If your careful with a 1 watt or so laser you can get by without glasses as long as you don’t hit anything reflective or light colored things like white and such were the dot becomes bright but still not a good idea. I can’t imagine a 7 watt one. The dot alone on a wall would be dangerous. Really cool laser, I’m sure it can burn really fast. But not a toy to say the least, has to be handled responsibly. Yeah I do it all the time, you just don't want to stare at the laser when it's pointed at a white wall, for too long, or you will start to experience some some temporary retina burn, that lasts for a few minutes
I have a beam extender, that let's me make the focal point anywhere I want. So I can make it focus feet away from the laser, and burn a hole through a whole toilet paper roll.
These powerful lasers are cool but seem dangerous. I just got a hold of one that is advertised at 1600mw / 1.6 watt. It's really intense, burnt my hand on it while adjusting the focuser. Also lights matches in an instant. I'm looking into getting OD6 glasses which will protect my eyes. Pointing these things at houses with windows is not a good idea.
60mw can engrave, use goggles or glasses if ur gonna do it tho or avoid seeing the dot by covering it. Rule of thumb is the more scattered the light is the safer

I have been looking and pricing on Sanwu and the blue lasers are the most pricey and videos show the burning that it can do. The more I look into this, the more I realize that lasers are seriously dangerous and as cool as they are, they aren't for joking around to show your friends. Besides the obvious, there is little to no real world use for an overly powerful laser and it immediately points out where you are standing, the blue ones aren't as bright as the green and don't really burn stuff like you'd think a $500-800 item would. I'd like a powerful light to point at stuff but don't really want to hurt stuff or pay fines for accidental damage. So is red or green in a lower power what I am looking for or do I just buy a high power led flashlight (that has real world uses) I think I answered my own question.
Just buy a green laser it's the most visible color. A 100mw green will still be very visible but much less dangerous and very cheap. I recommend a laser 303 532nm, they're pretty decent quality cost $10, very visible around 80-100mw. Burning is pointless you need to wear goggles so you can't even see the laser.

I don't think you're telling the truth that your laser pointer can come up to 7 watts.Why ? Because a couple of years ago when I was told there's never been any sold blue laser pointer with output power over 5 watts from San Wu factory by a local worker's sent online message. In another word,San Wu at most provides customers of 5 watts blue laser pointers just under the Mainland China Government's export policy.
