A dozen + cardiologist over 25 years overlooked the cause of my hypertension, despite 2 of my symptoms which are the markers. Low potassium and medically resistant high blood pressure. 5 minutes with an internist who looked at the 8 meds I was taking and zeroed in on the low potassium. My adrenal glands were producing to much aldosterone. He weaned me off all the other meds and put me Spironolactone. Hypertension gone, under control for the last 22 years.

@rjpoetry3319 my Internist Dr. Found it, my Nephrologist manages it.
2 symptoms of it are chronically low Potassium (even when taking prescribed Potassium supplements) medically resistant high BP (taking multiple BP Meds but still have high BP)
Spironolactone is the med I take to control the BP.
It's a slow acting med and can take weeks-months to show an improvement. It has to be monitored closely and doses increased in small amounts. Take to much and your BP can drop very low.

My numbers stayed high. Thinking of trying Keto and IF again for a longer haul. However did find an exercise regiment that helps me. The trainer in the video indicated it makes the veins more flexible. Maybe I have hardening somewhere.

Thank you so much for your knowledge and inspiration. I am currently on a prolonged fast (13 day’s and counting). I feel so much healthier and clear in my head. Also lost a lot of weight, wich makes me so happy. Feeling really proud, selfconfident and intelligent .
After fasting i’m switching to the Keto diet, wich is really new to me. So excited! If i had known decades ago about this diet, i had switched a long time ago. My head is full of recipes and other plans. For example: i started to grow my own herbs and veggies. Planning to store them in winter time. And plans to grow veggies in the winter. Also switched completely to organic food, wich i order direct at local farms. So now i get a whole cow, chickens etc. Also the fish is caught in the wild. Looking forward to eat these delicious foods!!
I’m planning to give my garden a mediterranean inspiration. So i want to get a fig tree, and eat some fresh figs. I’ve noticed that the figs are a bit high in fructose but have a good dose of potassium amongst other minerals etc. So my question is: does this fruit (fresh) fit in a Keto diet?
    Much love,

Correct, but not in ALL cases like an active infection. During an active infection you can literally take upwards of 250mg of zinc per day because your body is using it to fight the infection. During COVID I was recommending 250MG of zinc citrate, 2700mg NAC, and 20mg Zyrtec daily and 90% of people felt better within 3 days and tested negative within 7 days. This was a 5 day protocol and works every time regardless of underlying medical issues. There is a reason this combo works, but too much to explain here....BTW, I've trained in functional medicine for over a decade with nearly 30 years in healthcare.

I had just turned 46 and I’m menopausal, dealing with the list of my husband; I went for my physical abd my dr was adamant about prescribing me meds for the high blood pressure. I told him that I usually fast and will walk more. Especially every day, walking with my teen daughter to school. He literally told me to get used to taking meds because as we age, everyone will need meds. That turned me TF off. I went to get my vitamin d and iron prescription, which I rather purchase myself, there was a prescription for 5mg of hbd meds. I refuse to take it!!!
I bought a blood pressure monitor cup, monitor my sodium intake( it’s LITERALLY IN EVERYTHING) and walk and drink water, as well as my vitamin regimen and this has helped a ton. I clearly see that these doctors, ignore, gaslight and talk to patients in a very condescending manner. They’re not to be trusted!!!

I've had hypertension for years, doctors only found out recently after I was suffering from insomnia, anxiety, and palpitations. I'm 48 and thought I was going through peri menopausal symptoms. My readings were stupidly high, sometimes 246/174 without any symptoms - no chest pain, dizziness, blurred vision, etc. I went on a diet and ate salad, vegetables, juiced beetroot, carrots, apples, and celery. Ate fruit. Cut down on processed foods to very minimal amounts. And used himalyian pink salt. I'd take supplements, cod liver oil, magnesium, ashwagandha to try and chill me out. It made no difference to my readings - I kept a blood pressure diary for a week and ended up hospitalised with hypertension urgency. Physically, there's nothing wrong with me, my blood work is fine, I'm not diabetic, ECG- showed anxiety, chest x ray clear, except I have awful anxiety. I'm now on two lots of blood pressure medication. My readings have actually come down to a decent level for me and pulse is fine.

