One thing the MCU has managed to do very well is Nebula's arc. She goes from a stone cold killer to a warm and integral part of the team. Surprising, really.
@@curtisbryce5096 She's a young woman in Hollywood, I can't say that I'm surprised. No idea what she's like off set, couldn't really care, but she did a great job with her role here.
Ya its sad honestly. At one point in time my wife and I would have bought tickets a week in advance for any Marvel movie. To put this into perspective, I didn't even know the movie came out last night.
This *PERFECTLY* describes how I feel.. this is fr the MCU’s goodbye it feels like.. idk what’s coming next.. but it feels like all the stories from the early phase1-3 avengers have officially ended with this movie.
I thought he was in the movie because he was a part of the Sovereign who were created by the High Evolutionary. Odds are, the High Evolutionary killed the Sovereign, save Adam Warlock and his mother as they could be used to hunt after Rocket. HE probably understood the Mother's drive to get revenge on the Guardians, so he saved only them for this purpose. They also established Adam wasn't completely ready when he was brought out of development which give him a narrative goal in the movie to mature. I guess the best way to put it is he is a prime example of the moral of the movie, everyone has faults but they can build each other up together.
I’m not gonna be afraid to say this; I really enjoyed it. I may have been suckered in this time, but I was entertained, had a few strong laughs, and rounded the characters off well. I d never put this and Love & Thunder in the same category.
If you're talking about directors dialed up to eleven, then these movies would be in the same category. bus yes i liked Guardians 3 and it's nowhere near as shit as Love and thunder.
I feel like I watched a completely different movie than the one these folks did. I’ve felt very jaded with the MCU lately but this movie was a wonderful blast of fresh air.
Ye i thought it was a 8 to 9/10. And i enjoy these guys but i think its just that jaded "well its the M SHE U so we don't like it" vibe. Not an unfounded position but god damn guys, gotta enjoy things every now and then
Yeah, this seemed to be my opinion and my thoughts coming out of it as well, i'm being careful to make sure i'm not just overly excited at watching a competent Marvel movie that didn't make me fall asleep, or made me feel like a spoon-fed child, after so much rubbish and nothing with no heart or soul, but it just seemed like a good marvel movie again that had focus on a simple story line with other shit happening in the background beacuse there's an ENTIRE universe out there, but it doesn't feel too cluttered or bloated. They actually did good. It feels like compared to the other 4 movies they need to copy and paste and s/hit out, this one was actually given some genuine love. OH YEAH, and we actually had some real stakes and an actual threatening villain that is going some sick sh/t unapologetically, it was so incredible to see something /serious/, I almost blew my mind I was expecting some sort of joke when we were talking about animal experimentation, i'm genuinely surprised they didn't throw some sort of f*rry joke or some s/ht in there because it was getting a bit "too serious". I'm so proud of them for their resistance, LOL.
I think the High Evolutionary has the highest kill count of all the MCU villains (other than Thanos). He blows up a planet with potentially billions of people on it.
I loved Nathan Fillion’s line when he was talking to Starlord. “I know what you’re talking about. I have one of those too.” I wonder how many audience members in management will relate. 😂😂
Bro I couldn’t stop laughing, I felt attacked lol but hey I got some recognition!! That line was a running gag and was said about 3 to 4 times…. And I loved it.
@Jaja he should've been the Captain of a chubby ship with something resembling a long neck, a wide head, and wings with engineer to break atmo. And wear a brownish long coat. And aim to misbehave...
Everyone's competent? Did we watch the same movie? Gamora literally joins the ravagers, tells the antagonists exactly where they are. Drax instantly assaults the alien population upon landing. They bicker like children in the house of aliens. Drax just drives off on the motorcycle after being told to guard rocket, and Mantis just decides to hop on with him? Drax, the character who has seen his children get massacred sees kids in effectively concentration camps and calls them morons first thing. The entire plot hinges on the characters acting stupid.
@@damon4512 I know it's not meant to be the most serious movie on Earth and I can get past a few conveniences for the sake of things happening but it just felt so forced to me. To each their own I suppose.
I think the movie was really solid. Well-acted villain, great writing. Gamora was well-written as a character who follows a new arc. It was not only not woke, it was arguably anti-woke per the villain's motivaton and how his "perfect society" winds up.
The whole point behind the movie was how horrible idealism is. The villain wants to create a perfect world (like so many people do today) but does horrible things. The heroes are all flawed and imperfect but they accept that and turn their flaws into strengths. I really liked the line "you don't want to create a perfect world, you just hate it the way it is"
@Sebastian Ryan agreed. This movie was about the tragedy of chasing perfection. Even how Quill was chasing his "perfect" relationship with Gamora, but ignoring the real relationship with his family I thought emphasized the theme.
The lack of woke is literally the only reason I gave this movie a chance. I haven't watched anything Marvel since after MoM and the first episode of She-Hulk made it very clear what the show was going for.
