  • This is a very fair and balanced review of the Alfa Romeo MiTo. In this video, Editor in Chief of caranddriving.com, Jonathan Crouch, reviews a 2013 105bhp TwinAir MiTo, though covers many topics of running costs, driving, practicality and costs which are appropriate for all MiTos.

Excellent car! A highly spec’d Twin Air (QV Line) is undeniably the best way to go. 105 BHP from a 1.0lt Turbo (2 cylinder/no road tax) is huge! There’s nothing like it. A clean and tidy example will give you smiles for miles! The Mito is STILL the best looking small car on the roads, but if you blink you’ll miss one! Subtle and elegant. There isn’t many on the roads where I live. Love seeing one on a commute! Nice video.

Had my eye on one since they came out and two years ago bought a 2016 one - was lucky to get a Junior model so it's very economical but has sports seats and the special steering wheel. My elderly neighbour told me my exhaust needed looking at - I said it's meant to be like that. When I had it serviced, sure enough it needed a new exhaust (sorry neighbour!) Be warned - it was hard to source although, once it arrived at my mechanic's place, he called me to come and look at it before he fitted it as it's beautiful! I'm planning to keep this one forever, since I regret selling the MG Midget I had for 12 years from 1985.

Great exhaustive review. You go to depths other reviewers don't. I for one appreciate the explanations of the suspension technology and the engine types. Off to see one at the weekend 👍

My girlfriend has a red 2014 0.9 mito.
Thing is so much fun to drive.
Small, sharp steering and with a tune it has 150 ish bhp i believe.
More than enough and still efficient enough.
    Love the looks of it.
We have one with a arm rest and radio with a rear camera.
The basic model is really basic.
We had a bmw 1 series and a Citroen ds3 before.
The ds3 was faster but this one is the most fun.

video seems very low quality for the year the review came out. Reminded me of a old version of Top Gear. The subject was well covered, but I think the video quality could have been better.

One of the best cars till today. Also punto Evo. But Alfa MiTo is something special. Cuz is more city car , i will like tct automatic transmission.
And it have lot of space front. Cuz this alfa is for 2 , and maybe 3 people. But for the second car is no1 hatch. And for one car is super city car, but in the open road is very sport car. But cuz I’ll drive it 90% in city, defenetly automatic transmission.

This little car came so, so close to being a lovely thing. It ended up being that strange chimaera: a car that was almost very nice.
I had two extended test drives over the years in two different models. Both were fine ... But not special. One drank oil, the other petrol.
Both were 4-cylinder.... I have only driven a twin-air in other bodies and it is.... fun but not very Alfa and quite thirsty.
Build quality of the MiTo is not wonderful. No split rear seat ... It was an option, but did you ever see one with it?
Tan leather was the only lovely interior..... But I only saw that twice in a UK car. And.... Even with tan leather, the rest of the interior was bizarrely mis-matched.
The MiTo was an "almost" car. It was almost lovely, almost interesting, almost pretty and almost worth buying. I write this as one who loves Alfas and wanted terribly to love this car. I almost did.
And that was the problem.... Getting out after a cross-country drive of two hours, it could have been a Fiat 500, a Lancia/Chrysler Y or even a GM Corsa or a small Pug.
