With the addition of tanks like the Type 10, Leclerc Serie XXI, and now the Chinese ZTZ99A, it seems like Gaijin are finally catching up on top tier MBTs. The ZTZ99A is a bit of an oddity, but I think fans of the Chinese tech tree will like it. It's not often that you see an Eastern MBT that can reverse at anything more than 10km/h. Given that there was a controversy surrounding the ZTZ99A and its ammunition, DTC-10, I figured I would hop on the dev server to take look at it.

It's the 4th time for leaks.
1st was the Challenger.
2nd was the LeClerc.
3rd was the Eurocopter Tiger.
4th was the DTC10-125.
Frankly, the fact that we keep getting potentially conflict-changing info leaks happening in a silly game, where people instantly become racist to whichever nation's vehicle just killed them, is absolutely hilarious.
2 for the Chally, and 2 for the Chinese lmak

It should have -8 gun depression and 6 seconds reload rate. There is even video evidence of the 6s reload but Gaijin refuses to accept videos as proof and they don't accept classified data. Like how the hell are we supposed to prove it then?

Squadron vehicles create players who will die once and then bail out or stay with a extremely undertiered lineup, we have enough of that with TURMS spam etc.

It helps experienced players research new tech trees tho. I got the M60A1 DC Ariete to grind out the Italian tech tree and I'm rank 6 with ussr. I have a plethora of backups however and get at most two spawns out of it

I find it funny how they drive randomly on shooting range, I wonder if they'll be destroyed when one of those 4 tanks will hit them.
The most significant reason, or, the gap the DTC10-125 "LEAK" was supposed to fill, its the penentration of the gen III APFSDS. In news report a few years back, the tank crew reported to the journalist about how the APFSDS is able to pen 220 mm of RHA, at 71.2 degrees of inclination, at a range of 2,000 meters(this is a tradition from the PTZ-89 designs, where it is tasked to snipe T-72s out of existence in 2 clicks). This translates to 680mm of pen, similar to what the leaked documents are, so in reality it is not surprising, if anything, it just proven the statement on media was true, not biased. From a war thunder perspective, I am not sure, since I don't play China - a lot of the Chinese players does not, or was not their main(until the ZTZ-96AP aka the TURMS-T destroyer existed, DUH), but I guess 578mm pen that Gaijin provided is adequate. From what I heard from the players which test-droven the vehicle, it is still incomplete in terms of protection stats, but the 2nd beta did drop the correct manuverbility stats. But besides the issues discussed in the video, many Chinese players refusing to play our own tech tree was it is rather incomplete, we many times joked ourselves about many things in the trees are missing, most noticably helicopters, competent cas(which could be solved a bit by the ROCAF F-5E and leaked JH-7), and light tanks(ZBD series when).
As a side note, F for British mains - you guys have a French in charge of the vehicles. Also F to Japan mains, I heard that the data clerk is just as salty as the previously fired Chinese tree one.
The Italian air consultant and to an extent the ground consultant are also really up thier own ass. They absolutely refused to push for what players want and the air consultant is one of the main reasons we still do not have cas in the Italian tree

ZTZ99's are indeed a bit nerfed compared to irl stats(they're supposed to be better then russian and indian T-90A's to counter those, ingame they're worse), but ingame it wouldn't make a difference since it never faces T-90A that it was supposed to counter in the TRB in first place as they have shared set-up.
P.S.: ZTZ99 is supposed to be superior to T-90A if capability statements of both russian and chinese government are to be taken equally.

T-90A is garbage in game, -4kph reverse,-4 depresion,slow turret and slow gun ,T-72B3 at the same BR but better in everyway except turret armour but the T-90A is much easiee to get hit in the breach
Wondering if the LSDW (Laser self-defense weapon) could / would be added. The 99 and 99A both have it. It basically finds and targets enemy laser rangefinders to destroy the optics or blind the gunner. Could maybe discourage laser range finding in every situation at top tier
At this moment you can not destroy conventional optics modules, it would be great if you blind an enemy tank, they had to fix their optics before they have a chance to fire back at you. Anyway we have too small maps to use laser rangefinders effectively, it is great to have but 80% of my battles are in a city.
And im wondering when NATO tanks will get their realistic gun depression on the NATO hump or perhaps we can increase the TURMS, ZTZ96A(P), WMA301 and remove first spawn helicopters?

@@FlapJacks7 only if it's a weapon specifically designed to cause permanent blindness against the naked eye. this laser weapon is legitimate since it targets optics. if the gunner is blinded, it is considered an incidental or collateral effect.
yeah the gen 1 thermals on american tanks are really annoying, and I think only m1128 stryker have gen 3, which is nice. But the mobility of the thing isn´t for me, and the cage doesn´t really help in my opinion, making it a researchable additional armour would be really nice.