Sorry lads, but like many people in the chat I disagree with you on this occasion, which is a rare thing. Just came back from the theatre, and overall I really enjoyed it. Yes, Adam Warlock was underbaked (like he was in the film), and a few of the jokes fell flat, but it moved at a decent clip, I was never bored, most of humorous moments got a laugh out of me (and the rest of the theatre), there were some surprisingly violent/gory moments in the film, but most importantly it got the emotional beats right. Unlike any of the recent MCU films, this movie actually made me feel something in a good way - I wasn’t feeling boredom or insulted at the stupidity/laziness of the story. I give this film a solid 8/10. I think you might be riding the hate train a little hard on this one. I know criticism is your bread and butter, but fans of yours (and I am a fan) do notice when you’re laying it on too thick.
Its the one bad thing about the "fandom menace" They lump everything as extremely awful (que preaching Az rant), when things like this are genuinely done well and have a severe lack of all the crap they usually complain about
They’re not riding anything. Drinker even said he liked the film. I think y’all are just riding the shill train, but I guess my opinion is illegal right?
Wow, you must be really childish if the first half of the movie did not completely took you out of an immersion. It was so silly that those dramatics moments are overshadowed by the silliness :/
Yeah I thought the film was amazing. They’re clearly too deep in the hate train cause they couldn’t even realize that the reason it was a living station was because it cultivates many many life forms there.
Imo. Best MCU film since no way home. Which is just sad.. But to this film, I really have to give james gunn props. He gets emotional story telling. He understands how to properly set up arcs, the highs, the lows, and how to show what characters go through. And man..some of the camerawork and action scenes are literally stunning. I am really looking forward to his DCU.
This is weird tbh. I feel like with some plot details they’re tryna poke holes in it’s like they didn’t even watch this movie. Someone asked "did high evolutionary even have a motive?" And his entire purpose (and that Mfer even said it VERBATIM) was to create a perfect world. So when counter earth failed to be perfect he blew it up and vowed to start over and re attempt to create said perfect world
Nebula wasn't calculated, she was vindictive and unhinged. Her character made leaps forward, literally killing her old self, but there was still precedent for her personality in this movie. Converting over to the good guys doesn't mean you magically lose all your personality flaws.
Frankly, I really *really* enjoyed the movie. Like the ending got me cause it's like, yeah, the movie could have been done better and all, some improvements here and there but like, when you realize it, this is the last hurrah of the Guardians and depending on the trajectory of the MCU, the last true proper hurrah of the MCU. It was bloated, characters all over the place but each character had several moments to themselves to grow and have conflict and at the end, I was sad cause this was it. This was the last movie in the MCU I and a lot of other people had been *really* looking forward to. Other than that, what else is left? Avengers? that's years away. And it being disconnected from the rest of the MCU has always been a plus to the Guardians. other than the Thanos connections with Gamora and the Power Stone, all of the GOTG movies happened in their own pocket of space (pun intended) where you could watch any of the three movies at any given point in time and get caught up real quick. You didn't need to watch *twenty* other movies to know what the fuck was going on. just one or two and that's it. So, flaws aside, this movie really meant something to me and I had a good time at the end of the day.
CM just kind of ruined that whole part for me… Thanos’s ship felt like a genuine threat - then she just came through and destroyed it.. then Thanos couldn’t even give her the hands in a 1 v 1 …. Not even on some stupid “it’s woke shit” a new character just being introduced last minute and beating the main villain is so lame
I kinda went the other way. I expected nothing, and when it had something decent, I was pleasantly surprised. Drinker's summary is on point particularly.
"I got that reference." - Captain Steve Rogers There will still be people going to see Phase Five in theaters. I guess some of us still have the control chips.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are supposed to be goofy, fast paced and primarily a comedy while tackling mature themes. Taking off points for it being those things, and it for being a love letter to the 80s and pop culture by playing all that music means they don't understand what the Guardians of the Galaxy is supposed to be. This movie reminds me a lot of the game, with was also incredible. Usually they're reviews are pretty objective but this seemed like they were reviewing it as a marvel movie and not a GOTG movie.
To be fair to Nebula, if I had to deal with the Guardians of the Galaxy as they're presented in the movies I'd wind up screaming my head off at them 24/7 too.
Oh man. Rocket is the best character of the whole film. Bradley Cooper did a phenomenal job voicing him. Chukwudi Iwuji's performance as High Evolutionary was amazing and terrifying. Really put Kang to shame.
Adam Warlock came out too late to be relevant after the wasted build up he had in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and I thought he would have appeared in Infinity War or Endgame.
@@pedrokantor3997 He was teased in one of the mid-credits scenes of GOTG2, and a lot of people, including myself, thought he was going to be in either Infinity War or Endgame.
I agree Fred. The story was solid and interesting and all the characters had their place to be there. The movie did not felt like it was worse than the second Guardians movie to be completely honest.
This one was great. Rockets back story was a tear jerker. Most normal people have hated marvel since end game but this one was honestly good. I enjoyed both the first two guardian movies and i actually enjoyed this one even more than those. Rip floor, teefs, and lyla. I teared up.
Don’t listen to these guys. These people are toxic and always hating thriving on negativity. I come here once in a while to see if they have come to their senses but I was so wrong as always.

