      @Eric Rogers Make sure you read the thread over at Hobby Squawk on the F-22, specifically about the proper neutral setting of the elevators. The picture in the book isn't as clear as it could be, and it has caused confusion for folks, and led to my crashing mine on take off. Had I read the thread first, I would have been fine. Replaced the vertical stabilizers/rudders, and the plane flew great, until I flew it too far away, lost orientation and dumb-thumbed it into the ground. I'm saving my pennies for a new airframe. I really like this plane!

    At 27:05 you can see the right gear "sprain its ankle" and causes the jet to swerve for a moment. That could potentially become a big problem that will cause excessive wear on the wheels. Defiantly not a deal breaker for me though.

    • @davidgerlach1132
      @davidgerlach1132 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correction. This landing gear set was upgraded to compensate for initial landing strut impact, also to help in closing the main gear doors flush -- ex: 2:34. They can take a good deal of gentle abuse.

      If you have experience with RC flying in general, have flown prop planes for a while, and want to get into jets, this is certainly a good option.
      Setup is important though (as with any RC model), so make sure to get CG, throws and expo right.

      Agreed!
      I feel a lot of the flight demonstrations that have been put forward by MRC have been fairly one dimensional and boring, but it has certainly improved the last couple of years.
      Both Stuart in Europe, Patrick here, and Wesley (Merry Boozers) have taken it to a far more interesting level, with good flying skills and not just the "turn and burn" routine.

    Man that’s a pilot the landing are in scales with the jet I would class that a 12 out of 10 ,
    Absolutely perfect, if we could only have much more distance coverage for the radio to reciver we could fit a fpv and camera on this thing and it would really mean * sky’s the limite * I have 5 Rc up to now but never when on the side of flying I’m more on the crawler, racer,short course, kinda guy but I’ve watch a couples of jets specially the stealth one maybe not the one who’s fly the best but the look of exclusivity is undeniable so I’m thinking going on the dark side as they say 😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍

  • @gooniac33
    @gooniac33 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Looks really good!! However man o man!! That is the most complicated of anything I have ever heard!!! Keep it simple and just fly one rate with the expo to set to make you able to fly all speeds with the same settings. Too may switches can make stuff confusing and cause crashes... I know its all a matter of preference but once you step up to the larger EDFs cutting down the complication keeps things easy and fun. I don't use any high, medium or low rates... all the same setting so that there is no mistakes to be made.

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it works for you, roll with it. I prefer rates like Patrick here as I love different throws and having options.

    • @gooniac33
      @gooniac33 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotionRC Yeah as I said to each their own... Its just that you guys say that it could be a good introduction to the 90mm jets for an EDF newbie. Keeping it simple is a much better approach for them. But its a matter of preference... there is no right or wrong way...

    • @janmb
      @janmb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gooniac33 Big +1 on avoiding all switch throws that are not strictly necessary.
      I pretty much never use dual rates actively anymore myself, only as a tool for finding sensible rates during maidens/early flights.
      After getting rates tuned down (which essentially means as little throws as I can get away with while still having the authority I want in the low speed part of the envelope), then adding whatever minimum of expo required to make those rates comfortable in the center (keep in mind, less total throw = less expo needed = a good thing), dual rates are really rarely required on any model, especially not jets.

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same thing. Dual rates just means you have a set of high and low rate programmed into your transmitter. Sometimes a model doesn't require full throws on some control surfaces or is better during different situations. For example I prefer to take off in full high rate, but once cruising I switch to a lower setting for tamer movements.

I know other slower and different types of aircraft can do a lot better but I love flying speed. I learned how to fly on a 4 stroke warbird and and also 4 stroke ugly stick when I was a kid in the late 80’s I never did the trainer thing lol if we could get that big battery breakthrough I’d be all over this until then I’m sticking with nitro even if I’m more limited as to where I can fly.

      ClaytonMasse it depends on different things obviously but I could keep my ugly stick up in the air for 15 minutes or so. I never actually ran it out of gas that I can remember. The warbird a P-51 was a lot less but that was for racing so to save weight it had a very small tank and was always going full open. I wish great planes brought back the p-38. Currently right now I am working on their p-51 balsa kit. Which is beautiful. New flyers if you want to build rc planes go for Great Planes because it is an easy construction with plans and instructions.

    Great video, thanks. I picked up one of these F-22s from MotionRC a few weeks ago, and it is just next level in terms of quality, detail, fit & finish. What a beauty. Can't wait to fly it in the spring!

    Is this a decent entry into EDF for someone who has high wing, low wing, and tail dragger experience? (Planes like Eflite T-28, E-Flite 300D, E-Flite RV-7, etc).

    • @Jonathan-vo1vt
      @Jonathan-vo1vt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or would the E-flite F-16 be a better choice. Trying to reduce the purchase of planes, because if I get used to the F-16 real fast, I'm going to want to buy The F-22....

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The F-22 is one of the most stable, forgiving Jets on the market. Hard to guage your readiness, but this plane can work for all ranges of pilots

  • @DesertFoxProductions
    @DesertFoxProductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    On the first flight you came down with 15% battery remaining, 3.768 per cell avg. Recommended is coming down with 20% capacity remaining. Recommended storage charge is 3.85 volts per cell. Again on the second flight you came down with 15% capacity remaining. You did not show the remaining capacity of the third flight with the Admiral Carbon. At 7:04 into the video James called out flying with 6000 milliamp 5s battery when you are flying 6s. Little details matter. Love the free flowing formant, nice new change up.

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry fumbled my words. This is raw flying. Didn't want to audio dub it or give any impression you aren't seeing the real thing. As for storage charge, it's close enough. I prefer 15% for that extra pass but too each his own.

    • @DesertFoxProductions
      @DesertFoxProductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No apologies needed, as I said I love the format presentation. There is a difference between recommended discharge voltage and recommended storage voltage for lipo batteries as I know you are aware. Recommended maximum discharge voltage is around 3.5 volts per cell and recommended storage voltage is around 3.85 volts per cell. These value matter as the quality of batteries varies between brands.
