I love this song so much. I'm a nurse in a hospital and to me this song draws parallels between WWII and the COVID pandemic. Now I hold my patient's hands through plastic hoping they know they are cared for in their isolation. I feel like this song gives me back my humanity. I'm not just some expendable person. I'm someone's daughter holding your hand through plastic.
The best thing about Taylor and her concerts is her Mom. Her Mom lurks on TH-cam and watches reaction videos and if she likes it, she will let Taylor know about the TH-camr. This happened on the reputation stadium tour when Taylor invited TH-camr fans for free. They even had a chance to meet Taylor backstage for free. And even if you're not a TH-camr. When you're sitted next to her Mom or near her Mom and she likes you by screaming and dancing to Taylor's songs, she will drag you to meet Taylor.
I lirtally burst into tears when you said you had been both a soldier and a medic! I just thought, "ooooooohhhh, this song hits on two levels, this is going to be intense!"
@@BeardedReactions It really is! Though with Taylor's music she can definitely throw more than one meaning at you and give you room to consider your own, so I don't think anyone is wrong either for making a connection to things people are going through today with covid. And by the way, thank you for serving our country! That's no easy feat! It takes a special kind of strong minded person to join the military.
for the first time I cry, listening to a Taylor Swift song and that is this you had reacted to. 'Someone's daughter, someone's mother' made me have emotions.
Thank you for your service! This song started out being about her grandfather being in war. When he came back, his family wanted to know things, but he couldn't speak about what he saw. He never opened up about anything to do with the war. It hurt his family to see him should ev he couldn't open up. As the pandemic got worse, Taylor added the pandemic into it some. The hospital workers helping and seeing what they were and getting traumatized also. You would not believe how hardly anyone gets the meaning of the song. You realized it within a few words. Thank you and the pandemic workers. Y'all saw things no one should have to experience and keep doing it without rest or time to process things. No one can understand what y'all went through except those who did with you. 🫡😷🙏👨🍳👩🍳🏥🏨🗽🥼🪖🩺😢💔🫂 I am so sorry for all of the heroes who fought and helped our Country and don't get the respect they deserve.
Taylor in "Folklore" has not only improved in the quality of the musical part but also I am glad that the lyrics also have very deep meanings. Epiphany contains one of the deepest lyrics on the entire album!!
Also, the combined use of the vitals monitor beeping and the brass instruments to represent both soldiers and healthcare workers is just so incredibly well done 😍
Thanks so much for your service.,.my Dad was a Navy Corpsman as well, during Vietnam, boots on the ground. I love the respect that many other veterans have for Corpsman, usually calling them Doc! It's really beautiful!
Hi Mr. Beard, glad you were touched so much by this song too, and thank you for your service! I was also very touched and just posted a piano/vocal cover on my page, I thought it was a very powerful message to share. All the best to you.
Hi, i REALLY love your reaction, i can't imagine the way you can relate with the song but she can make me be empathic with situations i never experience. the end in the song with the heart bip bip give me chills (sorry if i have some orthography mistakes, english is not my natal lenguage) 🇲🇽
"Epiphany" may be the best song about the comradeship of those who have gone through combat, or what the medical professionals are going through now, since "Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits.. It captures an awful lot in that one line "Things you can't talk about"... She is a genius lyricist.....
@@BeardedReactions Even the lyric video has a similar vibe to the MV for Brothers in Arms with that stark black and white treatment. My father was a military man his entire career and I think he would have loved this piece of art...
@@BeardedReactions Thank you very much for your service and I hope that this song helps you find some peace on those bad nights.... My Dad was in uniform for over 40 years and I think he would have loved this song..
definitely not only about military. second verse is about covid and the person with 20 minutes to sleep in that instance is either a doctor or nurse, hoping for a cure or treatment or better way to care for the many ppl dying. as a country we can never thank all of them enough for what they did for us. same with our troops. Taylor is a gifted songwriter.
Watching this Christmas Day 2021, this song hit me hard when I first listened to it. I relate to Taylor in that I’ve never served in the military, or worked in healthcare, but I have the utmost respect and empathy for those that do. Thank you for your service & Merry Christmas. I appreciate this reaction 🥺
hi. I totally got u my man. I'm Asian. My grandpa went to serve in WW2..against Japan..he never came home & I never knew him. But my late father went w him.. When I was young..still remember how my father spoke of him..how great he is.. I'm also a military man of my nation..though I never been to any battle so far..thank God. But when I listen to this Taylor masterpiece..my tears ran down uncheck..thinking bout my late father & how my grandpa breath his last in his very own arm.. My late father only spoke once bout this in his life..he only said my grandpa's a true warrior..& he breath his last in my own arms..
It’s okay that you don’t have a lot of words about this song. Your face said a lot of it. Thank you for your service. And thank you for giving this song the meaning and credit it deserves.
Love your reaction! I thought this song was incredibly beautiful and emotional. My grandfather was a merchant marine and my step dad is a retired chief master sergeant in the air force. Thank you for your service! Also go FSU!
I cried listening to this song as well Marjorie, every single time.. But Marjorie hit me the hardest coz I miss my Grandma and my doggie Ollie so so so much!!! 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yes I think its focus is on health workers going to battle with our current situation BUT music is interrupted by different people and if this takes you to the place of your service and the battles you fight within you... it has served its purpose . Taylor is a true artist
Yeah, epiphany is like when you first figure out a new perspective/view point/way of looking at something, you've had an epiphany about it. Like critically thinking about an issue and figuring out a new way of looking at it it's like an,"Ah ha!" moment.
Wish i could give u a hug. I honestly cried watching this. I hope u'll be rich soon n when u do, pls dont spend your fortunes on drugs n drinks. Travel n find your peace ❤️❤️❤️
she said that one of the song's was about her grandfather serving in WW2, safe to say this is it. this one's very emotional, brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it and it's such a beautiful, ethereal sound.
Honey, never compare your pain or trauma you others & feel pressured to be"better" because your experience wasn't as bad. PTSD is caused by trauma that is beyond the realm of your current human experience. The disorder is actually your brain trying to rearrange things so you can eventually cope & move forward a bit at a time. Recent studies suggest the sleeplessness is actually helpful while your brain is working things out! Just accept where you are today & each day after that!
her parallel between the Battle of Guadalcanal where her grandfather served and the COVID-19 Pandemic is incredible.
Agreed! Such a beautifully written song!
Seriously. It's two different kinds of front lines, both dangerous, both traumatizing. "Some things you just can't speak about." It's beautiful.

That is so cool! Obviously I am not big enough for that, but it would be cool for sure!
He will have to bring Bushy mama!
@@BeardedReactions You don't have to have a big TH-cam account to be noticed by her Mom or possibly even her.
As an active duty member, this song hits deep. I know she wrote it about her grandfather in WW2

It's also a tribute to the healthcare professionals on the frontlines of the pandemic right now. It's so beautifully written.

I think it's both about WW2 and the current pandemic/front line people. Thanks for sharing your story with us❤
Thank you for watching, and I agree I think it is about both!
You: I was a medic in the front lines
Me: Oh dear.... *hands you tissues*
Thank you!
I think this one is a metaphor for the battle that doctors and nurses are currently facing with COVID 19 but 🤷♀️
That could be it as well! They are crushing it!
@@buzzcutseason142 exactly! Thanks!
She starts with a story of her grandfather who was severely wounded and almost died in WWII, and then connects it with the current COVID pandemic.
It’s also about her grandfather
