Thank you for this, Chantelle. I work at the end of Bow Crescent on the west end, and I ride my bike under the train bridge every day to get to work - except winter, of course. ;) This was an amazing compilation, and it made me cry. Bowness is beautiful and is truly my home. Thank you.
We live just a couple kilometres from Bowness and love spending time there. We've had many wonderful meals in Bowness and my son learned to play hockey at the rink there. When Bowness needs to rebuild, we will be there. xo Sarah
I've been talking to friends who work in areas like Telus... the behind the scenes work being done throughout the flooding and the continuing work is incredible.The manhours and machinery that have come into play is amazing to the highest degree. The first responders, the communities coming together...egos put aside to help anyone who was and is in need. The capacity for caring that is being exhibited does this city proud... we are truly world class
Never is my life time did I ever imagine something so tragic would happen to Calgary. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost their homes, friends, family, and fellow Calgarians. Stay strong, we will make it through this. And most importantly stay safe.
I am a displaced Calgarian, living on the east coast. All of the video and still images I've seen have made me cry. My family are almost all still there, and thank the Lord, they are all okay, with no serious property damages. This hurts. I know the city will rally, and in a few months the visible damage will be all but gone, because that is what Calgarians do.
Spent the day down there today at my parents and neighbors as I grew there. This is tough, but the community is totally coming together - People and businesses from other parts of Bowness came down with bbq's and colds drinks to feed the people cleaning up. Others just showed up and said how can we help. We were so grateful - we are going to need a lot more help the next couple of days too if anyone can come down - it's wet and muddy.
The same thing could be said for every piece in the classical repertoire, however your comments are inappropriate. This video is greatly appreciated for those of us former Calgarians unable to get a good look at what the various neighbourhoods are experiencing. Her musical choices aren't in need of your artistic analysis.
I love Bowness. I have lived here for 7 years. This breaks my heart. The city will survive. It will take time to recover but in time we will look back and say it brought out the best in us.

Chantelle seems to understand and has explicitly stated her belief that everyone is entitled to have an opinion. I resent your claim that my comments are inappropriate, but I'm not looking for a fight, so I'll respect your opinion and refrain from further comment.
I was one of those people in the flood with a paddle boat. My friends thought it was stupid for me to get one, then I jokingly replied that "If Calgary ever floods, it won't seem so stupid then will it!" 5 years later, I rode with pride!
I live in NZ now, but my home and my heart will always be in Calgary. My mum and dads place is in Erlton and under water. Feel so helpless that I can't be there to help.
I am on the autism spectrum and there is a walk and run that we do every September and part of its route is across the Stoney Trail pedestrian bridge shown at 3:34, and because of the fact that it got swept away, our run was relocated. :(
I am so sorry for what you are all experiencing. I was born and raised in the city 50 years ago. It is difficult to see how much work has to be done to clean everything up. We thought hurricanes like Katrina caused damage - this looks way worse. :)

This situation is still in the realm of current events; it's not a story in need of a soundtrack, especially one that portrays it so cloyingly as sentimental tragedy. The original point I was making is that the music, which is truly beautiful, is being devalued by overuse. Everyone is slapping it on to everything lately in order to produce an emotional reaction. That's what I mean by "exploitive".
I promise this is bad but we have had only one reported death so we are very lucky! Plus the people in Calgary & Bowness are amazing. So proud of everyone!
