It's worth noting that even if Disney did keep their channels open after the launch of Disney +, they would have had to rebrand Fox because that name is still owned by Murdoch.
If anyone is interested in finding out more about the early days of fX, I highly recommend Connor Higgins's two-parter on Breakfast Time and Fox after Breakfast
How on earth was Edge allowed to air? Surely it would've been in breach of Ofcom's regulations on impartiality. The concept of Sumo TV sounded cool on the face of it -- people producing their own content to be aired on TV, but again, like you mentioned, it would be hard to vet the content made by the public, as there's only so much that Ofcom can check before you'd end up having to do it yourself.
Yeah exactly. I think back then it was seen as impartial provided the show was seen to be fair - so if the guest says one thing and the host says "well according to ... he was at home... I legally have to say that". From what I can see the only times they got in trouble was due to language in shows that were mis-scheduled and may have been part of 'Loaded TV's' block on the channel. I think it goes to show how much things have changed since Trump was president, certain illnesses, brexit and the BLM movement and other stuff around that time sort of really shook that stuff up a bit
The Wire was on FX289 from around 2006 until its last series in 2008 (so there wasn't much of a gap between its broadcast of its series, or 'seasons' as it had debuted in '04, although there was always delay a from its 'Merican broadcast)
4:26 You said "Star" and it reminded of something. There also used to be a channel named FOX in Turkey, which replaced TGRT in 2007. FOX was supposed to be renamed Star Channel, as was the case with other countries that had FOX, but since there was already a TV channel called "Star" in Turkey, the channel was renamed NOW instead a couple of months ago.

Yeah I remember seeing Star as a channel in some countries instead of FX or Fox - but I can't remember exactly where
