In this lesson we explain the difference between distance and displacement in physics. We start by explaining what the distance formula is and how it differs from the displacement formula.
The number line is used to show the difference between these two concepts in physics, and examples are worked so that the student can get practice.
I am from India. His accent and teaching method was so good that even i was able to understand this without using captions. Thank you sir
this guy is a chad for explaining it 1000000 times easier
I recently got a pre-apprenticeship in the electrical trade and was told I needed a physics credit to become an apprentice, and signed up for a course. When I tell you I was stressing out so much until this video!!! THANK YOU, such clear instructions unlike my course D:
I like watching him draw and narrate his number lines
))) me too...
Makes me think like I'm map reading. Plotting and azimuth on a compass.
Really good stuff.
Thank you thank you good job......letraily I spend my half day on understanding displacement thank you for explaining in such a easy way
Best teacher I've seen!!!
If I pass my tests, it would be all because of you sir, thank you so much. The way you explain it is amazing!
Hello, I have a question why did we subtract 5-1 in distance for the first example as in it, we should add them to get the total distance
you are very delightful! Thanks for being an exceptionally great instructor!
This helped me with physics homework.
Also if you moved 2 metres to the left and then 3 metres to the right, your total distance moved would be 5 metres, but your displacement would only be 1 metre to the right.
im only here because i didnt study for a quiz. thanks for the video, though !
I’m really appreciate that. Now I understood the point, even the English is not my first language. Thanks a lot
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for this
Excellent presentation! This was really helpful.
"A lot of people go through the first couple chapters of physics not really know what displacement is". Nahh I was doing delta is equal to millions last night. I caught on real quick. Took some practice but I was up until 1 am. I cannot believe I can do physics with my eyes closed. I cannot believe this is physics. I love it so far.
Thank you sir for this explanation
but distance should always be added right ?
You are a life savvvvvvvvvverrr!!
Can you tell me how distance is path dependent whereas displacement is path independent ??
Pleas reply sir...
@@surendrapandey680 If you moved 2 metres to the left and then 3 metres to the right, your total distance moved would be 5 metres, but your displacement would only be 1 metre to the right. That is what they mean by "path-independent". You'd end up in the same place relative to where you started, independent of the path you took to get there.
Very good teacher
thankyou bro
10:10 - “Which way did ‘e go?! Which way did ‘e go?!”
Really amazing.. wow
Merci Sir
How do I get the video in proper sequence, starting from introduction to physics
thankyou❤
hey man i just wanna make sure that i get it, can u check my answers on my assessment?
DISPLACEMENT
1. 5 meters(south) to 4 meters (north)=-1meters (south)
2. -1meter to 6 meters= 7 meters
3. 1meter to -7 meters = -8meters
4. 7meters to -7meters = -14 meters
5. 3meters (north) to 9 meters(south) = 6 meters (north)
DISTANCE
1. 6meters to 7 meters = 1 meter
2. 2 meters to 8 meters = 6 meters
3. 3meters to 9 meters = 6 meters
4. 8 meters to 10 meters = 2 meters
5. 7 meters to -8meters = 15 meters
can u please check this?
I think you got it!
@@kaitlynharris7243 thank you

can you upload more video?
I am pakistani and i like for physics so discuss mechanecs topic tnx
❤❤❤ so sweet
salamat lods…
welcome lods
I appreciate your videos. Your way of teaching is spot on for me, please continue. I plan to learn all these courses. I will say though I am getting quite confused on the order of your videos. Either You Tube is not showing all your videos or they are labeled in a different way then I am used to.
REFERENCE POINT= 0 always tripped me, I thought 0 is that initial position... THANK YOU SO MUUCH!!
OMG...you're a bomb, Sir👏👏Your explanation is very explicite. Thank you very much, I love it!!!🥰
It’s very understanding. Thank you Sir
Explain well ...
This actually helped
I thought that distance travelled is always add,,,,my mind is hurt😭,,why????
thank you i have an exam in 2 days
Profur great. at my age of 129 am getting to know physics. Studying Vedas. and trying to understand jour lessons are helping can gcontact u
Thank u soooo much sir
Amazing video, thanks alot🔥🔥🔥 it really helps
Thank you so so much
Amazing video this boosted my understanding of distance and displacement👍
So happy you liked it!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I have a question, why did we subtract five minus one for distance as an add?
Amazing teacher thanks from the bottom of my heart
Better than organic Chem tutor
thankyou❤
THANK YOU... SIR...!!!
Thank you
Very much help full
THANK YOUUU ‼️‼️
How to use it in maps or real distance like kilometers?
habibiiiiiiiiiiiiii
I always thought the distance can always be added instead of being subtracted...
Distance means is going anywhere with no direction
Like: The car is travelling 2km per hour
Displacement is going anywhere but with direction
Like: Car is travelling 2km per hour to south
Hope I get it right
Thank you sir! This is very helpful!
can distance be negative or is it always positive?
distance is always positive
You've made me change my mind sir, i love physics
you are great sir this lesson is very helpfull for mee
