I sometimes master roll with a sleeve garter. It helps keep the shirt pinned. You just have to know where you are rolling before hand so as not to get the garter tangled

I guess it was the length of my arms but I always landed a perfect 1/3 covered & 2/3 exposed look. I never considered a rule of threes before but looking back, i always felt bad for Marines whose sleeve rolls either landed just above the elbow or dug all the way into the pits.

I had a Captain, that I worked for about 2 years, that used to have super starched Tommy Hilfiger dress shirts that he would unbutton the cuff buttons and roll the cuff under. It stays in place and is a longer looking sleeve, but a very clean look. He always looked super squared away! I'm a retired police officer and he was a Captain over Professional Standards.
