OAPs are good if you don't mind the not so good raspy tone of the OEM PSE (i hate it, not like my old 981). The absence of X-pipe on open-valves setting is partially to blame, makes it sound like 2 three-cylinders having an argument. I tried Akra Ti OAPs, now i am selling them for a Kline cat-back. 6MT is the best I ever rowed, even after MGW the C7 shifter isn't as good. If you do the short gearing 2-5 and Ninemeister single mass flywheel, you will absolutely love it - fixes the only GT4/Spyder flaw.
So cool to hear another Z06 owner rave about the GT4 being more fun. I had a highly modded C6Z and most of the other vette guys can't wrap their heads around why I would go with a slower car that costs significantly more. Edit: forgot to mention I got a GT4 lol
Yeah it’s all about the driving experience. GT4 is day and night difference from the vette
Nothing beats an NA C7 V8 w chop-chop heads and cam and more. That's my opinion based on actual experience. Love both, they are so different which is a plus.
Lots of great info!
So, after owning a 1992 Acura NSX for 14 years I knew it was time for an upgrade. Made a good buck on the NSX because of the white exterior color got into a 2020 white GT four very similar to your vehicle and I cannot tell you how much I love this vehicle, I went with the sole aftermarket exhaust system, which I believe was a very nice change. Also had the rear spoiler wrapped in black and I also have black wheels from the factory. Just a really fun car and I really enjoy your videos!
Thanks man, this is helpful. I'm in the market for a fun weekend car and had it narrowed down to a gen 5 Viper or a 718 GT4. I didn't like the Viper's driving position and sadly had to walk away from my first choice. I'm now searching for a GT4 like yours: three pedals, buckets, steel brakes.
Thanks for the review. I have the 981 GT4. What were the pads you switched to and was it a fairly strait forward swap? Thanks for the great review!!
I got the endless mx72 pads, eliminated the break squeaks. I paid an Indy mechanic for the swap. 100% worth it
Amazing car. I'm about to get my new GT4 delivered this week. Cannot wait! Also, it is Carrara, not Carrera, white metallic. The color is inspired by the white marble from Carrara, Italy.
Congratulations! You will absolutely love the GT4. And ahh good to know, I learned something new
Having had a Gt4 as good as shifter is I installed short throw Numeric and was a nice upgrade to stock. Highly recommend it. It is a pretty DIY install.
Agreed the Numeric short shifter is really nice
Nice video from a Corvette owner, really love it :-)
I think you have the Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres on your car, correct? Have you figured out the best tyre pressure for an ambitious ride on winding roads (not track)? I am still struggling to find the best pressure on my GT4...
Not yet, I have it set to the Porsche factory recommended psi. It seems to be good, but still need to take it on some twisty roads to truly test it out. Nice GT4 by the way!
@@crointhevette Thanks mate! Same here, I still try to find the right pressures. But its an amazing car anyways :-) Enjoy it!
Hi, what is the top spec with all options (except for pccb)? I ask so I know what a top spec would have when I start looking to buy one this year.
Amazing review! I own a 2020 Gentian Blue GT4 with carbon ceramic brakes and matching yellow trim inside. I'll get the valve and exhaust mods you suggest as well!
Gentian blue is gorgeous! How long have you had your GT4? You won’t regret the mods!
Bought it a year ago over the original sticker price. Zero regrets, so fun to drive. Also have the 18-way seats. Pretty comfortable
You are a brilliant youtuber ❤
Thanks 😃
Very nice car. I was gunning to pick up a 911, but I think I like this better.
You said you have less enjoyment in your Z06 do to wheel spin. Have you looked into getting the dsc controller and/or dsc sport coilover kit, with the camber street alignment?
I haven’t actually, does that help a lot?
Want one, and for the reason you mentioned..would prefer a smaller car. Had an S2k and loved it, feel like this would be the perfect replacement…only if I had the funds haha
I have a GT4 and S2k, they are similar high-revving cars with a raw feeling. S2000 is more raw however, but GT4 is far more capable, not just in terms of speed but handling, braking, just a far more composed and sorted car. Love my S2000 still though :)
Great video...im a huge fan of the GT4....so the questions i have are, what year is this car?....and how expensive are the maintenance costs, specifically oil changes?
It’s a 2020, the maintenance is higher than most cars. Typical Porsche dealers will charge $500 per oil change while Indy shops would be around 250-300. It’s very reliable and you don’t have to do much to maintain, just oil changes and filters.
I am lucky to own a GT4 and was looking at the car graphic valve controller upgrade. What make are the over axle pipes?
Is it a back box ?
Cheers Peter
Sorry for late response on this. I just happen to find this video. I own a 21 Gt4 and the OAPs are connected between your headers and the muffler. They are almost V shaped pipes, one on each side. I replaced mine back when I purchased the car. Makes such a huge difference in sound that you don't need to upgrade your muffler.
I'm getting mine in 4 days! Manual and will mostly daily drive for now. Also my first porsche and GT lol. Any basic advise? Cheers!
Congrats man you will absolutely love it. If you’re gonna daily it at least ppf the front end to prevent rock chips and stuff since the car is super low to the ground. You will enjoy it so much. PDK or manual?
@@crointhevettemanual!!
I daily drove a manual 718 GT4 with carbon buckets for 3yrs and 36k miles… they’re totally fine. Yes, they’re slightly tougher to get into and out of but not prohibitively so. It’s worth it. The seats are comfortable, and they enhance the feel of the car. Also, get the manual. These cars are going away.
I’m guessing they don’t recline? Also how low do you sit in them…asking as someone who’s 5’5.
@@davidd7175 If you get the 918 buckets they have electronically controlled seat height. My wife is 5'5" and sits fine in my GT4 with 918 carbon buckets. They do not recline but are comfortable enough.
Hey, is your C7 Z06 up for sale?
No
why are you called Cro?
Does the Porsche draw as much attention as the Z06 when you’re out?
I would say it’s almost the same, but definitely a bit more with the vette cause of the wrap.
A 718 Cayman to me isn’t worth it unless it’s a GT4. Would a Cayman S be a good gateway to a GT4 or a different brand sports car
I agree; I wouldn’t of bought a cayman until the GT4. I suppose the only cayman id get before a GT4 would be the GTS, but at that price point you can get a ton of other cool cars too