Current ZTZ99A is also pretty nerfed tbh, but that is how Gaijin treats minor nations. Type 10 is another good example.
You can literarly make a whole lineup to the US from the squadron vehicles: M1A1 AIM, M901, YAH-64, A4-E(early). And it can even be competent in the right cirsrumstaces.

I think this is gonna be one of the most powerful MBTs in the game, seeing how it is basically a T-80BVM with CITV, good reverse speed, good depression and no side ERA

Them adding the AIM as a squadron vehicle has pretty much convinced me that Gaijin will not be adding any kind of Commonwealth or ANZAC tree in future, and this upsets me.
A commonwealth tree would get Leopards, Challengers, T-series MBTs and Abrams (not even gonna mention aircraft), imagine having each of the major's mbts on a single nation, pretty broken aint it?

I doubt Gaijin will change the round. But they should still give it a better reload and turret traverse at the very least. Should also get gen 3 thermals and better depression but then other nation mains will start complaining.

Now whatever your opinion on the game or the dev team, let's put something clear into everybody's mind: Leaking CLASSIFIED, TOP SECRET-DEFENCE document to prove the inaccuracy of something in the game is NOT A GOOD WAY to make the game better. All it will do is at the best for everyone, remove an ENTIRE NATION in the game, at the best for you, BANNING THE GAME in some country, and at the worst MAKE THE GAME COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN. So if you are a tank commander, A-10 pilot, or any other worker in the military field, either don't get into online argument, either JUST DON'T USE YOUR JOB'S DOCUMENT AS A PROPER ARGUMENT DAMNIT!

they can get the type 96b while not as modern it will fulfil the same role as the 99A in warthunder better engine good reverse better round maybe also VT-2 but this would be a very slight downgrade on the 96b but I am looking forward to there modern lights and IFVs more tbh

By the time 11.3 - 11.7 tanks start rolling around, Gaijin could technically add another version of this tank with the improved autoloader, gun depression and proper ammo specs.
It should have -7 or -8 degrees of depression, with a Leclerc style autoloader that can reload in supposedly 5 seconds (there’s a video of it reloading in 6).
They can get the VT5/ZTQ15, VT4, VT2, VT1, multitudes of wheeled vehicle variants with ATGMs, AAMs, autocannons and such, the 96B, the VN12, VN11, and the VN17 (Chinese PUMA with ATGMs). And that's literally just off the top of my head. China is an extremely high potential tree for top tier. Even moreso than even the big 3, arguably.

US has more than enough shit (1.0 to 11.0) to create another tech tree that is as populate as the current tree...... And another smaller tree that is still bigger than Brits tree. US Military spending goes to alot of stuff, mostly to accumulate knowledge, even if nothing actually get put into service.
USSR will have enough crap to fill another tree, but pre ww2 stuff would be slightly lacking.
China modern stuff can be very populated, that is because they also spend a shit tons. But no more than US or USSR.
DTC10-125 is not leaked, it is public data, have a bit of an internet search :)

Apparently there is a ZTZ99A2 being developed in China so there are still new tanks. If gaijin decides to venture into the many prototype "supertanks" developed around the world, there's also one with a ridiculously powerful 140mm gun that supposedly fired its APFSDS rounds at just over 2000 m/s.
About what you said with neutral steering. Yes, it's still missing from most modern Russian tanks. Primary applies to MBTs. Some of their light vehicles can neutral steer. The T-14 supposedly can but given that there's only a handful of them and we know pretty much nothing about it, there's no way to be sure.
The ZTZ99A is a good tank in war thunder, I wouldn't consider it "meh". I don't have it but I've had to fight them quite a lot now, usually either in my T-90M or 2A6. The armor holds up quite well even when I fire DM53 at them. The reverse speed is a huge advantage for it because whenever I manage to shoot out their gun or take out their gunner, they can back away very quickly. The DTC10 round is also pretty good. I'd say the WZ1001 is probably a bit better tho because of the longer gun that gives the round a bit of extra pen and the fact it has a 14.5mm instead of 12.7mm MG for the commander. This is much better at breaking tracks and barrels, shooting at planes, and killing light vehicles.
I do think gaijin needs to revisit the 99A tho because it's missing an important feature literally visible on the vehicle's model. That thing that kinda looks like a second commander sight is supposed to be an APS, not exactly sure what type or how it works tho. Presumably a soft kill system since I don't see any charges sticking out of it anywhere.

This will be an unpopular opinion, but Modern... anything... should have never been implemented into War Thunder. You have one of the angriest game communities in existence, which is seemingly willing to cause an international incident (or World War III) just for the sake of making their tank better than others. The fact that the supposedly-Hungarian-but-actually-Russian Snail has one of, if not THE worst monetization schemes in existence (And I know Monetization Schemes very well) AND Moderation (It's GMod DarkRP levels of bad.) does not help matters in any way.
I'm real iffy on the Cold War vehicles and their inclusion, but I'm completely against the Modern Era Vehicles if this is what it results in.
