      Played 4 years of varsity collegiate baseball and said WAY worse than that without getting ejected. A warning, yes. I got probably 100 warnings. I always got a warning before an immediate ejection, though. That's how baseball ejections typically work.

      @thao6112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gabbyhayes1568 calling balls and strikes are pretty hard but that's why they're not getting paid pennies to do that job. It may be hard but if there's more accountability, like their job is on the line every 2-3 years for performance reviews, maybe they won't be as cocky and sensitive. Fans come to see the players play, not see umpires losing their cool from some kind of power trip. Don't even need to fire them, just demote the likes of Angel Hernandez to the minor leagues or whatever they have left now. If you can't handle MLB level zones and players' egos, then maybe you shouldn't be umpiring in the MLB and getting paid MLB salaries. Imagine these jobs getting the same kind of performance reviews as other jobs.

    • @thao6112
      @thao6112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MIssing one or even half a dozen calls is one thing, that's not the main issue here. Part of the issues is the inconsistencies of the zones and also the power trips some of these guys seem to be on, they fucked up but they're quick to respond. Most if not all of these guys have decades in the MLB, they're not rookies. They should handle it more professionally because fans are there to watch the players play, not the umpires making calls that decide outcomes of games. The MLB umpires may get peanuts compared to the players but their salaries are very well compensated when compared to other jobs. Fans just want consistency and accountability. When an umpire that's arguably as bad as Angel Hernandez still working no matter how much he messed up, it paints an ugly picture for other umpires who stay silent. Have a performance review standard and send bottom feeder bad performing umpires down and get new, younger umpires up.

    Umpires in the MLB have the most fragile ego in the world. Not even NBA refs are this soft. Imagine paying $100 to go to a game to have the umpire throw the players out because he got his feelings hurt.

    • @jonp6201
      @jonp6201 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I disagree. I think they put up with a lot of crap and most ejections are to set precedent to move the game along. It just appears as if they are fragile, but if they let professional athletes complain all game, it will never end.
      Fans give them crap, but they are making the situation better.

      Nah MLB umps and NBA refs put up with a lot of crap. I get some calls are awful and people have bad days but still. It’s not like the umps are allowed to call the players bad so why should the players be able too. There’s definitely a gray area but overall most umps put up with too much stuff. Unless you’re Angel Hernandez, majority of the umps are good.

    • @johnromero6315
      @johnromero6315 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Coding Crusader saying "you're bad at your job" is probably the weakest insult possible, though. It doesn't matter that all but the last call was good. The man says a few, literally harmless words and he gets ejected immediately because that ump is a pussy. It's not like he got physical or even went as far as to call him an idiot or anything like that. If this is where they draw the line, then it goes to show that sport isn't to be respected. Because if they can eject a player for this, they can eject them for literally anything.

    Real question. Was Bauer telling Beaty "You can't say that" or shaking his head telling him to shut up because he was getting a lot of wide strikes, too. Pitchers will rarely ever argue much as hitters, except to say I want that call, too. Kinda makes sense that a pitcher getting a big strike zone would not want one of his hitters arguing against other wide strikes.
