted to see - thumb up ! Could you consider review the follow as I am keen to know as a 890 R owner: 1.New TFT dash condensation - have they now completely fixed it 2.New TFT dash, glare under direct sunlight. How easy information can be read? 3.Headlight support, the entire headlight assembly still connects to the little round tube under the yoke while other connections to side fairings have been enhanced. 4.Crash protection on the new upper fairing - how likely they get damaged when felt flat on ground 5.New GPS mount braket, its angle/position how GPS(yours is zumo XT right?) easy to be read comeparing to the previous one if it block part of the dash etc. Thanks in advance!
-No Condensation so far on the TFT -Easy to read all the time -Was on a winter event with the bike this weekend, very sliperi in the snow and the bike took a nap in the ditch... No damages and the new front and fairings sis not seem to be close to be damaged to tip to ground. crashes are npt good for any bike. -You can adjust the angle no interference or in the way for the TFT. I've been looking forward to your first video on the 890R after delivery. Totally impressive ADV Machine! The new TFT display is a really good update along with the other updates. Also, the bike is more robust, always a good thing with a motorcycle ridden off the road. I look forward to more videos with the Mighty 890! hey, that kinda rhymes. lol

Nothing like a new KTM. You made the right choice. One thing I really liked with the display was the very clear Sidestand warning. I took my 690 out for its first dirt ride and for the first time in decades took off with the sidestand down. It is a bit tricky to get up and nothing bad happened. But I let my friend ride it and he did the same thing and we have a combined 100 years of riding experience. Having that display is a great idea. One thing you will change is that front tyre. In my opinion you need to run an aggressive street legal knobby. Looking forward to the first ride report.
Tricky stand there, for sure I have forgot the kickstand as well, but I have never bypassed the switch, but it is good to have a kit to be able to do that mod on the road side. This bike really grows on me. I wasn't sure about the look when I first saw the commercials. Yupp, those E07's might go pretty soon. I will give them a try and review first. Can imagine that these are better than the Karoo 3s., though 👀😁.

Im planing to get to AXP skid plate if they update it , the 2023 frame is not exactly the same as the 2022 ….. also get the vanasche rear brake guard , vanasche front sprocket protector, ktm heated grip / heated seats , ktm heavy duty hand guard / ktm brake levers , ktm rally foot pegs ! Rottweiler airbox , power commander whit a Rottweiler tune , wings slip-on , arrow decat ! 🙏🙏🙏
Thats a lot of cool goodies Reynaldo, i actually think that the 2022 skid plate fits, but let's see when someone confirms or deny it. The Power Part skid plate fits both 2022 and 2023 at lest. There have been reported that the 890 Adv "S" that have arrived to US this week sits at the dealers waiting for windscreens and skid plates. Best to follow the 2023 890 thread at advrider.com to see whats happening.

Thanks for bringing out this video so quickly and being the first to give us a proper closer look at the new 890 AR. I have one on order but it will be a month or 2 before we see them in Australia and particularly all the way over in Perth if we even get enough for the pre orders. Thankfully we can ride all year round so we can hit the trails right away.

Hi Mattias congratulatiin to your new Adventure R. Have you had also problems with the cam shaft on the 790 Adventure? I am riding at the moment a 790 Adventure R and the inlet cam shaft is making a problem. Thinking to change to the 890 Adventure R also. The Adventure R is the ultimate travelling bike, if you cant reach the end of a road its not the bikes fault...😂😂😂
I actually don't know if I had the camshaft problem on my 790R. I traded it before the valve check service. I never felt or heard any thing bad in the engine, but who knows, I probably had the problem as well. I do not like to see mechanical engineering faults like this on new bikes and hope that the new 890R holds up better than what we see reports on the Internet. It's a wonderful and awesome bike to ride, so I really want it to be great mechanically as well.
I'd check that your temp gauge is correct... You mentioned -8, display is 0... Maybe that's a Swedish thing... Us Finns think it's summer in 0 degrees.