@@mossproductions6004 what criticism is “fair”??? I watched the whole thing and look it ain’t perfect movie by any means or best of the franchise but this is not an accurate critique and I did really enjoy this movie a lot.

I actually mostly enjoyed the film, but agree it's the least of the 3 GOTG films. But what I did appreciate for one thing is that the effects are (for the most part) miles better than any of the recent Marvel output. Which from what I understand is down to Gunn not using the Volume and having mostly practical sets (albeit CGI enhanced no doubt) for the actors to move around in. But I liked a lot of these characters and did not mind that it wasn't as much of a cull of charcters as some people were led to expect. And I also appreciated that there were no mention of any of the other marvel content to come (at least that I could spot)
I’m gonna see it sometime but I know it’ll be one of the mcus best films. It’s James Gunn lol the man made me love ego before I heard of omniman. Gotg 3 let’s get it.. it’s gonna be lit
Enjoyed it mostly as well. I like the Guardians, even though Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk introduced me to the MCU the first Guardians movie made me want to watch all the films. And that ending, I haven't cried at an MCU movies ever since Yondu's death in Vol. 2.
I absolutely loved the game, it's the best mass effect game in years. I was so impressed by Starlord, they really made him the glue that kept the team together which I never really felt in the MCU
I enjoyed the movie. It took my mind off my own concerns and life for a couple hours and i felt sadness and laughed at times. It entertained me. Sometimes i think film critics can be more harsh because thats what you do for a living. So every thing that doesn't line up exactly 100% is noticed and highlighted. I'm not criticizing you for that I think sometimes the simple idea of just going to a movie and being entertained so you forget about your own problems for a little bit, i think thats lost with youtube movie critics because they have to pick apart everything because thats their job. But sometimes just going to see a movie, feeling emotions and laughing is enough for regular people.
You hit the nail on the head! These guys know that ragging on a show or movie will get them lots of views and engagement in the comments, which will only help their view counts and revenue streams. It’s a business model at this point.
To quote Yahtzee: "If I had to criticize it, _and I do...."_ That sums it up nicely. Jordan's brand is in his channel name. If he were to start saying, "I dunno, I just went into the theater and forgot about life for a while," his view count would (and should) drop.
@@Maladjester that's a very good point. That wouldn't be interesting or entertaining. A movie critic can't just be like, "it was good, go see it." Your response helped me see that angle better. Thanks
The first time I’ve disagreed with these takes on a marvel movie, the movie was exactly what I wanted, it puts everything since endgame to absolute shame (aside from no way home)
Kinda I watched it and loved it. But there are some good points like Adam not doing anything after the first encounter. And sense a few people are leaving I kinda wish they did do some deaths instead of “Ight later guys” at the end and split up the band. At the same time it was so gory with the cannon fodder that was sweet
@@ThePatank I think Shang Chi does not deserve the hate it gets, and Moon knight as well. The good ones are the special presentations and NWH and I am groot, and yes, IW>Endgame
I know right?! It’s like saying a movie is good because it isn’t Woke. It’s like you’re trying to give this movie some sort of pass it don’t deserve. From the reviews I’m seeing so far this movie seems to be decent at best and that’s not good. At this stage of the MCU, Disney/Marvel can’t afford decent. They need people to get invested again into the MCU and quite frankly i don’t think this movie is going to do that.
The MCU has been milked dryer than a middle aged womans vag. No one cares anymore. Endgame was the last entry in this whole thing to anyone with a brain. Fuck me I'd say it was boring even before endgame released. All the MCU actors need to pull a Hugh Jackman and go star in something like Prisoners which is what he did to get some respect and to liven his career the fuck up when he had spent far too many years on X Men running around with fake claws in those tired out CGI fests that told the same story over and over again in every film. The superhero genre needs to be put to rest for a fuckin long time. It's been squeezed so tight for the last 15 years there's no juice there anymore.
The thing about High Evolutionary in the comics, which is why he can be portrayed as both good and bad, is that he's all about the science and his creations. His research is really his only cause and depending on circumstances can be good or bad.
It seems like it's becoming fashionable to rip everything apart. I think it was on par with the first two movies and a lot of fun. Granted, it was more of an emotional experience than I expected, but that's ok too. If that's a wrap on this group it makes an excellent trilogy. Yes, it's part comedy, but that was always a GotG trademark.
Its moreso with everyone being bored with the MCU, there not being buzz and trendy to dislike MCU. If this was released during phase 3, it would’ve been rated a masterpiece
Lmao someone actually said what I was thinking!!! I already knew this film was gonna be lit, I saw the trailers for the first two movies and gotg 2 is my favourite. Like that movie hit me in the heart and soul bro
Yes, it is sad to see what so much of the Fandom Menace has become. They don’t just irrationally hate things, but they prefer everything to be awful to justify their hate instead of wanting things to actually be good.
All this proves is that these five people (along with Drinker's dynamic and charismatic doggo, Lara) could talk off the cuff about a blank sheet of loose leaf for ten hours straight, and be more entertaining by an order of magnitude than the best fifteen minutes of most any Disney movie made today. The Drinker is the gift that keeps on giving.
Sometimes I listen to these people and think “we’ve gone waaay to far with the overly critical hate for anything and everything”. This is one of those times. The movie is great. I just wish one of you had the guts to actual say so instead of succumbing to the peer pressure of your little tribe of loathing.
I haven't seen it yet, but the original Rocket Raccoon and Adam Warlock comics both featured a lot of anthropomorphic animals, literal clowns, and insanity. Rocket's home world in the comics is an asylum. There should have been enough commonality between stories that they could work Adam Warlock in seamlessly. If they failed at that, then they only read wiki pages about the comics.
Are you joking ? They don't even read the wiki pages. Rami admitted to not watching Wanda vision which the movie he made was a direct sequel to that show not the first dr strange film. Feigie tells them don't worry about it and actively hired writers who are not comic fans. Readying a wiki post would be an improvement as inadequte as it is
@richsmith9638Fiege was never the genius that everyone propped him up as. The whole "In Fiege We Trust" phrase that was mindlessly pumped out was always cringe as well. It was more so Favreau that set the foundations and frameworks for the MCU before everyone started to give that credit to Fiege because his face was put out more during promotions. Favreau and the Russo's created the greatness in the MCU.
I think Guardians 3 is a great movie! It gets the emotions right. It makes me care about all the characters. Every character has an arc. They all end up at a different and interesting place. Sure, Rocket goes through some real trauma and it starts dark. But it has to. Otherwise the payoff and rescue at the end would not work. It would be shallow otherwise. There has to be real trauma. But it’s a hopeful movie because Rocket overcomes his difficult situation. Gamora’s and Quill’s story works very well, too. They are not in love anymore. But Gamora learns to appreciate Quill again but she doesn’t fall in love with him anymore. And Quill learns to let go. It’s bittersweet and very well told. The same is true for Drax and Mantis. Drax is not the idiot we thought he was. Mantis recognizes that but she understands that she has to leave the group in order to move forward. This reminds me of Buffy. Everything in this movie reminds me of Buffy and the stories of Joss Whedon. This movie has Joss Whedon written all over it. That’s a good thing. I love his storytelling. Down to the three buttons in the spaceship! That’s from Firefly. And it has a clear point of view without being woke. We should protect the weakest members of our society and not sacrifice them for the greater good. This reminds me of Cabin in the Woods. Another Whedon movie with a great message that makes you think. Here in the mountains, that’s what we call great storytelling! We are all nerds here. We love to read and we should appreciate a story well told. Guardians 3 is such a great story!
I liked it. It wasn’t woke. It didn’t emasculate all of the males at the expense of Mary Sue’s. They brought a good and surprising amount of emotion in it. I felt they had too much plot armor, but I think we need to appreciate it when the filmmakers are trending in the right direction.
@@OrangeisBlack-hy1kj exactly, it's my #1 marvel movie and I've grown up with the entire trilogy, these lot are all just miserable c**ts, excuse my language but this video was probably one of the most triggering vids I've ever watched, some stuff they said made no sense, it's as if they never even watched the movie or understood the purpose of some of it. Nebula got her fulfilling ending of shifting from that of a villain to a caring gaurdian, it was one of the most perfect endings
I dunno. I saw it last night at 11pm with my girlfriend and she loved it and the audience was laughing hard The comedy was on point with 1 and 2, from Drax to Nebula. Nebula was the mvp of the movie, but Pratt and Zoe delivered as wel as the side characters. Music was fine. Great action. Everyone had proper sendoffs and it had a LOT of emotion. I truly think it was a great way to end the Guardians trilogy. Adam Warlock wasn't in it much, but they could be using him in other movies later on. I don't blame Gunn since Marvel messed up his character arc not introducing him earlier to fight Thanos. In terms of comedy and tone, go watch the the other 2 and there is just as many comedy beats in this one, probably more. I guess maybe the 2nd time I see this I will analyze it some more, but all I know is that last night I had a fucking great time with a bunch of strangers seeing a Marvel movie. I haven't had that effect since No Way Home

