You could use sweeps and circular pattern. Similar to what is shown in this video, but a sweep to add material instead of a swept cut: th-cam.com/video/J8xArI6ajBw/w-d-xo.html
We just tested this process in 2017 and 2019 and it seems to still be working (on our end). If you are sure your equation matches the one shown at 2:02 , I would ask - have you successfully used any equations on your system before? We have rarely seen cases where equations fail to work altogether on a particular system if there is an installation problem or missing prerequisites.

01:44 This is when I have a cylindrical (round) shape, but what if I have an elliptical shape?
You'll have to use the formula for the perimeter of an ellipse. It exists. Google it.