They are ready to ride as much as I have experienced with my BMW's and KIM'S previously. The new 890 is a great looking machine. Feet pretty much on the ground. Congrats on the new bike Tjommi... it is really nice looking. It always impress me how little change can make such a huge difference on the same bike. It looks like the same display that come with the Norden with small upgrades. Let's hope it does not fog down in cold or wet weather. just as a side note, it that battery indicator is correct, you need to recharge it, it show that you only have ⅓ left of the power in it. Again, really glad for you with this new bike. Can't wait to see you play around on it in the Swedish forrest. It is time for a meet-up, coffee and cooking! Skååål! 🔥
Good morning Tjommi ☕️🤌! The TFT looks more like the one on the new 1290 Adv, and I hope it will work great. I never heard of issues on that 1290 TFT. With that said I had no problem with the 790 TFT. Some fog round the vent, that vapoured fast. I think this update looks good on the 890R and hope to have alot of 💪🔥✊️✊️💪🤠🔥🤌☕️🍺🍺 with it 😂🙌. On the voltage, forgot to mention that. There is always voltage drop if everything is turned on, so to measure there should not be any load on the battery. An unloaded battery with lower that 12,3V must be charged to not be degraded. I always charge the battery on the bike in the garage and have a quick connector for that. Definitely after having the ignition on for a long time like this without running the bike 😅.Even the short time Bike Trollhättan has the bikes on the floor or in the workshop, they connect chargers to the batterys. @@Braapncamp You know we don't want you to have any issues with the bike 😄😇 But yes this is a really good point many are missing out on. They can't understand why their batteri fails after one or two seasons. Well, something like you mention, if you don't plug it in... you can damage the batteri in the long run if left untreated.

Great review, congrats on your new 890R. I have one on order, due soon! I was not aware of cruise control as an option?? I know the 1290 has adaptive cruise control (I test rode one the other day) but I'm unsure of this or other feature on the 890R - kindly confirm. Cheers
Thanks! The hardwaew to the CC is therapy as standard. Bur ro get the CC feature you either pay dor that specific ir if you adderad the TechPack (recommended), it's included in that option.
The heated grips was extra and optional. I went for the OEM version that integrates with the TFT display. We enable the function thru the TFT menue the first time. Dealer showed me, nothing special was needed else than that. Really nice to have them integrated rather than a ugly "Button module" on the handledare like i had in the 690 and 790.
I was actually struggling with my mind about this front before I saw it in person. I liked the more naked look of my 790R. But now I really like this look and how the front handles airflow.

Ahhh congrats to You as well then! Yes it stays in the slip setting you left it in. I will check if the Throttle Response stays in f.ex. Rally when switching. I would expect that. Let me check and i get back after work.
Hi again, I tested this morning before I got to work, was too curious myself 👀😂. I can confirm that that the setting You do in Rally Mode still stays as set regardles if you turn off ignition or shirt between Street Mode f.ex. so in Street Mode You keep the Street Thottle Respone and when shifiting to Rally Mode You still have Rally Throttle Response as set. Great function! 👌

Hi Mattias, thanks for this first look. I would ask you what is the diameter of the GPS bracket. I'm considering mounting an SP Connect bracket but I haven't found that characteristic on the KTM website. Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure what dimension You are looking for? THe bracket has two bolts to the "tower" and a horizontal cylindric joint in middle and then a plate/flat surface with premade slots that fits various Navigators OEM fastening or adapters to mobile devices. Possible to drill in it as well.

The 890AdvS is a capable machine! The new updated one looks and seems to perform as an r and closer to the R. Way more than many of us need 🙌 Happy Trails!

It a nice machine! Yes The seats are compatible. At least there is a low seat available for the R. When looking at the Standard the R's compatible seats available, the heated seats for the R looks like they are in 2 pieces like on the Standard.
Tackar! 790R'en var riktigt fin och gjorde mig aldrig besviken. Makalös hoj jämfört med annat jag provat och denna bör ge det och även bjuda på finlir i förbättring. Hur denna är jämfört med 790 får jag återkomma till efter att ha kört den mer. Ingen hoj jag har haft innan har varit bättre eller komfortablare eller mer kapabel än 790R. saker jag retade mig på var skrikande bromsar, men de gjorde jobbet. Loctite behövde man komplettera med på ställen det borde funnits på. Räknar med att det är så på denna med.