"you're not meant to be a destroyer, you're meant to be a dad" I liked that line, and from Nebula of all people. There was plenty wrong with this movie but I still enjoyed it immensely. Maybe my standards are just so low after phase 4.
I enjoyed it, it was really good fun, surprisingly touching at parts and a fitting end to this part of the saga it may not be the highest benchmark but this and no way home are easily better than anyting that's happened since EG
I loved it, there was so much feeling of ‘family’ throughout. I didn’t like all the death fake outs though. I don’t understand why people ate hating on it, it was the best since Endgame and SM No Way Home. Marvel is still dead though.
90% of the time I’d say I agree with you all. But this is probably one of the rare times where I absolutely disagree. Movie had a ton of heart to it with a story that kept my attention for its run time. The jokes landed mostly every time for my audience as well. Sorry, but I think you guys missed the mark on this one
I agree as well, this movie was incredible, and marvel/superhero movies aren't generally my thing. In general these guys are on point. (I also loved Blade Runner 2049, which makes it another exception)
The problem with the jokes was they showed the best ones in the trailers. I think the jokes would have been better if they were fresh. I think they leaned in really hard on the silliness to counter the darker elements, which made those serious moments lose their impact. I don’t think it was bad, but it wasn’t particularly good either. I thought they forced the music into scenes, where Guardians 1 used music more organically.
@@WilliamTheMovieFan I personally felt that *almost* all of the comedy didn't finish the show. The only situation I wish they let stay serious was toward the end, when Nebula confronted Drax.
I'm glad the comments are defending this film and exposing these peoples' lunacy talking about Guardians 3. I haven't felt this way out of the theater for a Marvel film since Endgame. Yall need to just let go of your bias against Disney/Marvel and admit this movie slapped.
I LOVE Baggage Claim, I get so excited when you have her on the panel, I don't even care what you guys are talking about! (I haven't seen this film and maybe won't at least for a long time) May I suggest a guy I think might be great with you guys? His name is Greg Owen. He's kind of small time right now but his production value and commentary is so on point!
From the way Drinker describes Gamora in this movie, I feel bad for Zoe Saldana a little bit because well, you shouldn’t have to play a character that’s a jerk to everyone the whole movie
Gamora was always a jerk before the first gotg, without the first movie, she wouldn’t have grown as a character, but she grow as a character by the end of the movie
I don't feel bad because she's known for being an ass to her coworkers, so for once they're writing her more as she is. She lost her first major role in Pirates of the Caribbean because she wouldn't stop yelling and bitching about how Johnny Depp was being treated better than her. She claimed sexism and racism and every other name under the sun as the reason why the veteran actor and main character was treated better than the no-name newbie. So insufferable was she that she got herself fired off the project and her character was simply removed from future movies: Saldana bitched herself out of a recurring role in one of the biggest and most beloved series of the past twenty years.
Gamorra to me was where I disagreed most with the crew’s take. As Fringy brought up, Loki is the way I feared they’d do it: “look she’s a happy Guardian now despite having gone through none of the smaller relationship building, character-supporting moments in 1”. Instead I could imagine the awkward scene post-Endgame where she’s stuck alone, she helped kill her father and save her sister, but she’s still harder than after Guardians 1+2, before her bigger story was told I perceived her as a gun for hire in Vol. 1, fine with crime and violence to achieve a goal, just not genocidal. Set back to that, she doesn’t feel she belongs anywhere, so she joins -perhaps at Nebula’s suggestion-the Ravagers who are misfits themselves and go do warrior type missions where she can sate a battle-lust. For once I think semi-clunky exposition may have helped that, but I got where Gunn was trying to keep her in the Guardians’ orbit but not pretend she bonded to the Guardians without going through the experience in this film which for her performs a similar function to Vol. 1.
Agree with panel 99% - worst of triology, best of phase 4/5 MSheU. This is messy, music was worst - James Gunn dialled to 11 is exactly what I thought as I watched it. Word of mouth overall is decent so picking up. I watched 1st Day release & it was nearly empty theatre, weak after, more of a crowd. Deadpool 3 is only other potential profits for Marvel.
Disagree with y’all’s underwhelming reaction. It was a bit messy, but the plot was very compelling, the character chemistry was great, the comedy was much better than than what the MCU had become, the CGI was actually really good. I don’t have a problem with the music apart from the fact that it wasn’t full of classics like the 1st two. The villain was great. Great acting, great writing. They really acted like a family, at least mine. Lots of arguing, but from the heart because they love one another. The goofiness wasn’t an issue for me since it is guardians. It’s a tree a raccoon a robot lady and three aliens flying around space on an adventure. You should expect goofiness. 8/10 for me and I look forward to seeing it again. Probably a true 7-7.5, but it gets a boost for not being complete garbage like the MCU has been since endgame.
I went in with very low expectations because the trailers didn’t do much for me. I’m middle of the road with the movie. A lot of the serious scenes were good, the action scenes were ok, and almost none of the jokes were funny. Definitely don’t think it was bad, it just wasn’t great.
Not sure what point you're making here. At this late date, there is no way in which watching the previous films in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, financially benefits Disney in any way.
