Displacement isn't quite "distance with direction." If I walk 5 miles north then 5 miles south, my "distance with direction" is just 5 miles north and 5 miles south. Adding "with direction" doesn't explain that this makes them vectors that add together graphically. Displacement is the change in position; where the object is compared to where it started.
@@Anjstar41 If I have you to take 5 steps to the right then 3 steps forward, and then ask "What's your 'distance with direction'?", it would be unclear what I'm asking. If I ask for your displacement, that means that I want to know where you are compared to where you started.
