There is a gearbox with 1, 2, 3 and then 3,5 where 5 would be and then 4 where 4 would normally be. Or kinda like that in a sense it is just a close ratio 5 speed gearbox basically but a bit different than average. o_o I have no idea if it is this or if he really does have a problem with the 4th gear.

Are you missing 4th gear or something? I swear it looks like you took initiated for the 3rd hairpin in 5th gear one time.