Agreed. I just finished Guardians 1&2 . Wow Guardians 1 was so spontaneous. Loved the characters being crushed together and sort of becoming the family ..mantis was so interesting in the first 2 .. rocket had so many brilliant schemes in those. In 3 he’s on the table about 1 hr 47 min .. Gamora wasn’t Gamora .. Drax lost a lot of his edge. Didn’t notice groot ..he was so huge and brutish in 3 .. was lovable in the first 2 haha. His facial expressions cracked me up in first 2 ..guardians 3 seemed disconnected , flashy without substance , quill wasn’t interesting to me .. his humor fell flat this time.. his sad drunken scenes came off more just empty than as if he’s in love /grief
@@jgnmtz to each their own, but I don't know where "flashy without substance" comes from. there are plenty of themes, everyone in this movie basically gets their own arc, for better or for worse. some definitely more fleshed out than others. but while the first two felt like they focused more on the team and their relationships with one another, this one feels more personal to the characters themselves. I think he may have tried to do too much with too little runtime (even though 150 min isnt short lol), but I never really felt this movie was hollow on a storytelling level.
Yeah, Star Lord getting his sort of Rambo 4 ending where he finally returns home was something I've wanted to see since the first movie. And I'm glad no one died, as much as these guys complain that cute animal characters is manipulative, the exact same can be said for forced deaths in the final movie of a trilogy. This was too much. Drinker actually sounded angry, like wtf? Did these guys watch the same movie i did? Even if you didnt like the film....cheer up. Your looking like grumpy old men😂😂
Yeah they’re coming off as grumpy MCU haters and not as unbiased as they’d like. Has the MCU been trash for 5 years? Yes. Was this movie great? Yes. Both can be true
If Adam warlock had his arc in endgame similar to the comics then maybe james gunn would not have needed to use him like that or felt life he had to wrap up his story.
Pros and Cons of this movie: Pros: -Rocket Racoon's backstory is totally dark and they even dare to show animal abuse -Nebula is more chill and relax on this movie showing her character development how she went from grumpy tough chick because of Thanos' abuse to be the voice of reason of the group -The Guardians have good chemistry together and you root every single of them to live -Once again, another awesome hallway fight scene which becomes Marvel's new trend now since Daredevil TV Show -The first time there's an F-Bomb on MCU when Peter told Nebula to "Get in the Fucking Car." Holy Shit, that was unexpected. They mostly said Shits a lot. -I don't know if this is the last ending of the franchise but the ending is so heartwarming to see everyone is happy and find their purpose Cons: -Adam Warlock is so out of place of this movie, not gonna lie I thought he's gonna be the main villain at first. -Groot and Rocket who usually are dynamic duo don't share much screen times together even we never learn how these two met after Rocket escaped from Counter-Earth and how they become partners in crime. Also, Groot who's always be the heart and soul of the group somehow not doing much on this movie and he barely said "I Am Groot" a lot. -When did Mantis learn how to fight? Her ability is just manipulating people's emotion even in Infinity War and Endgame, she's so useless -The main villain has 5 year old tantrum as he likes to scream for no reason. Also, he kinda looks like he's somehow related to Kang because their design look similar. Also, what's up with Pre-Thanos' MCU villains with color purple now? -Quill still doesn't get it that his Gamora dies and even past Gamora rejects him many times. Seriously, this subplot is so pointless. -Peter Quill just being a side character of this movie as the movie is way focus on Rocket and his tragic backstory -Drax is just there for being dumb tough guy and has to need to get babysit by Nebula and Mantis every time, you know "Strong Female Character and Dumb Guy" trope these days. -There's some scenes that I found is keep longer and longer and I even thinking, when does this movie end? -The Gold People from Guardians 2 is so pointless and turns out, they are one of the creations from the main villain? Even I forgot the Gold Chick was there most of the time. But, I'm gonna give this movie 7.5/10 and it's one of the best MCU Phase 4 since No Way Home.
It was uneven. The first hour was rough, but there was some genuine laugh out loud moments, and I enjoyed the end. Maybe because marvel has dropped the bar so low, but it was way more watchable than their latest stuff. Definitely not peak marvel, but worth a watch in the theater.
The purpose behind the guardians film was to overcome trauma, just killing them and having a Deadpool to satisfy this hollowed concept that we need it as an "emotional payoff" is actually legit fucking stupid. Them surviving is a testament to the theme the films were saying, the emotional payoff is thst they did manage to defy the odds and get to live happily rather than get consumed in trauma
I agree with Drinker here at 9:15 i feel like gunn wanted some death scenes but seems the executives didn't want any of them to die but we could be wrong Edit: I put mauler instead of drinker 🧍🏻♂️
@@eyespy3001 not sure who ur quoting there but death can make or break a movie depending on it. If the main characters never feel like in any real danger then the stakes become low and there is no tension in the movie. Granted tho death doesn't have to happen for there to be tension in the guardians case it wasn't too bad but there are instances where some things happen but there is no consequences to them. Like for example drax/nebula get shot and cough up blood and like two seconds later are perfectly fine. Like I said tho with this movie it wasn't too bad or important I just feel like Gunn teased a death but nothing wrong with no one dying.
@@nellio3981 I was just mocking the dumb sentiment that the people in this video have about this topic, which was seemingly being echoed by your comment. I appreciate you elaborating on what you meant. I will say this, though- I don’t think James Gunn teased a death leading up to the release of the movie. It was social media “theorists” (for lack of a better term) that started that, with the theory that Drax would be dying because of statements made by Dave Bautista about not wanting to return to this character ever again.
Personally might be my favorite guardians film rivaling number one. Might be recency bias on that but I thought the camera work was awesome and I loved seeing rockets backstory. Not perfect but I really like it