It’s because some people have the MTHFR gene. You Can’t methylate B vitamins and other amino acids so you will be anxious and have high blood pressure. You have a protein in your body called homocysteine. when you can’t methylate that protein it becomes high in your blood, and constrict your blood vessels. You can take SAMe supplement for your anxiety. The methylated B vitamins, lower homocystine In essence curing your high blood pressure. You never had a problem with your heart or blood vessels. You just can’t methylate B vitamins. You need to supplement with L-Methionine, that will help immensely lower your anxiety level. It also helps clean your liver out. Also Nattokinase is a big game changer, but do not take it with blood thinners. Also look into L-arginine

The M.D. asked very few general questions and then wrote a prescription for BP meds.
I will not take those killers, but instead, quit caffeine. I drink a pot of coffee in the morning, and the caffeine was really screwing with me, I guess.

Dr. Berg, I've watched almost all of your videos about PCOS and insulin resistence. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 17, and my menstrual cycles have always been irregular. After watching your videos, I suspected insulin resistance might be the cause of my PCOS. I stopped using birth control pills for cycle regulation and adopted a keto diet. After 1-2 months on keto, I took a HOMA IR test, which showed that my insulin levels were already in the normal range indicated by dark green color. So insulin resistence seemed not to be what was causing my PCOS.
However, interestingly, during the initial phase of the keto diet, I experienced regular cycles for the first time ever, despite not being insulin resistant. However, after the third month, my cycles became irregular again despite maintaining the keto diet. I am lean (52 kg, 166 cm) and exhibit all PCOS symptoms except weight gain. I have always been sedentary and consumed a lot of bread and dairy, particularly dairy since childhood. Cutting out dairy during the keto diet did not sustain the regular cycles.
My blood tests revealed high anti-Mullerian hormone levels, but FSH, LH, and dehydrotestosterone were within normal ranges.
Given my situation, do you have any advice or guidence on how i can manage my PCOS.
Thank you very much for your amazing channel and for sharing your expertise with others.

    • @PrasantaDatta-f3g
      @PrasantaDatta-f3g 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

A lean female may have PCOS. Clinical diagnosis is more important than lab values. With the initiation of ketogenic diet Insulin level is expected to fall. Probably you were Insulin Resistant before starting ketogenic Diet. Ketogenic Diet regularised your cycle initially. This is a proof that dietary change helped you much. Be persistent with ketogenic diet and try to lower your tension. Nothing is gained overnight. Consult an Endocrinologist. Anyway what is your actual Insulin level?

@@Drberg yes! I try not to eat too often and am down to two meals a day, but I'm working on eating only once a day. I'm eating about 90% keto. I hope I'll reach 100% keto once a day soon :)

In checking your bp, make sure you have both feet on the ground, your arm is extended with palm out and your lower arm is resting on a table and not dangling down, you are not talking, have had time to rest, you have not had any caffeine within an hour, and they are applying the bp directly on your skin for a better reading.

You shld consider asking Dr. for a referral to a Cardiologist. You want to find out the cause, rule out other serious issues, & make sure you are taking the correct type of med. Also weight gain, smoking, drinking, birth control, & genetics can cause HBP. That’s what usually happens, you get it out of nowhere. It’s called the “Silent Killer” many have 0 symptoms, and do not take the diagnosis seriously.
I know from life experience. My mom had high blood pressure. She was not taking her meds. She was getting warning signs of headaches. Pain is the body’s warning system. She would go to the ER. The DR’s would not let her leave, until her BP was stable. I am sure they warned her. Her visits were became more frequent. I was living on my own & was not witnessing what going prior to her ER visits. One day my younger brother called me described my mom in distress I immediately knew it was a stroke. I was correct. Her blood vessels in her brain could no longer take the pressure & ruptured, It caused bleeding on her brain, & that is serious w/ many complications. She was 47. There are also strokes that are caused by blood clots, if an individual goes to the hospital immediately, there are meds that can dissolve the clot/clots. The HBP was passed to me. I was diagnosed at a young age. I did not smoke. I was not overweight. I was told by a neurologist who said that he could tell by the blood vessels in my eyes “I can tell that you had it for a long time.” I was only 21. I went to the library checked out books, educated myself. I found a Internal Medicine Dr. on my 1st visit she changed my BPM & told me that my potassium was low. The Doctor is correct. I still needed more answers. It took me 20+ years of persistence to find out I was born with a genetic condition MHTFR and it causes high homocysteine levels. I also seen a Cardiologist, had a full thorough exam that included stress test, imaging, ekg’s, labs, ultrasounds, & heart monitoring. It was scary and overwhelming. My Cardiologist said, “your heart is fine, you only have anxiety. The anxiety is a symptom of MHTFR. I have a specialist a Hematologist, because it is considered a blood mutation. I received a gene from each parent at birth. Hopefully this information can help someone else.
