Loved watching her in this short film. She has so much talent! Watched her in a Street Car in Desire on the National Theatre. It’s a great place to watch theatre that will never make it to your town!
what a beautiful character I wish I could have seen her portray this character on stage. maybe sometime soon they'll bring the play to LA. doubt it though 😔
Excellent short befitting a Classis-leaves me wishing for a full length of life at Elissian Fields and Belle Reve please! then a sequel of Streetcar after Blanche is led away from Stella by the men in white coats... :-(
In case anyone comes here May 2020 - National Theater is going to re broadcast the play, streaming on YT UK. Check. But, it's going to be on may 21, not sure of repeats. I am still trying to figure out if its available in USA.
Yes... premiered on TH-cam, from National Theatre at Home, from 7pm, (UK time), Thursday 21st May, then accessible to watch/stream, right through till 7pm (again UK), the following Thursday, when the next NT streamed production takes over. Check out the NT website. A brilliant service to cheer us through these weird locked-down, theatreless, times..!
It is not a stand alone it is a short film on why Blanche left the tarantula and went to live with her Stella, this is what happened before A Streetcar named desire.
The scene where he throws money on the night stand is totally out of context. Blanche wasn't a hooker. She says in the play tha she does that to fill her empty heart, not her empty pocket
That’s my take on the scene also, he was going to pay for it , even if she didn’t want it, and him acting perturbed, throwing the cash down hard. And the play does indicate that’s what she needs, endorphins from sex, and alcohol / drugs.
@@hiyagurnani6747 Also, she isn't a paragon of truth. Perhaps it's more realistic to assume she pretty much WAS a S.W. and she just chose to spin it that way for her own sanity.
+Arsene Arsene this is Gillian Anderson playing the character Blanche DuBois from Tennessee Williams' 'A Streetcar named Desire', in a short film about what happened to her before the start of the play. She played the same character in the play itself recently in a modern interpretation of the play which was originally set in 1947 New Orleans.
If you didn’t know what you were watching, why did you bother? Suggest you now watch A Street Car named Desire being broadcast on here by the National Theatre Live. If you do, you’ll in for a real treat.

linda ! talentosa! Gillian é demais *--*
This piece did not stand alone adequately. A drunk is not a rivetting subject, especially when moving at a snail's pace in the dark!

I love her accent! My how many accent does she knows?

I'll take care of you, Blanche.
does anyone know the "music" they use in this? i guess it's more of an audio track than music but just thought id ask
+Erin McNeill It's by Alex Baranowski. Can be found on Bandcamp here: alexbaranowski.bandcamp.com/album/a-streecar-named-desire
+Thandie thank you so much!
Great idea, fine script, but the single camera cannot convey the sense of intimacy we would feel in being in the theatre.
A black story of life, but yet so common!
that asmr in the beginning
❤❤❤
I'd never thought i'd see the day... :(
🥺😭❤️💓
Me coming home: bra, pants and heels away from my body 😂 She only the dress

Could it be he did it, but she woun't want it??

@@DK-sw6xx forget for a while.
I'd assume with the loss of Belle Reve and living with Stella, there's a chance her pockets may be pretty empty!