@@lexian2006 I think the same, Iwuji's acting was so damn good ! the problem is the writing materials he got. high evolutionary started as cold and ruthless but then he became irrational despite being a scientist... like he didnt need to blew up a planet full of ordinary people he created... the script is just nonsense that is why in my comment i was joking - maybe marvel give bad material on purpose so High Evolutionary doesnt outshine Kang... but still IMO, Iwuji showed better performance than Major (Kang)
@@yohanesbobbysanjaya3541 blowing up the planet of near perfect creations amplified his desperation with being foiled, and drove home his quest for perfection and what he would do to achieve it. I feel nathan fillion was cast to further drive this point, as he is famous for firefly and serenity, which ultimately has the exact same themes as this movie: an entity that is willing to destroy the humanity in ourselves to achieve the perfect civilization For me this is easily the best villain aside from Thanos, and in certain ways better.. ultimately, the bad guy is a lenin, Stalin, mao figure, the ultimate authoritarian.
Since they said "Phase 4" several times in this video, should point out that Phase 4 ended with the Guardians Holiday Special. It's Phase 5 now, starting with Quantumania. Rough start.
@@erubin100 Very true. All the more reason it should be pointed out to anyone who doesn't know yet. Really, the Phase 4&5 distinction is pretty irrelevant at the moment. It all still feels like everything before Endgame, then everything after Endgame. Even so, they say it's Phase 5 now then I guess that means it's Phase 5 now.
The only movies that really stood out to me in maybe the past 3-4 years is Top Gun: Maverick and John Wick Chapter 4. The latter is somewhat over-the-top in terms of surviving all of that stunt from John (in character). I’m sooooo tired of superhero movies after Endgame and The Batman. Top Gun was incredible, especially the hypersonic Darkstar scene at the beginning, that really got my attention. Personally I’m probably gonna stop going to the theater so often and only for that special movie or two that so actually look for forward to. As for GoTG: Vol 3, I didn’t care for it besides a little humor here and there, I really didn’t like it.
Top gun was literally an improvement over the first one and as close to a 10/10 as a film like that can get. Incredible. It showed Hollywood everything doesn't have to be cgi bs and capeshit. Hollywood did not listen

