Loving all these. I am new to the game and find them helpful... Of course, as a direct result of this channel, I did try to offer a non block and to port for a friend in my table games night... They were very confused.
Red player here. As you figured out, this game was mildly frustrating, after I have been tt'ed into oblivion... And as some other commenters already pointed out, your table talk was really aggressive. Black has no wheat, and orange is ... just orange. So, you are the target, and because of geography and stuff, I have to solo-block you (10:02) which resulted in a ton of complaints and an extortion. I've read your other comments and I'm torn. Yes, it's a game, but I found your attitude quite toxic. "[...] sometimes. It happens." Maybe reflect on that statement and ask yourself if you want to make it happen less frequently. If so, maybe play less Catan or do whatever you think is best for you. I assume you want to leave a decent impression, both as a Catan player and a content creator (and even if you don't care, you *really* don't want to annoy that dead player with all the devs too much 😃) Fun fact: usually, I like to initiate a mutual-non-plow agreement in those kind of situations. But I had hardly anything to offer, or anything to threaten you without wood. (IIRC... we played that game quite a while ago.)
Yeah, honestly sometimes I feel like players like drew win because of this - you don’t really want to fight them. Even though I do enjoy his vids lol, he does this a lot. Even when he was at 9, he was still dude what etc lmao. Black did really good tt though, explained why he wasn’t the block well
Lots of comments on the TT here, but honestly, any aggression you showed was 10x milder than what is typical for this game. The only comment that irked me was bringing the solo block back up a while after a deal was made in response, felt like whining after a resolution was already reached. But you still said things like “I want to work with you” and whatnot, so most of your TT was strategy oriented, which is a LOT more than can be said for most chat in this game.
Well, It wasn’t a hopeless position but I do think it requires favorable variance and optimal play to make his position work. Some positions are a lot more autopilot so to speak.
oh i’m rolling with your opinion drew. i thought it was a bit funny. two perspectives from top players conflict at the exact same moment of the game lol.
At 19:00, building the third road down the coast instead of upwards seems safer, since it makes it harder for red to cut you. Also gives you more room to expand road towards the center. Super minor detail, no change on the outcome most times. But can be optimized :D
Nah placing up was way better. Prevents red from what they actually benefit by cutting, which is sniping the settle. Outside of that, he doesn't WANT to cut blue road, because that only ensures black taking it for their own win
Hi Drew, I love your videos and I definitely learn a lot from you as a catan player. I know that catan is a game of negotiation/table talk, but sometimes I feel like you manipulate people in a ... non-friendly way. I think you were being quite unfair towards Red this game and I'd love to see you respond to the comment he left on this video. Wishing you the best and looking forward to your next upload!
Thanks for the kind words. I was tired during this game and trying to cram for the final last 2 days with playing a ton of games - I’ve found playing more than 3 games in a sitting tends to offer the worst results in terms of performance and attitude - It’s easy to get lost in the mix while grinding. All that being said, I can admit I don’t think I brought my best to this one but it’s was not meant to be malicious or demeaning to anyone. I could tell red was a strong player but I do think his decision to solo block was a bit premature given the threats at the time. Not sure what comment you were referring to exactly. Thanks for your honest comment and supporting the channel.
Schrodingers asshole. "It was a joke" when you don't get the reaction you want. Used to enjoy these videos, but your table talk is getting so cringey. You're obviously the block and you just won't let it go. Even if you don't take a break from playing, I'm definitely taking a break from watching.
Yo you know what I never see in videos? Its better to 7 out with 9 cards than with 8 because you discard 4 anyway and you have more choice. If I'm on an even number and over 7cards anyway I'm always hungry for the card that gets me to an uneven number. not that it applies to this video it's just a thought that crossed my mind Nice game again!
The first response got it. The overall math works out to pick up the 83 then road road to the 3 tip for the brick port. I have PLENTY of firepower with the 3:1 port already. So picking up any of the 2:1s are just nice to haves here but not game winning.

Yeah! It’s going to take a little bit for them to adopt it 🤣

kinda annoying to chastize players for making very reasonable plays/blocks when you are obviously the main threat
spoiler shield
ur a good player but ur so emo when people block you its tough to watch. harden up

“this is such a good board for 3rd and 4th.”
**looks at game chat Fluggy “4th pick is crap on this board!”
lol

It was to block red from road road settle. It was intentional

Decent game. Haivng a port at the beginning was good.

I didn't mind the tabletalk tbh it was competitive but not too toxic. Maybe it's just my tolerance is high because I used to play League 😂😂
That tt makes me sick
Go see a doctor… it’s just a game 🤣
You should see the other guy. Flubby had to close the computer after that one
How???
What are you on about complaining about solo block on 9 with open settle
Obviously when I am on 9 points, I am a reasonable block. Most of the time I say it in jest, hoping I don’t get blocked - Call it wishful thinking
Schrodingers asshole. "It was a joke" when you don't get the reaction you want.

Love the music
feel like this was a try hard game also the table talk. Red was totally reasonable and right with his assessment. Ur pick was 200IQ and wp though!
16:55 "Orange you have to read the man"
I really enjoy you upload this often, may you keep this good habit of yours Dandy :')

Nice game again!
black and orange kinda mispicked imo
The crew loves you, as much as i love content, gets some rest when you need it
Like, comment, watch
14:29 why not build on the brick port directly?

Thanks for explaining!
Road road settle on the brick such a huge mistake!