Ok then they work differently. I will check how this works and get back. On the 790/890 You use the separate CC Button to controll all features of the CC. Not the arrows.
In Germany you can only pre-order them in Sweden already buy, that's unfair.... , Yes, it has gained visually and technically. Meanwhile, it even has a hazard warning lights. Have fun with the new bike, am looking forward to your next video about the bike
Hehe, I thought it might feel unfair! But you will get them 👌. The new look has grown on me, and it looks great in person. I have really missed the hazard blinker on the earlier KTM's. There is good use of that function. Hope to get out on the trails soon to get back with more impressions. 💪🔥
In March, the first bikes will probably be delivered in Germany. Then I'll put my hand on it and see what it offers me for my 890 adventure r. Am curious what you report on the new bike.
Personally I'd love 1 of these to do some long adv European trips on.......but I'm too wary of the reliability issues with this marque. For this reason I've ordered a Honda CRF 300 rally as I'd feel more comfortable travelling long distances on a Japanese bike. Best of luck with your new toy. Hope it works out really well for you. 👍
Thats a great topic on it's own. The Honda is known for it's reliability and engine built to last. Had a XR125L for my son, those where built to last 300.000Kms. With that said, none of my KTM's have let me down stranded or so as long as I have owned them. Happy Trails out there! Would be cool to follow the travels 🙌
Hi, not really. I like the Norden 901 and especially the Explore concept. Seems like You get alot included compared to the 890. The only two reason i have is that I have like 80 Km or 100Km to the closest Husqvarna dealer (not big deal) and that I like the more naked 890R. A Husqvarna Superenduro 901 with either Norde Colors or the typical Husqvarna enduro Colors would have been really nice. My experience with 701 is that it got new engine configurations and have better suspension settings than the 690. Maybe Husqvarna assembly line are better to details? I think the Exlorer model will atract those who travel longer distances but still want the WP EXPLOR suspension. It will sell! Looks like it is price as mine with extras, but more is invmcluded as std on the the Explore. Go for it!

Hi, Yes the tires and rims are tubeless, like the earlier 790/890's as well. If you want tubetype tires you need to but the optional Power Part rims.

Thanks for bringing out this video so quickly and being the first to give us a proper closer look at the new 890 AR. I have one on order but it will be a month or 2 before we see them in Australia and particularly all the way over in Perth if we even get enough for the pre orders. Thankfully we can ride all year round so we can hit the trails right away.

Hi Mattias congratulatiin to your new Adventure R. Have you had also problems with the cam shaft on the 790 Adventure? I am riding at the moment a 790 Adventure R and the inlet cam shaft is making a problem. Thinking to change to the 890 Adventure R also. The Adventure R is the ultimate travelling bike, if you cant reach the end of a road its not the bikes fault...😂😂😂
I actually don't know if I had the camshaft problem on my 790R. I traded it before the valve check service. I never felt or heard any thing bad in the engine, but who knows, I probably had the problem as well. I do not like to see mechanical engineering faults like this on new bikes and hope that the new 890R holds up better than what we see reports on the Internet. It's a wonderful and awesome bike to ride, so I really want it to be great mechanically as well.
I'd check that your temp gauge is correct... You mentioned -8, display is 0... Maybe that's a Swedish thing... Us Finns think it's summer in 0 degrees.

Very informative vid Mattias. Will try to catch the live chat tommorow. I have the T700 Yamaha and for the build up parts I have bought for it I could have bought almost two KTM'S like yours. They are ready to ride as much as I have experienced with my BMW's and KIM'S previously. The new 890 is a great looking machine. Feet pretty much on the ground. Heated grips are optional, not a part of demo mode.
Congrats on the new bike Tjommi... it is really nice looking. It always impress me how little change can make such a huge difference on the same bike. It looks like the same display that come with the Norden with small upgrades. Let's hope it does not fog down in cold or wet weather. just as a side note, it that battery indicator is correct, you need to recharge it, it show that you only have ⅓ left of the power in it. Good morning Tjommi ☕️🤌! The TFT looks more like the one on the new 1290 Adv, and I hope it will work great. I never heard of issues on that 1290 TFT. With that said I had no problem with the 790 TFT. Some fog round the vent, that vapoured fast. I think this update looks good on the 890R and hope to have alot of 💪🔥✊️✊️💪🤠🔥🤌☕️🍺🍺 with it 😂🙌. On the voltage, forgot to mention that. There is always voltage drop if everything is turned on, so to measure there should not be any load on the battery. An unloaded battery with lower that 12,3V must be charged to not be degraded. I always charge the battery on the bike in the garage and have a quick connector for that. Definitely after having the ignition on for a long time like this without running the bike 😅.Even the short time Bike Trollhättan has the bikes on the floor or in the workshop, they connect chargers to the batterys. @@Braapncamp You know we don't want you to have any issues with the bike 😄😇 But yes this is a really good point many are missing out on. They can't understand why their batteri fails after one or two seasons. Well, something like you mention, if you don't plug it in... you can damage the batteri in the long run if left untreated.

Great review, congrats on your new 890R. I have one on order, due soon! I was not aware of cruise control as an option?? I know the 1290 has adaptive cruise control (I test rode one the other day) but I'm unsure of this or other feature on the 890R - kindly confirm.