What's interesting is that a lot of people seem to like this movie even the most hardened nerds seem to have liked it. I've had my many gripes with Marvel and it's one of the things that has gravitated me towards this channel... that being said I can't think of the last time this panel said anything good about Marvel in general. This movie got pretty good reviews from both critics (which I could care less about)and audiences (even though at the end I form my own opinion) and that's extremely rare. Even people who don't like James Gunn even like this movie. My point is this you guys got to be positive about some things Marvel is not all that bad.

Of course, I can't tell you what I thought because of my personal commitment to not watch any superhero movies or streaming shows in past 11 months. I loved it. It may not stand up to serious critical analysis but Iwuji’s performance as the High Evolutionary was brilliant- entertaining and sinister without being cliche if you ask me. I think Saldana knocked it out of the park too and I really enjoyed Drax’s dialogue. It was cool to see Nathan Fillion too as I’ve just got the missus watching Firefly. I thought I was going to hate Adam Warlock but I actually found his mummy issues funny and I liked his English style accent- it reminded me of Arnold Rimmer. In fact, the whole movie had a feel of Red Dwarf about it, and I’m pretty sure James Gunn has been watching some Graham Linehan, Chris Morris and Peter Baynan stuff.
The Best: The movie leaned into Rocket's backstory/emotional arc really hard. Did a pull a little too hard at the heartstrings sometimes? Yes. But it was a good plotline that didn't play it safe, thus I'm surprised Disney allowed it. The Worst: Almost every hero and villain in GOTG3 seems to be simultaneously human yet wildly super-powered and also quite vulnerable yet totally invincible. There's a few moments in the movie where it even goes out of it's way to be inconsistent.
8:06 Platoon. I know what scene you are talking about and as the dramatic music played I thought I missed something about how the guards had special guns that could kill characters from the movie 🤣 I still thought gotg3 was 97% delightful though. I want to go see it again!
It was 2 or 3 movies slapped together. Rocket's part was clearly the main focus but every other parts had some sort of story behind them but was hastily stitched together. It could have been focused on Rocket for this movie and maybe Adam Warlock as the movie's Mr. X, and maybe they could have a second movie focused on Quill, Gamora, and Nebulla patching each other up and restructuring the Guardians. They did Adam dirty, man. The guy was supposed to be the one who talked Thanos to putting everything back after almost wiping life out of the universe but they turned him into a kid that's about to throw a tantrum at a toy store. That being said, this IS probably the better MCU movie since Phase 4.
One thing the MCU has managed to do very well is Nebula's arc. She goes from a stone cold killer to a warm and integral part of the team. Surprising, really.

Warlock was only in GotG3 because he was teased at the end of 2 and they had no idea how to incorporate him post-Endgame
because theyre mor0ns....... they shoudlve used Adam instead of shxtty Captain Marvel.......... like how are they this rich while being this stupid?
No the point of the movie was James Gunn writes at least one REGARD.
Yes. A wasted opportunity. He is now just some super dude with no meaning
What do you mean incorporate him post endgame? How did endgame impact their ability to use him?

