    I bought a base model as soon as they came out in 2019. I changed everything to make it look like the prototype they were teasing us all with . There was not an exhaust system available at the time , so I made my own. I purchased stainless pipe from Amazon and a muffler from Dime City Cycles in Tampa, removed the cat and built one great sounding system. Now the bikes are designed so that you can't remove the cat without replacing the head pipes. I wanted an S&S system, but they were over $1500. I built mine for less than $300. I love the sound the twin pipes make but the S&S ones still have cats. This is still my go to fun bike.

      Very creative. Would love to see and hear your exhaust. Which route did you go to tune your FTR?

    • @robertsmith9156
      @robertsmith9156 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jumpymonkey I did not find that I needed a tune. The bike runs great and sounds amazing. It does have that cold start hesitation and will stall, but I just restart it and it is fine.

      @@robertsmith9156 ok. Mine had the same cold start stall with stock exhaust and got a bit worse with the S&S. I ended up going with the Dynojet PV3 from Fuel Moto. Even their basic tune ironed out the startup fueling issue. I've been tweaking it ever since. My FTR is running pretty solid. These are fun bikes. Enjoy.

    Perfect. Really transforms it into something resembling an actual flat track race bike and the original project bike featured in the pre-release deceptive marketing/promotional videos. This is precisely how this bike should sound. I have an S&S slip on and cat delete on mine, which also sounds great but this is the only way to go in terms of authenticity. Excellent. Spoke wheels next?

      Thanks! Next tire change will include powder coating the wheels Indian red. Then I'm done. :)

    I’m hoping to do a 2:2 with the stock AKRO exhaust this summer!

    I'm in Tontitown. If you still have her I'd like to hear this in person. I have the Rally, but ready to change out stock exhaust. I really love the Race Fit too.

    Researched this exhaust ant can’t find any recommendation on if a flash is required. S&S website seems to indicate its not needed since this system has its own catalyst built in. What did you do?

    • @jumpymonkey
      @jumpymonkey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll want an ECU tune. This exhaust has a much higher flowing cat than stock. When I swapped exhaust the bike ran worse and had a significant increase in exhaust popping. I bought a Dynojet PV3 from Fuel Moto and they gave me a tune that sorted everything out. I've since been improving and developing my own tune. You're welcome to it if you end up buying your own PV3 from Fuel Moto.

      Very helpful. Was it necessary to tune/remap it? Out of interest, why do you no longer have it?

      @@yassassin6425the 2019 FTR had horrible fueling and adding this exhaust made it even worse. I ended up buying a Dynojet PV3 to tune it. Ran excellent after that. I have limited space in my garage so I ended up selling it to make room for a different bike. Nothing wrong with it. I know. I also had a 2019 FTR. Absolutely the worst fuelled bike that I have *_ever_* ridden from the showroom. I found that the PV3/flash tunes didn't cure it. You had to run the thing on closed loop/idle for five minutes to adjust - and even then it was like a bucking bronco ride for the first five miles or so. More concerningly, it used to cut out with no warning, even when warmed up. I switched to the Toce low mount system (developed expressly around the bike) and in association with that, the Lloydz bench tune - developed around both. Completely transformed it but cost me £2,000 in the process.
      Unfortunately the bike was written off last month when someone cut a corner. I'm contemplating a replacement with the high level S&S pipe which to me is the authentic tracker look (see my comments from a few years ago on this video). That's why I was curious whether this was the untampered sound and what map you had used to tame it.

    • @jumpymonkey
      @jumpymonkey  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @yassassin6425 I ended up developing my own map by using PV3 TuneLab and a Python script I bought from a professional tuner. That script analyzed ECM logs to create improved maps. I had the luxury of time so I repeatedly generated new logs covering different riding conditions to improve my map. I ride year round here in Arkansas and even had a tune just for winter riding. :)

      @@lickinganne9239 well if you didn't get your ECU tuned it certainly could be running leaner/hotter. I wear Alpinestars riding pants and don't notice uncomfortable heat. However if I wear only jeans and am stuck at a red light for too long, the heat is pretty hot unless I keep my right leg up/foot on peg. While I'm driving it's not an issue. You should probably get your ECU tuned because I imagine the bike doesn't run that great and you have deceleration popping.

      The heat shield does a pretty good job. Only a noticeable issue if stopped at a light for a long time in the summer. I wear alpinestars riding pants which helps insulate.