Thanks! The hardwaew to the CC is therapy as standard. Bur ro get the CC feature you either pay dor that specific ir if you adderad the TechPack (recommended), it's included in that option.
Did you 2023 ktm 890 adventure r come with heated grips working with the tech pack added and working? Or did you have to install the heated grips?
The heated grips was extra and optional. I went for the OEM version that integrates with the TFT display. We enable the function thru the TFT menue the first time. Dealer showed me, nothing special was needed else than that. Really nice to have them integrated rather than a ugly "Button module" on the handledare like i had in the 690 and 790.
Mine should arrive in March. Can't wait!

Ahhh congrats to You as well then! Yes it stays in the slip setting you left it in. I will check if the Throttle Response stays in f.ex. Rally when switching. I would expect that. Let me check and i get back after work.
Hi again, I tested this morning before I got to work, was too curious myself 👀😂. I can confirm that that the setting You do in Rally Mode still stays as set regardles if you turn off ignition or shirt between Street Mode f.ex. so in Street Mode You keep the Street Thottle Respone and when shifiting to Rally Mode You still have Rally Throttle Response as set. Great function! 👌

Hi Mattias, thanks for this first look. I would ask you what is the diameter of the GPS bracket. I'm considering mounting an SP Connect bracket but I haven't found that characteristic on the KTM website. Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure what dimension You are looking for? THe bracket has two bolts to the "tower" and a horizontal cylindric joint in middle and then a plate/flat surface with premade slots that fits various Navigators OEM fastening or adapters to mobile devices. Possible to drill in it as well.

The plate is fixed to the cylinder, i do not have the meassures right now but it looks like 20mm. Let me measure it later today.

Thanks Lonestsr! No the mirrors are not standard. KTM sells them as a powerpart for enduros or You actually find them on Amazon. I have alink in the description.

It a nice machine! Yes The seats are compatible. At least there is a low seat available for the R. When looking at the Standard the R's compatible seats available, the heated seats for the R looks like they are in 2 pieces like on the Standard.

Tackar! 790R'en var riktigt fin och gjorde mig aldrig besviken. Makalös hoj jämfört med annat jag provat och denna bör ge det och även bjuda på finlir i förbättring. Hur denna är jämfört med 790 får jag återkomma till efter att ha kört den mer. Ingen hoj jag har haft innan har varit bättre eller komfortablare eller mer kapabel än 790R. saker jag retade mig på var skrikande bromsar, men de gjorde jobbet. Loctite behövde man komplettera med på ställen det borde funnits på. Räknar med att det är så på denna med.

Ok then they work differently. I will check how this works and get back. On the 790/890 You use the separate CC Button to controll all features of the CC. Not the arrows.

Hehe, I thought it might feel unfair! But you will get them 👌. The new look has grown on me, and it looks great in person. I have really missed the hazard blinker on the earlier KTM's. There is good use of that function. Hope to get out on the trails soon to get back with more impressions. 💪🔥
In March, the first bikes will probably be delivered in Germany. Then I'll put my hand on it and see what it offers me for my 890 adventure r. Am curious what you report on the new bike.

Personally I'd love 1 of these to do some long adv European trips on.......but I'm too wary of the reliability issues with this marque. For this reason I've ordered a Honda CRF 300 rally as I'd feel more comfortable travelling long distances on a Japanese bike. Best of luck with your new toy. Hope it works out really well for you. 👍
Thats a great topic on it's own. The Honda is known for it's reliability and engine built to last. Had a XR125L for my son, those where built to last 300.000Kms. With that said, none of my KTM's have let me down stranded or so as long as I have owned them. Happy Trails out there! Would be cool to follow the travels 🙌
Did you consider the Norden 901 And what were your pros and cons?
Hi, not really. I like the Norden 901 and especially the Explore concept. Seems like You get alot included compared to the 890. The only two reason i have is that I have like 80 Km or 100Km to the closest Husqvarna dealer (not big deal) and that I like the more naked 890R. A Husqvarna Superenduro 901 with either Norde Colors or the typical Husqvarna enduro Colors would have been really nice. My experience with 701 is that it got new engine configurations and have better suspension settings than the 690. Maybe Husqvarna assembly line are better to details? I think the Exlorer model will atract those who travel longer distances but still want the WP EXPLOR suspension. It will sell! Looks like it is price as mine with extras, but more is invmcluded as std on the the Explore. Go for it!

So You say that this is a labeled CF Moto or that CF Moto makes one of the versions (new 790)? Have CF Moto designed this bike? Which model do CF Moto manufacture, the new 790 or the new 890 versions? Who manufactured the new 890 Adv R version? Who shiped my bike? CF Moto or KTM Austria. Alot of factors to get clear over here. Could You explain?