I love how everyone is competent in their own way and acts more like a family in each movie which I really appreciate

@Blackjack that's a good point! I missed that one
The lack of woke is literally the only reason I gave this movie a chance. I haven't watched anything Marvel since after MoM and the first episode of She-Hulk made it very clear what the show was going for.
I'm betting that Gunn's Superman is going to be wild. And long overdue.😮😮😮

Wow, you must be really childish if the first half of the movie did not completely took you out of an immersion. It was so silly that those dramatics moments are overshadowed by the silliness :/

I am really looking forward to his DCU.
Its better than no way home
This is weird tbh. I feel like with some plot details they’re tryna poke holes in it’s like they didn’t even watch this movie. Someone asked "did high evolutionary even have a motive?" And his entire purpose (and that Mfer even said it VERBATIM) was to create a perfect world. So when counter earth failed to be perfect he blew it up and vowed to start over and re attempt to create said perfect world
yeah, he explained his motive multiple times during the film. Maybe they wanted him to have some sad Disney backstory.
Their ignorance and elitism just shows why they aren't creatives. Just jaded bitchy losers who don't live for anything other than hatred.
Nebula wasn't calculated, she was vindictive and unhinged. Her character made leaps forward, literally killing her old self, but there was still precedent for her personality in this movie. Converting over to the good guys doesn't mean you magically lose all your personality flaws.
I can't believe they got that part wrong.
She didn't. She was judgemental and overly critical and it was addressed in the movie. Why would she be vindictive against anybody other than Thanos?

Still better than DC
Its a good movie.
As a guardians fan this was a perfect conclusion.
It reminded me of The Og Marvel era

She makes sense when she just thanos pet in this movie not the developed one
Well... Endgame kinda reset her tbh

If Adam warlock had his arc in endgame similar to the comics then maybe james gunn would not have needed to use him like that or felt life he had to wrap up his story.
Pros and Cons of this movie:
Pros:
-Rocket Racoon's backstory is totally dark and they even dare to show animal abuse
-Nebula is more chill and relax on this movie showing her character development how she went from grumpy tough chick because of Thanos' abuse to be the voice of reason of the group
-The Guardians have good chemistry together and you root every single of them to live
-Once again, another awesome hallway fight scene which becomes Marvel's new trend now since Daredevil TV Show
-The first time there's an F-Bomb on MCU when Peter told Nebula to "Get in the Fucking Car." Holy Shit, that was unexpected. They mostly said Shits a lot.
-I don't know if this is the last ending of the franchise but the ending is so heartwarming to see everyone is happy and find their purpose
Cons:
-Adam Warlock is so out of place of this movie, not gonna lie I thought he's gonna be the main villain at first.
Her ability is just manipulating people's emotion even in Infinity War and Endgame, she's so useless
-The main villain has 5 year old tantrum as he likes to scream for no reason.
-Peter Quill just being a side character of this movie as the movie is way focus on Rocket and his tragic backstory
-Drax is just there for being dumb tough guy and has to need to get babysit by Nebula and Mantis every time, you know "Strong Female Character and Dumb Guy" trope these days.

It's so hard to tell at this point, I don't really blame them.
And puss in boots the last wish. Animation deserves. It’s win to
JW4 was awful though
Dune II is coming...
Support independent movie theaters instead.
Top gun was literally an improvement over the first one and as close to a 10/10 as a film like that can get. Incredible. It showed Hollywood everything doesn't have to be cgi bs and capeshit. Hollywood did not listen
Its fucking impossible to please some people. Opinions are opinions, not judging, but how much does it take for these people to be even slightly satisfied? Yeah, im staying away from these negative reviews cause I absolutely loved this film. Hope that my opinion is respected.
I respect you. I love the movie.
Couldnt watch this pretentious review. Just a bunch of people trying to find something wrong with a good movie
I really enjoyed it. It felt more like an old style MCU movie. Love these characters. None of the new characters introduced in phase 4/5 candle hold a candle to the Guardians.
I avoided all trailers and went to see the movie cold not knowing what to expect. And I ended up very entertained. As a matter fact, i loved it
Same, idk really know what they’re on about with this one. Movies definitely a little messy and over long, but I had a blast overall
@@a.firkaly6548 Agree, not huge fan of Marvel movies overall but enjoyed this one as much as the first two in the franchise.
@@a.firkaly6548 humor worked much better compared to vol 2, and wasn't at all too much considering the amount of darkness this movie had.
@@jimn7692 it was def better than gotg vol 2, but vol 1 is still the best of the trilogy.
Right wtf these guys on about ? They have problem with every female character atp

I don't really understand how the villain can create whole worlds of people yet cannot easily fix his own face.
because gunn wanted a gross prosthetic to harken back to his horror days
9/10 movie for me, kinda missed star lord comic accurate masked
Gamora sucked in this movie. Even if she didn't get to be the Gamora from the original movies. She wouldn't have changed so much.
I fucking loved the movie personally
That’s because it is a great movie, and you don’t hope everything is awful now like these guys do.
Come on you guys, it’s not every day hate
Gotta agree. Kinda think they are a bit over-critical on this one.
every day hate brings in more money and views for these guys, especially if marvel movies are involved
It's nice that you had " baggage claim" . She is a classy lady WHAT was she Drinking?? I want that. Of course, I can't tell you what I thought because of my personal commitment to not watch any superhero movies or streaming shows in past 11 months. So far, after listening to you all......I made the RIGHT decision.
Saying this movie is bad is crazy
They made a few valid criticisms. But everything else they said seemed waaay too harsh.
GOTG3 Was an amaing film. Rockets origin story was told very well
WTF? I have to disagree.
There are so many cool things in that movie. It's well done and fun to watch.
8:06 Platoon. I know what scene you are talking about and as the dramatic music played I thought I missed something about how the guards had special guns that could kill characters from the movie 🤣
I still thought gotg3 was 97% delightful though.
